Thoughts on Ezra?

38 weeks pregnant with baby boy #1 and started looking at names again. We've been trying to decide between Cole and Gavin for months, but H recently expressed his fondness of the name Ezra. I've liked it for a while but NEVER expected him to go for it. But, I'm struggling bc it's still so uncommon. Now I'm torn... Mostly between Cole and Ezra.

Please help - what are your thoughts??

Becoming very trendy. Might not seem like it yet but I think you might be surprised in a year or so how many little Ezra's there are. I've been hearing this name quite a bit. I wouldn't choose it for this reason personally, too up and coming. Love Gavin though!

Fwiw, yes Ezra is trending up. It was 92 in 2015, Cole is slightly trending down at 115, and Gavin is also trending down at 70.

They are all right beside each other in usage. Maybe check your state levels to see if one is more popular there if trendy or popularity is a concern of yours.

I really like Ezra but my husband thinks it's sounds feminine. It's getting more popular so I wouldn't say it's really that uncommon.

I dont think that Ezra is THAT uncommon. It is definitely being used and people recognize this name, but it is not highly popular.
Of your names, I like Cole the best as a nn for Nicholas, then Ezra. I dont care for Gavin at all.

I like Ezra but agree it is rising in popularity. Cole is good too, and less popular. Gavin was trendy for a while and so it seems very common in the high school aged crowd right now.

Thanks everyone! This gives me a lot to think about. I wasn't previously considering Ezra because I didn't think my husband would go for it. This baby likely won't have a name until I see him! Hoping that happens soon!

I like Ezra best. It is becoming more popular, but still uncommon. I think it has more personality than Cole.

I love Ezra, it's my lo's middle name. Not sure what you're thinking of for a middle name but I really like Ezra Cole!

Opposite of being too uncommon, I actually think Ezra is getting fairly trendy. I like it, it's a strong, masculine name.

I also agree with PPs that Ezra is trending up. For whatever reason, I've just never really liked it.

From your list, I prefer Gavin as a standalone name, but not with MN Benjamin, so I would go with Cole.

Are you Jewish? I think of Ezra as a Jewish name. I don't think it's too uncommon, and it's easy to pronounce and spell.

Ezra is getting really popular, at least here where I live. I was going to name my last baby that, so Iike it, but I had a girl. I like Cole the best with Benjamin as the middle and I like the simplicity of Cole a lot as well. I've never cared much for Gavin
