I hate new-built homes. I never really saw a lot of them since I was living in the northeast- most of the homes where are I live are from the 50s at the newest, and a large portion of homes are colonials or victorian homes from 100-150 years ago and I love them. I think new homes (especially the new McMansions) are hideous and poorly built. Give me a 150 year old colonial over a McMansion any day.
@kiwi2628 I completely agree! Our house is 99 years old and my parents house is 104 years old. I love the quality, the character and the amazing woodwork! I fell in love with our home from the first moment I walked in during the open house.

@lulu1180 I LOOOOVE brussel sprouts! Baked with balsamic, or cooked with pancetta or steamed with just the right amount of salt and pepper..soooo good!
@kiwi2628 I usually buy the frozen ones that steam directly in the bag so I've never tried it with balsamic (or pancetta for that matter). I'll have to look into that now though!

omg brussels with a pancetta cream sauce (not healthy but delish) is amazing. Brussels with pancetta (or bacon) without the cream sauce- still amazing and healthier than with the cream
@lulu1180This is also a winner! It's been a big hit when I've made it for potlucks. People who usually "hate" brussel sprouts say that they really like it.

@lulu1180 my favorite is to quarter them, drizzle with olive oil and put on salt and pepper, roast at 450 for like 12-14 min, and then put Parmesan cheese and lemon juice on them. Sometimes I put an over easy egg on top too but yes, so amazing!
And I also love them with balsamic and pancetta @kiwi2628!

Ugh. I guess my UO is that none of those recipes sound even remotely appealing hahaha.... I HATE brussell sprouts - the only time that I had them that was even okay was when they were fried (tasted more like kale chips)
My UO is I strongly dislike sappy love movies. I especially can't stomach movies based on Nicholas Spark books. It just seems like it's the same story over and over again just with different circumstances. DH on the other hand loves them.

My UO is that I really love YA fantasy novels. I'm obsessed. It's my dirty little secret (basically my sister and I just exchange books and discuss). Whenever anyone asks for a book recommendation, I give them one of the normal novels I've read so they won't know, but secretly I want to recommend all of the YA to them.

@kiwi2628 I agree with you about new homes. However, because Denver is still growing, you can only find new homes if you want a young neighborhood. Our house was built in 2016 but it's a new neighborhood where everyone is KU or have young kids. Even though we found an amazing house built 60 years ago, we knew the new neighborhood would be a better social choice.

@LuND I don't care for most of the stuff on there (especially Hallmark and Lifetime movies). However, I find the show Snapped on Oxygen kind of fascinating! I used to end up watching it for hours when they would have a marathon playing.

@kiwi2628 I hate new build homes but mostly because there aren't any trees!! My DH and I are house hunting right now and I like the appeal of moving into a home that was just recently built and has modern finishes but not having any greenery outside just kills it for me. I also agree that the charm of older homes is nice but sadly the area we are planning to move just isn't old enough to have those type of houses. So we are stuck between homes built in the 90's (that typically need remodeling) or the new builds.
Add me to the brussle sprout lovers club! I'll have to try some of these recipes!!

I'm the opposite! Maybe it's because of the types of older homes around here (so many ranchers and split levels from the 50s, with some extremely traditional colonials with many small rooms rather than open spaces) that we're saving up to avoid buying one of those. And there are so many of them because they're all hideous and outdated.
@hartmich I'm with you! DH and I are actually building a house in KY to move into next year when my job ends, and we really did it because all the houses we were looking at had something we really didn't like (or were just plain hideous). @JJMNO1616 I am sad about the lack of trees, but we're going to plant a few so hopefully we can remedy that quickly!

@LuND It is a series that profiles women accused of murder. It's completely real and not just "based" on reality or even a "reality show" like what you would see on the major networks. They do interviews with friends and family of both the victim as well as the accused. In most cases, the accused is the SO of the victim but there's been a few cases that are the exception. It's in the same realm as Unsolved Mysteries.

Not sure if this is an UO or not, but DH and I have watched the first two episodes of Taboo on FX (the one with Tom Hardy), and I'm pretty disappointed so far. It's just hard to understand and very slow moving.
@LuND We recorded it but haven't watched it yet. We really only recorded it because (a) Tom Hardy and (b) FX has had some great shows recently. I don't even know what it's about.
