Anyone have an appointment before 8 weeks?

Just got our BFP this past weekend, according to my LMP I'm 5 weeks today. I plan to call today to set up my first dr appt. I know most people say they weren't seen until 8-10 weeks, just wondering if anyone had an earlier appointment? Yesterday I had a bit of a panic moment when I felt like I had some spotting. I know it's possible it's implantation spotting, and I definitely don't want to be the annoying lady who runs to the doctor. I'm feeling so anxious about everything, and almost worried to be excited about being pregnant before I go to the doctor. I feel like my test lines aren't getting any darker, should I be concerned about that?

I had IVF so I'm going at 5 weeks. I'm also spotting brown they told me not to be worried!  And your not annoying ...if you don't feel right make the doctors see you!! The waiting is the worst part !

I originally had an appointment at 4 weeks with my PCP to confirm the pregnancy (pee test) and go over diet and my questions, and then an 8 wk prenatal visit with a NP in my hospital's OB group. However, a little before 5 wks, I had pain in my side and was really worried about an ectopic so I went to urgent care where they did blood test, pee test, two ultrasounds. I'm fine but they want me back at 6 weeks to check on the pain and for dating/viability. If I hadn't been scared though, I would have only had the 4 wk and 8 wk appointments.

If you haven't already gone to your PCP or whoever your regular doctor is to confirm the pregnancy, that might be a good option for you and then you can bring up the spotting as well as anything else worrying you.

Hope that helps, and don't feel like you're being annoying!

Most won't see you until 8 weeks. If you're getting seen early, chances are that it's because you've had fertility issues or a history of losses. Be happy you have a long wait.

And, as someone who has had a number of losses, unless there's a lot of bright red blood, I wouldn't worry. You can call your doctor, but they'll tell you that spotting is normal.
This. I got an early appointment for the very low price of having to do ivf. 8-10 weeks is standard unless you've had losses or fertility treatments.

I have an appointment this Wednesday at 6w3d (according to LMP). BUT I'm high risk and have a history of loss.

I have a second ultrasound appointment tomorrow. It's due to bleeding and low progesterone. They checked first with a blood test and put me on supplements. My obgyn appointment isn't until after Easter. Usually 8-10 weeks is
    normal standard of care.

My first appointment is at 8 weeks 4 days, so in two weeks. I'm not high risk with no previous losses.

Pregnancy is long. Each wait between the appointment feels like it's even longer. It's definitely difficult at first because you want to see something but really there's not much to see right now. Keep an eye on your spotting and if it gets heavier or is bright red, call.

Yep 8 weeks at my dr. Too unless you have a history.  My Dr switched things up though...dating scan at 8 weeks with quick dr. Apt to answer any questions, full exam and going over genetic testing and questions at 10 weeks (I'm getting another ultrasound bc of a subchronic hemorrige) and then regular baby checkups every 4 weeks starting at 12 weeks there after.  I like getting seen at 8, 10 and 12 weeks..eases my mind in these early weeks!

My PCP did betas early on because I needed to be weaned off meds, but OB wouldn't see me until 8 weeks so I go in next week.

I have had two appointments so far due to high risk status and previous loss.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

My doc said I could come in as early as 6 weeks.  I knew a lot of my friends went in that early and came out with anxieties or concerns (mostly cause they weren't far enough along to see what they wanted) so I politely declined and requested something closer to 8 weeks.  I went at 7w3d and measures 7w1d.  Everything looked great and I was happy I waited.

Thanks everyone! Called today, and since I'm 4 weeks they've got me scheduled another 4 weeks from now.

I had early appointments with my midwives because of autoimmune issues that need to be controlled or can cause miscarriage. I did have an early loss, so I had bloodwork done to check my thyroid levels the first weekday after my bfp. My intake appointment and u/s is at 8 weeks. I know I'm lucky to have an u/s before 20 weeks though!

I just put a call into my new OB. I told them I would be 8 weeks this Friday. They could not fit me in for a scan this Monday but I told them that was fine. I am ok with bloodwork and checking on my BP since thats my normal issue. It can be hard to wait!

My first appointment with the OB is at 6 weeks, 5 days (next Tuesday) based on known ovulation date. It is to do blood work and for them to try using a fetal doppler to hear heartbeat (not expecting to hear anything, but OB says hospital grade equipment can sometimes detect close to 7/8 weeks). I will schedule an ultrasound/scan for later. At this point, I am fine waiting. I had betas early on that said things were progressing normally and my progesterone was at a good level. It's no guarantee, but trying to avoid worrying.

I have had one loss, but I am going in before 8 weeks because my clinic routinely does a visit around 6 weeks to complete paperwork and blood work. Given there isn't an ultrasound, it's pretty uneventful, although it will be reassuring to get some blood work done if it comes back normal.

I am 5 weeks today with my second. With my first I was way too excited. I learned with my first that it's not worth you,f until about 8 to 12 weeks. The reward is so much better. With my first, I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks and all you could see was a pulsing dot. Exciting for us at the time, but you really couldn't see anything. That and even with the Doppler, I started hearing the heartbeat at 9 weeks. I'm definitely waiting this time.

And not to be harsh, but my Dr was straight forward and said if something goes wrong now there not much they can do. Which is the truth. Best of luck!  Its an exciting time.

I'd be totally ok not even having a scan yet, just an initial appointment for bloodwork and to answer questions. Waiting another 4 weeks is going to kill me, because I'm so anxious with so many questions and I just feel like I'm going to make the wrong move. I know feeling that way is probably totally normal but I just can't help it!

@toesinthesand-2 it's standard at my hospital for your PCP to "bless" your pregnancy (pee test confirmation and questions answered) before you go to OB, which is what I was suggesting you might like. I liked having it! My real appointment isn't until almost 9 weeks.

@toesinthesand-2 definitely call your OB office and ask any questions you have!  Even if you don't have an appt yet, they should be happy to answer your questions.

I had my first appt yesterday at 6 weeks. Blood work, confirming pee test, answering questions... it was reassuring since I had a loss at 11 weeks last time. She scheduled with an early ultrasound in 10 days and genetic counselor due to my age. It was nice to get to know the new ob and get questions answered.

Due irregular cycles I didn't end up taking a hpt  until after cycle day 40. As I've done so in the past and got negative with period following on the 40 day mark . I've done this twice in maybe the last 18 months to 2 years and it isn't uncommon to hit 35 day cycle every 3 to 5 cycle so I was not in any rush to test or suspicious of a late period as stress or illness can delay this for me  dispite the fatigue nausea and really really sore growing beasts that hit from what I now know would of been a day or two after conception
I ended up testing on day 43 and got a strong positive before the test even hit the control line . So I was around 6 wk when I confirmed
Didn't get in to the doctor till the following Wednesday and because of the irregular cycles she sent me for a dating scan which I got in to the next day  where I was 7w+3 I imagine had I gone sooner to the doctor or tested sooner she would of still gotten an early dating scan

I also was sent for blood (my first ever blood test so they took 4 vials ... and did all my normal blood too )
Due to hormones I did not handle this with the expected dignity of a 31 yo healthy rational woman . Dispite having veins a blind person could find from the other side of the room and it being nothing to worry about

I had an appointment at 6 for pee test, drug screen, etc. Was given lab orders, which I finally did today. Next appointment is at 8 weeks for a dating ultrasound, then lab followup.
