Fear of vomit - terrified of MS

I have a terrible fear/anxiety when it comes to vomit or the act of vomiting. I know no one likes it, but this is an actual fear that I've been to therapy for in the past. For mommas in my situation, what did you do when it came to MS? I'm 5 weeks 2 days and only have mild nausea. I'm hoping this is it, but I'm not banking on it. My mom and sister has zero MS, so I'm hoping I'll be the same.

Re: Fear of vomit - terrified of MS

  • I had pretty intense nausea with all of my previous pregnancies.... But did not actually vomit very often at all. (Maybe 2x per pregnancy)

I learned to eat small meals/snacks throughout the day, because if I got hungry the nausea got worse.

I'll be hoping you make it through without any morning sickness!

I'm experiencing a ton of nausea.  I'm also really really opposed to throwing up.  Maybe not as anxious as you are, but the idea makes me incredibly cranky.

So far, I've been able to white-knuckle it, and avoid it.  I think that since I hard core do not want to throw up, and since I *know* that throwing up will not alleviate the nausea (this isn't like food poisoning or over-drinking), my conscious decision drives my body.

It also helps that I have at hand things that will temporarily reduce nausea if it gets bad-- sour candies and lemon slices.  I'm also making a high priority of eating several small meals a day, with protein, which is helping so far.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • Emetophobia! I have this also and it sucks! With my first pregnancy I experienced intense nausea at times but only vomited twice - once when I took my prenatal on an empty stomach and the second when I didn't eat all afternoon. As long as I focused on eating snacks with protein every 2-3 hours and drank ample water, it was just nausea. I was also prescribed medicine by my doctor to help with nausea. Hang in there mama!!

can you give any more information about your mantras and  meditation techniques? I would really love that thank you so much. I'm suffering from nausea standing makes me gag im constantly snacking on things and Taking sips of lemon water.  Laying down is the only thing that really helps me. I cried today because I feel like a terrible mother to my 2.5 year old son. I'm only 6 weeks 3 days and I'm absolutely miserable. My husband is understanding but I feel so terrible for my family.
    Thank you in advanced.
  • I don't have the answer but I'm also feeling guilt about laying around. Hard candy helps with the nausea although I'm sure it's awful for your teeth.  But so is the alternative. I picked up extras of the snacks I give my kids to help keep me from getting sick. The little apple banana fruit pouches are easy to get down. And the white string cheese is really mild too. And lemon lime soda is helping too.
  • Thank you all! I think the key is to drink water and not let my stomach get empty! I noticed that when I have 3 larger meals in a day, I feel worse at night. It's hard to eat so many times a day!
