Re: Newbie Intro Thread Week of 4/24/17

  • I've been lurking for a while. So...I suppose I should join in.

    Age: 34 (me), 40 (so)

    TTC: 2 months

    WAYDTGKU: umm...sex...lots of it. And kinda tracking for ovulation but yea not hard core temping and what not.

    All about me spew:
    I have two boys (5, 6) by a previous marriage. SO has one boy (8) by a previous marriage. No we aren't married...that's overrated or something like that. I teach in hell. And await summer vacation like it's my second job. I have a chronic back issue which makes me nervous for what pregnancy will be like this time around bc I am two years post multi level fusion...I suppose we may find out eventually the torture that I am in for. That's it. For now.

    Omg! I'm so excited to be able to finally post! I've been seriously lurking in my probation period. So happy to be able to contribute now! I've read all the sticky posts, the guide, etc. so hopefully I won't do anything dumb. ;-)

    Ages (you and SO): I'm 31 and DH is 29.

    How many months have you been TTC? One! I'm such a newbie, haha!

    What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? Probably too much for just getting started, hehe! But...OPK's, PNV, no alcohol, less coffee, legs up after sex (wive's tale, I know...but why not?), counting cycle days, just started charting BBT, CM and cervical position, eating pineapple...and having sex. :-P

    Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) We've been together for almost 5 years and married for 2. No kids yet for either of us. This is a first marriage for both of us and first time TTC ever so we are super excited! Right now DH is living long distance, but can fly in town for a night or two when the timing is right. In August we will be living together again. I'm going to school for computer science online and hope to wrap up my degree during my pregnancy or shortly thereafter.

  • Welcome @smorzandoj @Twells2014@Knottie97268847 @tryingfor1st and @Amphibious22

    @Knottie97268847 Your name makes you hard to distinguish and tag. You can change it at the knot to something more distinguishable. Otherwise will be tough for people to remember who you are!

    @Amphibious22 I also left this board after a bit around when I hit month 7 or 8 and then came back around too after I hit a year TTC. I left because it became depressing to me but I'm really happy I came back because I think I need it more now than I did at the beginning and it has helped me a lot to be LESS depressed at the point I'm at now. Hope it does the same for you  :)

    PS. MH was SURE "he was the problem" and once we got him a SA it turned out "I'm the problem". We are going the ART route but I totally understand why that may not be the path for everyone. GL to you!
  • Ages (you and SO): me 28, SO 39

    How many months have you been TTC? one

    What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? Lots of sex

    Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) I have two littles (10 months and 5 years), I do makeup artistry and work for an insurance company. I have been on the bump before, used the site when I was trying for my second baby, but mostly lurked rather than posted. Excited to get involved in the community.

  • @vflux33 Thanks for the support!! Yeah it did get really depressing for me to be on here, but now it's just depressing all the time. My friends that I had told about TTC don't really understand and when I talk to them about it these days, it's like they're tired of hearing about it. I definitely get the "as soon as you stop trying so hard and stressing so much it'll happen for you" response a little too often. Super helpful...
    Good luck with ART!! I do sometimes wish I could go that route, but I also understand DHs feelings about it. It's just hard all over.

    Thanks for the welcome ladies. I'm hoping my stay here isn't long! Good luck to all of you!
  • @vflux33 Whew! Thanks for telling me how to change my user name. I kept searching and couldn't figure it out!
  • Hey people! I've been off handedly active on this board, but now feeling like I should because now that my husband is working again we will officially TTC soon!

    Ages (you and SO): me - 29 {30 in Sept}; he - 26 {27 in July}

    How many months have you been TTC? We're starting around his bday {happy bday dude!}

    What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? Sex and tracking likely

    Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) 2 cats - Angel and Penny; my hobbies are makeup, fashion and reading; husband's an outdoorsy person so he enjoys hunting and fishing. We both love sushi.
    My official work title is Insolvency Clerk {clerical job at a bankruptcy firm} and my husband's job is software developer.

  • @MissKittyDanger Haha, we did the same thing. DH's bday was April 14 and my last day of BC was April 15.
  • @JennyColada  Hahaha! Nice :) I planned it this way in hopes I can tell family by my bday I'm expecting ;) Idk how quick it'll happen but I can hope!
  • I'm back for round 4+: Ages (you and SO): I'm 37 and hubby is 38 How many months have you been TTC? Just pulled the goalie (i.e. My mirena) yesterday What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? Temp sporadically, OPT (wondfo), and have the sex Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc): We have an old cat and 3 amazing kids, ages 4, 2 & not quite 1. Sadly lost our first pregnancy at 10 weeks. I was active on the boards through each of those TTC, pregnancies, and early days, but tend to float off when baby sleeps through the night and life gets crazy. I work and hubby is a SAHD. We have been blessed with finding it easy to get pregnant, but my pregnancies and deliveries are complicated by a health concern on my part. All of my health care team is nervous but on board with us going for our 4th and last to complete our family. I don't expect to have many questions for the boards this time around, but am happy to answer any questions about TTC, preganacy or delivery (I've had both vaginal and csection deliveries) that others may have. Best wishes everyone.

  • @Amphibious22 Welcome! Hope you find the support you need here, and that your stay isn't long! I just joined a little over a month ago, after 18 months of TTGP, and it has been so life changing. We just met with our RE this week (at this point our diagnosis is unexplained, basically everything looks good on paper with the exception of a few things in the bloodwork that are borderline) and MH was asking if there are things we can do to improve our chances on our own, and there is a lot she suggested. MH is not a fan of medication and only takes it as an absolute last resort, so for him he wants to make sure we are doing what we can naturally first. Did your infertility specialist mention any vitamins, changes in lifestyle, bloodwork? Would YH be open to those type of things? I find that depression effects me the most when I feel I am losing hope, so I just wanted to share how I found hope again recently.
  • @ramzlau Thanks for sharing your journey so far! My dr. did bloodwork for me and the only red flag is that my pH is off. She recommended an alkaline diet and exercise. Both DH and I are overweight, so eating less sugar and working out more is a good idea anyways. My cycles are regular, so she says the weight isn't likely the cause of infertility, but that a healthy lifestyle would only help our chances. I also take prescription PNVs and have been for almost 6 months. I definitely don't have a lot of hope these days (especially on day 2 of my period), so hopefully the support from this board will help me remember that it's still possible.

    Hello! I frequently lurked and sometimes participated in the boards back in 2012/2013. I decided to log in again tonight and jump back in feet first as we begin our journey again.

    Ages (you and SO): 28 and 27

    How many months have you been TTC? This is the first month

    What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? Just going with the flow for now

    Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) We have a 4 year old girl, 2 cats, a dog, and a rabbit. I am a teacher. I was dx with PCOS in 2012 and were extremely blessed with our daughter. Looking forward to this journey.
