crazy fists!

So my daughter, (actual age 7months, 4months corrected) always has her hands in fists and rarely has them opened. She only has them opened when she's sleeping or when shes going to grab onto something. Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: crazy fists!

  • I think thats normal. Soon enough she'll discover her hands and everything she can do with them! I used to have to pry open Ruby's hands to clean them =)
  • I think it's normal.  When Waylon holds his bottle he has one hand open and one hand closed.  His PT didn't seem concerned, so I would say it's ok!

  • When mine were evaluated by Early Intervention I brought that up about Jack because his fist s are the same.  She said that it is okay and as long as you are able to open them (and it looks like you are) that it is fine and he will grow out of it.  Like pp said I have to pry his fingers open to clean his palms.  He is constantly making fists and opening and closing his hands that he has a ton of lint in there...
  • This is normal.  You will work with her on reaching and opening her hand.  Once she realizes she can open it on command she will really do a lot then.
