Re: Tuesday Ticker Change 1.17.17

  • How far along are you? 30w!   3/4 day!

How big is baby?  Zucchini, half of a cheesecake factory cheesecake, butternut squash

Upcoming appointments this week? No, just childbirth class on Saturday!

Any new symptoms or changes? Nothing new.  Same old nuisance stuff.  Reflux/heartburn is terrible today.  I am officially not wearing my rings.  My fingers are really swollen today.  I am able to get on my grandma's wedding band, so I am wearing that :)   I think tonight I am going to start wearing a carpal tunnel brace on my left hand too.....

Rants/Raves/Questions?  How many oz of water are you all realistically drinking in a day?  I like to get 3L in, but am struggling to get 64 most days now.  It makes my reflux so much worse.  I think this may be a big part of why my hands are so swollen.   I don't have a ton of sodium in my diet.  I don't eat many pre-prepared foods.  I make almost everything from scratch.

GTKY: Now that we're all pretty far along... what are you missing most from your pre-pregnancy days?  Crossfit/lifting weights & being allowed to push hard in a workout, wine, sashimi, & happy hour buck a shuck oysters + martinis with DH at our favorite local place (where my shower will be in a few weeks).

There's a restaurant across the street from me that has the BEST margaritas. My H gets one and I'll have a sip. I just want one to myself. It'll be enough to get me drunk I'm sure since I've been pregnant 17 of the last 21 months.

  • How far along are you? 31 weeks!

How big is baby?  Bump says asparagus. Ovia says otter. I say giant  :D

Upcoming appointments this week? next week and I'm looking forward to it because I'll be talking to them about going on disability from my very physical job. It's starting to be pretty painful

Any new symptoms or changes? still working on getting the results (hopefully today) for the intense itching it's kind of taking over my life. I hope they can do something to help

Rants/Raves/Questions? rave:baby shower was awesome! Rant: I wish I could turn all the target gift cards into cash!!

GTKY: Now that we're all pretty far along... what are you missing most from your pre-pregnancy days? mostly being more limber all around. And normal not itchy skin!

  •  How far along are you? 34 weeks :)

How big is baby? BIG.  For real.  I am only 5 feet tall and this kid is measuring in the 76%tile so I’ve decided that basically makes him the equivalent of the 90%tile since I’m so damn small.  Completely factual theory, yes?

Upcoming appointments this week?  Tomorrow is my 34 week checkup.  One more two week apt until I’m down to weekly checks and the waiting game - W00!

Any new symptoms or changes? Insomnia, like so many of you lovely ladies.  Up all of the time, we’re talking every hour on the hour, when I can even fall asleep.  Plus interesting “false labor”… painful BHs that wake me up.  So that’s been good times.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  Rant: I’m starting to feel so anxious for my poor DD.  I know she’s so excited to be a big sister and she is going to be so great at it, but my heart breaks knowing that her one-on-one time is going to be changing so drastically – at least at first.  I’m determined to do everything I can to ease the situation, but it definitely makes me want to cry if I think about it too much.

GTKY: Now that we're all pretty far along... what are you missing most from your pre-pregnancy days? All of the things.  I miss having some beers just because.  I miss sex.  I am a giant whale and the last time that we attempted, I laughed so hard that I cried sooo I’ve been cut off.  I miss running so hard that I’m completely out of breath at the end of it and the feeling after finishing anything above 8 miles.  I miss feeling like I Iook sexy.  I know, pregnancy is beautiful, and I’m so grateful to be carrying our little one --- but damn.  I miss putting something on and feeling like I actually look GOOD.  I also miss being able to stand up out of bed without a struggle and walking around without constantly needing to pee.  I know I will eventually miss all of these sweet baby movements, especially since this very well could be my last pregnancy, but for now – I’m reaching the point of OVER IT.

  • How far along are you? 32 weeks

How big is baby? A squash

Upcoming appointments this week? I had one yesterday.  She's measuring on track.

Any new symptoms or changes? My stomach tightens every time I stand up in the evenings.  It's not painful but uncomfortable.  It's not so new, it's been happening, but recently a lot more.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm starting to freak out.  My due date is in 8 weeks.  I wasn't this scared/nervous with my first at all.

GTKY: Now that we're all pretty far along... what are you missing most from your pre-pregnancy days? Sleeping on my belly and Mt. Dew.

  • @MrsBinPA I'm not counting how much water I'm drinking, but maybe I should. I had quite the round of BH last night, and I am wondering if it is partly due to dehydration.

@DrillSergeantCat I miss the adult beverages!

@spartanrd4: That's nice you're taking off a few days, especially after a baby shower. :) You can re-organize your registry prior to your work shower that way and do other preparations.

@babyspice Sorry you're still itching a lot. I take Claritin daily, because otherwise I am constantly itchy (been like this since childhood). Hopefully, you'll get some relief soon.

@thisisallyson I wish I could have gotten by without a winter coat. It's just too damn cold where I live! It plays into my insecurities as well, particularly since the maternity coat I got is already feeling snug. Well that's just nifty... Hopefully your placenta has moved up, and you can feel completely relieved!

@hippiemama I'm small too, and this baby has been measuring ahead since the dating ultrasound at 7 weeks. I have a feeling she'll be a treat to birthe. ;) So, I'm on board with your percentile theory!

@klz0030 Also 8 weeks left. It's crazy how quickly the EDD is arriving!

How far along are you? 32 weeks

How big is baby? A squash

Upcoming appointments this week? Nope, not until next Tuesday

Any new symptoms or changes? Holy Braxton Hicks Batman! Last night, I had the first true bout of them. Poor LO was kicking around, seemingly as perplexed about them as I was. Last night was also the first night in a long while that I had to get up multiple times to pee. Then this morning, walking down the stairs, I had lightning crotch with each step. Clearly, I'm starting off 32 weeks with a bang!

Rants/Raves/Questions? Due to the bout of BH, it got me realizing how much we don't have done or own yet. If this kid came tomorrow, I also would have 0 prep plans for a sub! And cue mild panic as I start busting my butt these last 8 weeks of pregnancy.

GTKY: Now that we're all pretty far along... what are you missing most from your pre-pregnancy days? For the most part, I enjoy being pregnant, so I'm not missing *too much* about the pre-pregnancy days, but I do miss these at times: My rum and coke after a stressful work day and my gin and tonic at parties; sleeping on my stomach; sex that doesn't hurt/is uncomfortable :(; feeling attractive and sexy; and my over-easy eggs and salmon sushi.

  • @dubcompanion Interesting that you got your first Braxton Hicks! Did it feel super weird?! Now that I had my class and we learned more about how to determine what is real labor and what is not, I am definitely waiting for things to get real- real soon!
  • @Spartanrd4 I've determined that I've been getting them sporadically for the past couple months, but last night they were pretty dang constant! They were also accompanied by low back pain and abdominal cramping similar to both menstrual and gas pain. I think what concerned me most was how active LO was, although she's most active at night anyway. As we speak, she's kicking my bladder and reminding me it's about lunchtime, so the BH bout must not have impacted her regular schedule too much. :)
  • How far along are you? 32 weeks

    How big is baby? Squash

Upcoming appointments this week? I have a regular check up tomorrow

Any new symptoms or changes? Peeing more. Not much more I can think of other than that.

Rants/Raves/Questions? We finished putting up shelves and shampooing the carpet in the nursery! Just need to build the crib and we should be good to go. We also went to a childbirth class on Saturday and it was nice to get more info on what to expect. The tour of L&D and the postpartum unit was nice and made us feel better prepared for when we get there.

GTKY: Now that we're all pretty far along... what are you missing most from your pre-pregnancy days? Judge me but I miss Monster energy drinks (only the green one). I honestly did not drink them very often but knowing I can't have them makes me want them. I also miss being able to easily put my shoes/boots on!

@babyspice I had PUPP with my last pregnancy.  I'm so sorry that you're going through a rough bout of itching, and I sincerely hope that it isn't confirmed as PUPP.  Just incase though... "Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap" did WONDERS for curbing the itching, at least for a little while.  COLD showers and lathering my body in that soap gave me a little bit of peace each day.  It smells like it sounds like it would, but if you're as uncomfortable as I was - you will not care.  Also staying REALLY COLD helped a little.  I remember literally working with fans on all around me, including underneath my desk.

I eventually had to give in and accept taking a small dose of some steroid that is escaping me at the moment orally each day because I got to the point where I couldn't function.
  • @hippie mama thank you so much for the info! I don't have the rash that usually accompanies PUPPS but I don't think that completely rules it out. My doc office got back to me finnnalllly and blood work on my liver functions and bile acids came back normal and while that is so good because it means it's not cholastesis, it doesn't give any insight into why I'm still so violently itchy all over :# cold showers have been helping even though I dread being freezing cold I'll take it over the itching! I'm going to look into that soap you suggested. Thank you again!

How far along are you? 30 weeks!!!!

    How big is baby? Zucchini

Upcoming appointments this week? Not this week but we took a "Welcoming Baby" class last night & have a full day child-birthing class on Saturday.

Any new symptoms or changes? Feeling soooo much movement from LO & my tummy feels much firmer as if it's stretched too much.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I stalk my registries & get super excited anytime something moves to the "purchased" list. We're getting packages delivered nearly every day & they're coming in nice gift wrapping so that's been fun. I'm waiting to officially open them till the shower, but I'm just so grateful for all of our family & friends and their generosity.

GTKY: Now that we're all pretty far along... what are you missing most from your pre-pregnancy days? Running, feeling like I can do things that require more strength, sex, sleep, not having heartburn, putting on socks/shoes without struggling, coffee, not having back pain.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant : I majorly over did it at crossfit last week.  We were doing reverse split lunges, and I totally screwed my hips and pelvis area up.  I hard such a hard time walking.  Thank goodness I'm finally better. That whole ligament relaxin thing is no joke.

GTKY: Now that we're all pretty far along... what are you missing most from your pre-pregnancy days?  Being able to work out as hard as I want to, run, and ski.  Drinks after a long day at work or drinks just because.  Simply putting on my shoes without a struggle.

    How big is baby? Celery

Upcoming appointments this week? My next appointment is Monday

Any new symptoms or changes? Lack of sleep, general soreness/backaches

Rants/Raves/Questions? Question: I got a letter from our hospital requesting that we pay the anticipated amount of the delivery/stay at least 2 weeks before our EDD...is this normal? I don't think I've ever had a medical bill BEFORE receiving services.

Rave: DH did the grocery shopping today! Huge help. He's really being super supportive and sweet.

GTKY: Now that we're all pretty far along... what are you missing most from your pre-pregnancy days? Getting a good night's sleep and being able to sleep on my back...It makes me so nervous any time I wake up on my back and I stay anxious about it until I feel LO move

  • @Foersty mine didn't last time, but this time we're at a more major hospital and they have requested a $500 deposit before delivery. I thought it was strange too since who's to say I'll for sure deliver there. I haven't paid it yet for that fact, but am prepared to upon admittance.
  • @hippiemama good to know...Mine's not even just asking for a deposit, they want $3,500! Seems like a lot to ask to pay beforehand, like you said, who's to say I'll 100% deliver there?

  • @Foersty oh ya there's no way I'd be handing over $3,500 before they even do anything. Imagine if you deliver elsewhere what a pain in the ass it would be to get that money back. I invision stacks of paperwork.

    Lurking :)

How is your blood pressure? Does your face feel swollen, too? Its worth mentioning to your doc at your next appt. Swelling can be normal, but a puffy face and swollen hands/carpal tunnel were really my only signs I was developing variable high blood pressure last pregnancy.

I'm finally starting to approach my goal of a gallon of liquid a day. (coffee, tea, smoothies, milk, etc I count toward this) Part of what has been helping me is making tons of decaf iced tea at home. I also take a 24 ounce water bottle to work and drink one full bottle on the commute there and one on the way home. I find I can absent mindedly drink the whole thing in 10 minutes if I'm driving, lol. I found once I starred upping my water intake that my weight gain slowed way down (like went from gaining 2 pounds a week to gaining nothing in the last three inspire of no conscious diet changes) and my swelling got better.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @longliveregina my BP so far has been the same as pre around 110/60.   Earlier on I was getting 2-3L of water/other non chaff beverages.  Now it makes me have such reflux at times I struggle to get in 2L.

I think my face is pretty much the same & my weight gain has been very steady .5-1lb per week with an occasional bug jump in a week.  I was up 2lbs the other AM when really swollen in the hands but haven't been on since to compare.  My hands are a bit better today.  I have been trying to force the fluids.

i will definitely mention it to the doc this week at my visit though.
