  • How far along are you? 34 Weeks

How big is baby? Butternut squash

Upcoming appointments this week? I have an appointment on Thursday. Just a general check up.

Any new symptoms or changes? So much movement! Also, my back is starting to ache. It's not unbearable but it's uncomfortable.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant: STRESS. Seriously, between family drama and training a temp replacement at work I might just throw myself into labor.

Rave: I have FINALLY started washing all of the baby clothes and putting them away. I hope to have our hospital bags packed this weekend, just in case.

GTKY: What is one thing that you think should be taught in school that isn't already? More life skills. I know my high school had a life skills class but it wasn't very in depth.

Upcoming appointments this week? I had an appointment yesterday.  Super fast and easy.

Any new symptoms or changes? Pains in my vee whenever I walk too fast.  I'm seriously like a turtle these days.

Rants/Raves/Questions? My sprinkle is on Saturday!

GTKY: What is one thing that you think should be taught in school that isn't already? How to balance a checkbook and keep a registry.  I work at a bank and soooo many people don't do this.  I know it's an old thing to do, but then you know how much money you have and which checks have cleared.  Man, I sound like a dork.  :)

How big is baby? 4-6 lbs

Upcoming appointments this week? next week and I'll be scheduling my growth scan then too which I'm really looking forward to as it will tell us if there's a possibility for vacs.

Any new symptoms or changes? super powerful kicking! A painful jab to the ribs woke me up last night. Also I feel like I don't have room to eat any food and when I do I am soo uncomfortable after!

Rants/Raves/Questions? rave: we have almost everything we need for him. Only odds and ends left.

GTKY: What is one thing that you think should be taught in school that isn't already? music theory. when I was a kid we still had music in school but even then it didn't teach much theory. DDs school actually does have music but for right now it's just messing around on recorders (2nd grade) I'm hoping in the higher grade levels they will teach more theory. I would LOVE to know how to read music right now.

How far along are you? 35 weeks

    How big is baby? Pineapple

Upcoming appointments this week? I had an appointment yesterday- just measured my belly and doppler check. Everything looking fine so far. Will start my weekly appointments at 37 weeks! eek! If they are unable to confirm her position at that time I will probably get an ultrasound but OB is pretty sure she's head down right now.

Any new symptoms or changes? Feet swelling so much better this week- peeing a lot more lately. Hard to get comfortable sleeping, not even my snoogle helps sometimes.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I have my work shower tomorrow and after that I will get a few more items for baby but other than that everything is ready. Plan to pack my hospital bag this week.

GTKY: What is one thing that you think should be taught in school that isn't already? I think there needs to be more focus on life skills- like I remember learning about how to write a check and balance a check book in Econ class but a lot of kids still don't know how to manage their finances once they get to college and then end up in trouble with debt etc.

  • How far along are you? 32 weeks!

    How big is baby? Squash

    Upcoming appointments this week? nope

Any new symptoms or changes? more of the same heartburn & back pains

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rave: my (joint with my sister) baby shower is this Saturday! I can't wait to see everyone and to see how everything turns out! Our mom is putting it all together for us - she's loving it & is so excited to become a grandmother to both a little boy and a little girl this spring. :)

GTKY: What is one thing that you think should be taught in school that isn't already? I agree with the life skills & personal finances, like how to create/stick to a budget, how to apply for financing/mortgage, etc... I also wish schools would teach more about the consequences for things like drugs/alcohol/destructive life choices... So often programs just teach "you shouldn't do xyz...." but aren't effective because kids don't understand the true consequences or just assume bad things won't happen to them like getting a DUI or becoming addicted to things. Also - more focus on career exploration, so kids aren't so unsure of what they want to do with their lives after they leave school. I guess that's 3 things haha oops ;)

How big is baby? A papaya

Upcoming appointments this week? My weekly is tomorrow. sort of hoping for a cervical check.  I was starting to dilate two weeks ago and i'm curious if I'm progressing at all.

Any new symptoms or changes? Sleep is non-existent, either insomnia or constantly needing to pee.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  Rave: I set everything up for the baby this past weekend - hardcore scrubbed my house, washed and put away all baby clothes, set up the nursery, washed the carseat/swing/ect.  I can officially say that I am READY for this baby when he decides to debut. :)  I also had my work shower today, which was so sweet. <3 Rant: I have the worst cold I've probably ever had in my entire life right now.  So that's been awesome, on top of everything else that being 36 weeks with baby #2 already is.

GTKY: What is one thing that you think should be taught in school that isn't already? Self-defense & life skills, like most of you ladies already said,.  When I graduated high-school and hell, even after I left college - I feel like I really knew nothing.  Teach them how to pay bills, how to balance and budget their accounts, how to change a tire, that the filter in their furnace DOES require regular replacing.  They need to teach a little more about life!

  • How far along are you?  32 weeks

    How big is baby? squash

    Upcoming appointments this week? Today

Any new symptoms or changes? Not really. Just finding sleep to be a bit harder to come by. I miss rolling over with ease.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Had a bit of a scare at the appointment today. When the doc listened for the heartbeat, it was low - like 110 or lower. Then it would rebound but kept dipping. They did a nst so I got to watch a little Home Improvement while they monitored him. At the end, the doc was standing there watching it and the heart rate went below 90 and the alarms started going off.  At this point, he told me to go to the hospital for more monitoring, might have to keep me overnight, and we might have to deliver this baby. I then said "I am NOT ready to have to have this baby". He said he would do what he could to keep him in there longer but he was concerned that the baby is in distress. So off to the hospital I went. DH was at work and found a ride to the hospital (which is about 40 mins away from where we live and work and we only have one car). Got monitored for a couple of hours, had an ultrasound that showed everything to be looking normal and fine. Fluid levels were within the normal range and our little guy was busy wiggling around a ton. So, now I am just on alert for any bleeding, leaking of fluids, or decreased fetal movement. Talk about a stressful afternoon! We need this little guy to stay in there for at least 5 more weeks, ideally more.

In good news, I have my first baby shower this weekend. It is a family one and I am super excited about it. Next week is one with the ladies from church. After that, maybe we can start getting prepared for this baby to come. Today was kind of a wake up call for both my DH and me. We need to get our poop in a group and need to do it soon.

GTKY: What is one thing that you think should be taught in school that isn't already? I think I will go with the life skills like mentioned above. Finances, credit cards and how they really work (not free money), basic car maintenance whether you do it yourself or just be aware that it needs to be done, etc.

  • @thisisallyson wow, that sounds really scary! Glad you were able to be released to go home, hopefully that babe will stay cooking for another few weeks with no more episodes

@hippiemama that's really exciting! Hopefully you'll get good news at your appointment this week!

    How big is baby? Pineapple

Upcoming appointments this week? None this week, but next week I start going evert week until the babe shows up

Any new symptoms or changes? Insomnia, back aching, and apparently diminished patience.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Our couples baby shower was Sunday, and it was really fun! Got almost everything ready, I think. Hospital bag is ready, nursery is mostly set up and ready....at what point are y'all planning on actually installing the car seat in your car?

GTKY: What is one thing that you think should be taught in school that isn't already? I agree with everyone about more life skills in general. We did learn to write checks and balance checkbooks, but I think that there should be more focus on budgeting, what a credit score is and how to check it, how to change a tire and basic car maintenance, maybe basic tax filing info
