This thread is for women who are pregnant after a loss and who have a history of loss.

This thread is one huge trigger warning so if you just came to read, please protect yourself if you are not comfortable reading about loss.  This is a place where women can talk freely about their loss history.

  • 1. How far along are you today? 8w5d

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
CP at 4.5 weeks in December 2016

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
Physically, I am fatigued, but grateful that (knock on wood) the nausea has not started up yet today. Really trying to get my diet back on track to have more variety, fresh foods and healthy choices. I have been rotating through taco bell burritos and soup for the past few weeks as the only things I can tolerate. I ate pasta and salad last night, so that's a win!

    4. How is your SO handling everything? Some days, I can't quite tell because he isn't a very emotional person, but had a heart warming moment yesterday. He sent me a link via gchat of the following map because we love to travel and said, "This would be cool if we go with the travel nursery theme." I not only loved the map, but the fact that he is excited enough to look for things to put in the nursery. (sorry the image is huge)

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
At this point, I am not sure. I am usually a night person and stay up late. But I have been going to bed earlier these days due to fatigue. But I am not a happy person in the mornings, so I will stick with "night person."
  • 1. How far along are you today?
    11w
    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
I've had two losses after my DS was born in 2013. First loss was in 2015 at 11w (MMC, baby stopped growing at 8w). Second lass was in 2016 at 5w.
    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I'm actually feeling really good today. I have an appointment this afternoon to check on progress and it was the appointment I was most dreading because it is the appointment where I found out about our first loss, but I "cheated" and used my home doppler over the last few days and I'm 99% sure I found the heartbeat (a couple times) so I'm less nervous about today. I'm still dealing with some nausea and fatigue, but I'm happy with any symptoms as long as it means things are going well.
    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He is doing really great actually. I think hearing the heartbeat on the doppler helped him as well because he has finally started telling a few friends, which he was hesitant about doing before. We both want to wait a while yet to announce on social media or anything, but we are feeling less and less nervous about letting out the secret among friends.
    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
I typically answer this with "I'm an afternoon person" because I just really enjoy sleep (especially with how tired this pregnancy is making me), both going to bed early and waking up late, but when forced to choose between the two, I would say night person because I really really really hate waking up in the morning.

@dragonfly87 I LOVE the idea of a travel themed nursery! There is so much you could do with that idea that could be really cute.

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones? MC at 6.5 weeks latst Oct

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes? feeling OK today, was pretty sick all day yesterday and couldn't keep anything down. So far I've managed to keep some food down this morning so I'm calling that a win right now

    4. How is your SO handling everything? really well, he's pretty excited for our appt on Thursday, he bought a couple little things for the baby this last week. :)

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
used to be a night person but more of a morning person now..until I got pregnant and the exhaustion hit hard - I'm not really either right now lol

@dragonfly87 really cute nursery theme idea!

@mommawolff11   good luck at your appointment this afternoon!
  • 1. How far along are you today?
    9+1

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
One loss before DD at about 5 weeks, one loss after DD that was a MMC.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
My first appointment is on Thursday and I'm very excited, but I also have been thinking a lot about my last pregnancy when everything seemed fine until a terrible u/s. Part of me feels really good about this pregnancy and I believe that this will be my rainbow baby, but I'm having so many emotions and re-living the grief from last time.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He's wonderful. He's been incredibly helpful while I've been feeling terrible and he's really supportive on everything. I think we've finally gotten to a place where we understand each other's feelings on the losses we've experienced and I can feel my own feelings without having expectations of what his feelings will be.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Haven't we done this GTKY before? (Maybe that was in a ticker change thread...) I am normally a total night owl, although DH gets up really early for work and I like going to bed at the same time so I go to bed pretty early. Nowadays I'm exhausted by early evening.

    @dragonfly87 I love the travel-themed nursery idea!

@dragonfly87 I love that scratch-off map! H has been wanting something like that for us for a while now!

@mommawolff11 GL at your appointment today! I'm glad your Doppler has brought you some relief.

@mparm91  Yay for keeping food down!

@emucoleman GL at your appointment this week. I was reliving my last loss at my OB Appt this week too. I think it's normal, but it doesn't mean anything is wrong with this baby.

    1. 10 weeks today. In double digits finally!

    2. MC#1 at 7 weeks in Dec 15. MC#2 diagnosed at 7+3 as an embryonic in Apr 16.

    3. Anxiety is still high even after my first OB appointment yesterday. I keep looking for things to worry about. "They took a while finding the heartbeat. Does that mean something's wrong?" "The gestational sac looks small compared to the baby size... is something wrong?" "My BP was high... am I going to get preeclampsia?" Ugh. I just want to turn my brain off!

I've also been having brown spotting after the cervical check/swab yesterday, and that is messing with my PGAL brain big time.

    4. He's great. He's been picking up the slack at home since I'm so exhausted all the time. He's more optimistic than me, and mostly wants to make sure I'm doing OK. Love that man.

    5. I'm more of a mid-day person. I hate getting up early, but can't stay up late either. Pregnancy has only made that worse.

  • 1. How far along are you today?
    11 weeks

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
3 m/c.  Currently past 2 milestones, the last one is next week.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
Still feeling a little ill but getting better.  Still struggling keeping food down but at least that is regular MS now and not the flu.  Can find baby's hb reliably on home doppler now which helps immensely, especially while I was sick.  I was anxious about taking any medication, even the approved ones.  Ugh.  Pgal brain is rough.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
Like a boss.  He's still getting over being sick too, but took yesterday and today off to make sure I was okay.  Since I had the Panorama test today, we tentatively started throwing out baby names, but stopped pretty fast.  I think once I'm in second tri we will feel "safer" having that discussion.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
I used to be a night person until I had children, lol.  I never have been a morning person though.  Give me all the sleep.  If I had to choose, I would still pick night.

  • @emucoleman hoping you have a great first appointment.  Reading your check in about anxiety was like reading my thoughts.   My first appointment was last week and I was excited and terrified.  I know it helps for me just to know Im not alone in that because I don't think other people always get those feelings.   Thanks for sharing.  Sending positive thoughts your way.

    1. 8w5d today.

    2.  My last loss happened at 12 weeks so just waiting anxiously for my 12 week appt on May 12th.

    3. I had a great first appt last Friday.  Im trying to hold on to that.  Struggling still with nausea but I am trying to reassure myself that it means everything is ok.

    4. My DH is great.   I think it was really neat for him to be at the appt and hear the heartbeat.   Last time he couldn't make the first appt and so missed out on that joy.

    5.  This last week my average bedtime has been around eight.  So I guess more of a morning person.

@kschref i agree pgal brain is definitely tough.  It's always hard to know what is ok to take and what isn't.
  • @RiverSong15 the one we bought is this: https://wanderlanddesigns.com/products/globetrotter-world-map It's on sale now and got great reviews.
  • 1. 9 weeks, 3 days

    2.  MC in January at 11 weeks.  Baby stopped growing around 8 weeks.

    3.  I am feeling good today.  Saw a beautiful baby with a strong hb last Wednesday, which helped a lot. i had a teeny, tiny bit of spotting on Sat which caused some major stress, but it tapered off and all seems to be well now. I'm assuming (hoping!) it was leftover irritation from the appt on Wed. They also saw a tiny SCH on the ultrasound, so it could have been that as well.

    4. He is being supportive and is very relaxed and go with the flow, which is the opposite of me. Balance!

    5.  Night person for sure...I sleep until the last possible minute every morning!

  • @angkay711 thank you! It's hard to explain my whirlwind of emotions to most people, but PGAL ladies get it. Good luck at your appointment next month!

@liz4382 Spotting is scary! Glad it went away though!

    1. How far along are you today?
9-10 weeks. Hopefully everyone will agree after my next visit

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
    NMC at 7w6d in January

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I am so bloated again today. I look sooo pregnant and felt car sick on both commutes today. I told my union rep I wanted to sit down to discuss maternity leave. Not sure he knows much! He's going to ask his sisters for a copy of the letters they used.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
I said my back hurt from being in the car for 2 1/2 hours and he actually seemed concerned even though he knows I have back issues and it's not pregnancy related. He's going to Mexico for a wedding for 4 days starting tomorrow.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Sorry this was a repeat this week! TB made it so I could only copy and paste it entirely on mobile and I couldn't edit it for some reason. Didn't have time to get on the laptop before work.

@mommawolff11 How did your appointment go?
@dragonfly87 Sounds like we might have similar nurseries! My house has a travel theme with a few antique suitcases, travel themed pillows, and maps on the walls. I found an adorable, but way too expensive, mobile made of clouds and hot air balloons. I might ask my sister to try to make one. The other sold and this one is kind of girly for my taste, but this seller makes a lot. https://www.etsy.com/listing/475484482/hot-air-balloon-nursery-decor-baby
I've also seen others with the balloons made from Chinese lanterns with lights strung on the ceiling and all sorts of fun stuff.

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones? All three of my losses were very early. I passed that milestone 3 weeks ago.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes? It's now been 2 weeks since our great ultrasound and it's sometimes hard to trust that everything is developing in there as it should without me seeing it. My symptoms are still strong so there's hope in that.

We just told close family because they were in town for the Easter weekend. Everyone was thrilled and it's nice to have a few more people to share the joy with.

    4. How is your SO handling everything? He's my rock. The other day I broke down because I hate how sick I'm feeling but then I feel bad for that because of how long I'd wanted this. He let me wallow and assured me that it's okay to hate being miserable.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Lately I've been neither. Early to bed, sleep in, and get an afternoon nap in if I can manage it. ha!

@dragonfly87 and @NYTino24 We are also looking at a maps/travel themed nursery. I found this on Pinterest years ago and I've wanted it for a nursery ever since: https://www.popandlolli.com/shop/stickers/cutesy-characters/iconic-cultural-world-map

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
Miscarriage at 6 weeks in November 2015.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I'm exhausted and my sciatica has already begun. With my first pregnancy, I didn't experience sciatica till 3rd tri. I'm so happy to have symptoms, but sciatica sucks.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
    He's great.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
I'm not even sure anymore because I'm always tired, but I used to be a night person.
  • 1. How far along are you today?
    10w6d

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
Placental abruption at 22w6d resulting in loss. Placental abruption at 30w4d resulting in preemie DS.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
Beyond emotionally exhausted. I mentioned in last week's thread that I started bleeding, and that hasn't stopped. Saw my OB today and baby looks great, cervix is closed, etc. Of course, this whole "everything looks perfect so we don't know why you're bleeding" has happened in both of my other pregnancies, but never this early. So I'm worried. But I'm going to see a specialist tomorrow morning so hopefully they'll be able to think of something. We are upping my progesterone starting tonight which will hopefully help too.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He's great, and totally my rock when I have pgal brain freak outs.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Usually a night person but during pregnancy I'm more of a mid-afternoon person.

@elsieisamoocow how did your appointment go yesterday? @liz4382  so good to hear that your appointment went well! @NYTino24 is your commute 2.5 hrs total or each way? Either way, that's quite the commute. Also when is your next appointment?

I've been mobile bumping here and there (which isn't that great!) but otherwise I've been mia bc of m/s. Something about the screen makes me more nauseous and dizzy. So I try to limit it to work mostly. I have a scan today and if all goes well I graduate from the RE. I can't tell whether I am nauseous from the m/s or nauseous from the nerves.

    1. How far along are you today?
8 weeks and a few days (depending on when I ovulated. I track but I had a weird month)

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
4/5 week losses. Passed both milestones.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I am just so dang nauseous. I am a perfectionist and hard on myself so I am struggling to keep up at work, at home and to keep a lid on my temper.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He's the sweetest guy ever <3

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Morning person but right now, I will be a person whenever the a nausea gives me a slight break which is usually between 9-11 am. I am def happier in the morning :)

    Early miscarriage/ CP 4+2 August 2016
    Ectopic September 2016

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?

Very tired and super hungry. By the looks of my belly we just went through a growth spurt so that could explain a lot. Luckily the puking has eased up and the nausea really only hits if I wait too long to eat or I am in the car for too long.

Struggle- DDs sleep schedule is off after having Grandma and Grandpa visit last week so yesterday I was up from 4am to 9pm and up again today at 5am.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?

Pretty well. I had a lot of nausea with all the smells at Easter and everyone was asking if I was OK and he basically told everyone to lay off me because the attention and stress just make it worse.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?

I would say night but DD is a morning person so I had to become a morning person too after she was born.
