  • How far along are you? 28 wks

    How big is baby? Eggplant

Upcoming appointments this week? Next Thursday

Any new symptoms or changes? Sore crotch. Sleep has been rocky as I'm waking up more and struggle to fall back asleep. My breasts are getting heavier and dense, this sore.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Weather has been really nice temperature wise which means we are outside all day. Which also means I'm even more tired by the end of the day.

GTKY: What is the worst pet you have ever had? Growing up we had a dog that was part Golden Retriever and part something mean. He was a gorgeous dog but soooo mean! He actually got out of our yard once and bit the neighbor girl who was riding her bicycle with her brother. I was terrified of our dog until he had to get his leg amputated and wore a cone around his head. Then he was nice because he wasn't aggressive. It wasn't long after that he passed away.

  • How far along are you?

    28 weeks- wow

    How big is baby?

    An eggplant

    Upcoming appointments this week?

    Nope

    Any new symptoms or changes?

Heartburn has definitely increased significantly. I'm also just getting uncomfortable as baby grows bigger. Nothing crazy just a general discomfort. Lots of pubic bone pain. These are all pretty in line with my other pregnancies.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

I'm just getting so excited to meet my little guy. I'm pretty much obsessed with birth vlogs on YouTube.

GTKY: What is the worst pet you have ever had?

Before I got pregnant with my first, we adopted a shih tzu named Brody. He was mostly sweet...to me. He was very protective and aggressive otherwise, especially around food. We had to regime him when I got pregnant because our training efforts were not working enough for me to feel comfortable keeping him with a baby in the house.

When I was a child we had a cat named Lee that was a nut job. He would ambush you out of nowhere and claw the shit out of you.

How far along are you? 28 weeks

    How big is baby? Eggplant.

Upcoming appointments this week? Not for another 1.5 weeks.

Any new symptoms or changes? A bout of nausea came out of nowhere last night. And I'm on diclesis still too. Oh, and Baby has decided to take up break-dancing and had a great practice sesh last night at 10pm.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Question- I am very mildly allergic to cats and dogs. After a few hours in the company of a cat or dog, especially depending on the cleanliness of the home, I get a scratchy throat and sneezy. Both my parents and sister have cats, so I'm wondering- how do you expose a newborn to animals? What if my baby has my same allergy? Do you carry around baby benadryl or something?

GTKY: What is the worst pet you have ever had? Edit-posted too soon. None- we had cats, birds, hamsters and gerbils growing up and I loved them all.

@DeansGirl14 - I actually read an article about allergies that said pet dander exposure to the mama while the LO is in utero helps to minimize all sorts of allergies post birth (unfortunately, I don't have a pet). I would just bring the baby over to those houses with the notion that you might need to leave if the baby has a reaction. Others might have better advice. Not sure at what point you can start giving a child benedryl so I'm going with the "ask your pediatrician" if no one else knows.

  • How far along are you?

28 weeks, time to start kick counts!

    How big is baby?

    14.8 inches

    Upcoming appointments this week?

    Nope

    Any new symptoms or changes?

Belly is really sticking out now and it is in my way. Haha. I have to sit down to put on pants, and if I drop something on the floor someone usually has to get it for me if they are available. Otherwise its the squat reach.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

I accomplished some SERIOUS spring cleaning this last weekend just about single-handedly (since DH was at work most of the weekend). We now have lots of extra storage space, everything is more organised, and the apartment feels more spacious after getting rid of some useless bulky furniture. Apartment is baby-ready aside from the actual nursery... which I can't start until roommate moves out... in 3-ish more weeks.

GTKY: What is the worst pet you have ever had?

I have had many animals growing up: fish, hamsters, mice, frogs, guinea pig, cats, parakeets, dogs, hermit crabs, iguana... All of them have been great pets. Only one fish comes to mind. It was one of those Japanese beta fish... and it was a nervous wreck. We had to avoid walking past the bowl too fast, or else it would jump out. We named it Kamikaze. We tried to cap the bowl in various safe ways,: a screen, a plant. But he would just get stuck. Eventually he had an episode when we weren't home to rescue him. Poor fishy.

  • How far along are you? 26 weeks!

How big is baby? Kale or butternut squash...

Upcoming appointments this week? Next appt is 5/22, glucose test!

Any new symptoms or changes? I'm honestly unsure if I'm getting bigger. Whenever i see someone, they're like "wow, you're getting so big!"...hmm...

Rants/Raves/Questions? We're thinking ahead, like way ahead, we want to plan a fun european trip when LO is between 4-8 months. Figured it will be a good time. I hear its a good time for newborns to travel, all they do is eat and sleep. We're thinking southern italy or france. Get a little resort and relax. No tourist attraction city, something relaxing...any suggestions?

GTKY: What is the worst pet you have ever had? I've only had 2 pets. My current, our dog, which i love to death! By default, it'll be my fish from when I was in elementary school. My brother had asthma, so we couldn't have any animals with fur.

  • @jacksonbears Europe, awesome! We honeymooned in Lake Como, Italy (north, not south but oh well)- I definitely think it's relaxing. You'll have enough to do and see without it being as crazy as say Paris or Rome. Depending on the time of year it's kind of touristy; we were there in September and it was pretty quiet. Spring should be nice weather and not touristy.

  • I have another rant that is not exactly pregnancy-related (or maybe it is in regards to my hormonal emotions). I'm not sure what to do about it.

So my close female friend/current roommate had two tickets to a concert and the person that was going to go with her bailed about 3 weeks ago. She then asked me if she could "borrow my husband". DH was in the room and he got really excited because he loves this band. I mildly expressed my dislike for the idea, saying I would feel kind of left out if they went and I didn't get to go. It is a late-night concert, 2-hours away, standing room only. Not ideal accommodations for a pregnant woman like myself. So my friend's suggestion of trying to get a third ticket was not going to work. DH asked me again if it would be okay, and again I said I didn't like the idea, without going into detail to avoid an awkward scene. The conversation ended there with a subject change. But now here it is a day before the event and DH and my friend started talking about how excited they were... um what? I thought this wasn't happening??

So now I am going to be talking to DH today and I feel odd about it. Just to be clear, infidelity is not a concern at all here. DH is dedicated and I trust him entirely in that regard. However, I still feel sick at the idea of my husband being out with another young woman all night... you know? Am I crazy to be unsettled about this?

  • @Feliciosity uhhh how good of a friend is this? She doesn't sound like a gem. And what does she mean by "borrow your husband". I don't know how to approach this because I can't imagine in a bajillion year DH doing that sort of thing. Out of respect for you, they both should understand where you're coming from. After you talk with DH (good luck), you might want to reevaluate your roommate situation.

  • @jacksonbears That sounds awesome! DH and I took an RV around the south of France before we moved back to the US. It's so beautiful...you could do Nice, St. Tropez, Monaco, maybe go up to Provence. Those are definitely touristy locations, but for a reason! Check out this article for some suggestions on some lesser known locations that are equally as beautiful: https://www.bootsnall.com/articles/11-07/the-other-side-of-the-french-mediterranean.html

@Feliciosity Ummm I'd be pissed. You are definitely not overreacting. Even though there's no concern about infidelity, that still would give me a weird feeling. I think I remember you saying this girl is moving out next month, right?

@britvahok @aehogan90 @secicc12 I've known her for 6+ years, and DH has known her for at least half that time. To be honest we used to be closer, but in the last couple of years DH and I have done a lot of growing up and she... hasn't. She is moving out at the end of this month so we can have that room for the nursery. Good timing I think. Again, not worried about cheating AT ALL. She is seeing someone (he can't go because of work) and DH thinks of her the same way I do as far as the "not adulting" thing goes.

It's just SO awkward, and the fact that I'm not bringing it up until the day before really makes it harder. I don't want him to go because I think it's inappropriate, but I also don't want to deprive our friend of an escort (as it were) at the last minute when she is going into downtown Los Angeles at night. I wouldn't recommend that for any young woman. DH is super chivalrous so I know he wouldn't be comfortable with making her go alone either if she can't find anyone. I'm just scared to talk to DH about this and him to think I don't trust him.

How big is baby? Bunch of bananas

    Upcoming appointments this week? No

Any new symptoms or changes? Due to my connective tissue disorder, my joints dislocate very easily.  I hadn't had anything too crazy happen lately, until now.  I've now dislocated my hip once a week for the last three weeks in a row.  Ugh, limping around the house is no fun.  Trying to take it all as gracefully as possible.

    Rants/Raves/Questions? No

GTKY: What is the worst pet you have ever had?  I loved my bunnies (miniature lops) growing up, but one turned mean as I got older and couldn't play with it as much.  So, I guess it's my fault he got grumpy... :/  I ended up giving him to a younger girl who had lots of time to play with him, so I'd like to believe it all worked out in the end.

  • @bumpybump My best friend (pregnant as well) and I were just talking about that too.  Being outside is great, but SO draining!  I think it's especially hard right now when transitioning from inside to outside, I have no stamina built up yet!  Maybe we'll get more accustom to it in a few weeks!
  • @MrsPlatz Bunnies! (I love bunnies) That's tough that you had to give him away. I'm so glad you found another home for him instead of dumping him though. I hear so many horror stories of abandoned pets from my mom working at a shelter for the last couple of years. :(

  • @MrsPlatz that hip dislocation sounds awful. Hopefully, you won't deal with anything else past that.

  • How far along are you?

    26 weeks!

    How big is baby?

    A butternut squash

    Upcoming appointments this week?

No.  It feels so long in between appointments!

    Any new symptoms or changes?

    Bending forward doesn't happen anymore.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

I head back to the west coast next week.  My family is throwing me a baby shower before I get too far along and the trans-con flight is just too long.  I'm really excited to see my family and share this all with them.

GTKY: What is the worst pet you have ever had?

I had mice when I was younger.  At some point I accidently ended up with a male and female.  They made babies that I was sooo excited about.  And then they ate them.  It was a bloody mess of half eaten mice babies.  It was awful.

  • How far along are you? 24 weeks

How big is baby? Ears of corn

Upcoming appointments this week? I had my glucose test today, my first growth scan is on Saturday, and my next OB visit is Monday.  I feel like I'm constantly at the doctor

Any new symptoms or changes? Just the usual discomfort

Rants/Raves/Questions?  I had to take my son with you to the glucose test and he did so well! I was actually able to spend the time knitting and not worrying about keeping him still and silent.  Then we had a great lunch afterwards and overall a good day.

GTKY: What is the worst pet you have ever had?  Probably my current dog.  DH is continually trying to get rid of her, but I just can't bring myself to dump a dog.  For better or worse, we signed up for her.  Also when I was younger we had a hamster who literally ate the other one over the course of a few months and an iguana that was so mean you couldn't ever handle him.

  • @Feliciosity while I think it's wrong for him to ignore your discomfort about the situation, I also think it's odd for you to keep him from seeing a band he really likes for free with a woman he lives with and presumably spends a lot of time with.
  • @taylormarie923 thats awesome that your son behaved at your appointment. My blood pressure is always higher at my appointments with DD there.

  • Well, free wifi and the YouTube kids app helped  ;)
  • Talked to DH. I was crazy to think he wouldn't understand my point of view. He seemed to anticipate my concerns before I shared them all, and he said he had already been feeling guilty about the whole situation. He asked our roommate to find someone else, and if she couldn't he would go so she would not be alone. But in the future he will not be in a situation like this again. Of course, she didn't find anyone so DH is still going. I'm not happy about it... but it was the only fair solution to the problem.

Thanks for the support ladies. I'm sorry about the drama.

  • @Feliciosity I'm glad you had a good talk with DH. It sucks he still has to go, but at least you're both on the same page. Do something nice for yourself while they're at the concert!
