Re: First Trimester Check-In: Week of January 16th

  • Hi Everyone!!

    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? Hardly any! Constipated, round ligament pain starting.
    3. When is your next appointment? Today I had my first midwife appt (why I was late posting the thread! Sorry!!!) and then Thursday I have an U/S with my RE
    4. Anything else you'd like to share? Is anyone else adding additional DHA/Omega? I have a prenatal with DHA but I have my sister and best friend saying to take more omega.

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy? Just being a dad...he's excited and he says he's excited Finn (our dog) will have his own baby because he loves my 9 month old nephew so much! Jack (nephew) and Finn are 3 days apart in age...they are the cutest together!

  • Thanks for posting @JWatt5

    1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? 6 weeks tomorrow! Due Sept 12
    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? Just not hungry at all. If this is all the "morning sickness" I get, I'll be so happy.
    3. When is your next appointment? Sono tomorrow! Everything is crossed for a heartbeat and all the right parts to be in the right places!
    4. Anything else you'd like to share? I still take HPT's to make sure the line is nice and dark. Does this worrying every stop? When can I just relax?

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy?? DH is probably most excited to hopefully have a boy so he can gang up on Mom more. And teach him to play and love football as much as he does.

  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? 12w6d (@jwatt5 it's my last time posting on the 1st tri board!)
    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? Feeling really good physically (so, of course, that worries me a bit). Peeing a lot and still exhausted but nada other than that.
    3. When is your next appointment? Heartbeat check on Thursday.
    4. Anything else you'd like to share? Provided all goes well on Thursday I plan on announcing at work on Friday. Nervous and excited - it's the first 'big/group' announcement period!

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy?? He's just excited to be a dad in general. And to find out, at birth, if it's a boy or a girl. It's killing him that we are waiting.

  • Last week in 1st Trimester...I can't believe it!

    1. How far along are you? 13w3d, EDD is 7/21/17

    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? Not many at the moment, I'm starting to feel really good and get my energy back! I'm still having trouble eating, I have frequent tiny meals b/c after a few bites I feel so full it almost hurts. I actually lost 2 lbs from week 9 to week 13

    3. When is your next appointment? Feb 10

    4. Anything else you'd like to share? Had my NT scan and all is good. My little cutie measured right on for target. Still waiting on my Panorama results.

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy? He's super excited to be a dad! And he's also excited for us to experience pregnancy together and watch my belly grow. He lights up at the ultrasounds, it's totally cute  <3

@JWatt5 I take additional DHA - Garden of Life Oceans Mom Prenatal DHA. My RE recommended additional DHA from before transfer and I'll probably continue taking it, especially since I haven't really added any healthy fish or other Omega rich foods to my pregnancy diet yet thanks to food aversions.
  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? 12w1d. Due 7/30/17

    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? My appetite is super off. I'll have a few bites and feel super full.

    3. When is your next appointment? I had my NT scan today and everything looked great! I didn't realize how long that scan would take. The baby wasn't being very cooperative and had its head down. Next ob appt is 2/2/17

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy? He was at the ultrasound today and he always gets so excited to see how big the baby has gotten and all the changes that are happening. He is also super antsy to find out the sex of the baby. The genetic testing came back but all we were told was it was normal ...waiting on my Drs office to call me back with the official results.
  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? 11 wks, 3 days, 8/5/17
    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? My hips have started to hurt if I'm in one position for too long. Most of the time it's at night trying to get comfortable to sleep.
    3. When is your next appointment? Thursday! First OB appointment. Looks like it's a busy week of appointments for the whole group again.
    4. Anything else you'd like to share? Need to get maternity pants sooner rather than later. I wear dress pants to work and even with the belly band, that's not really working anymore.

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy??
Not really sure. He's really excited about the whole thing. Since finding out, he's been researching everything like crazy, from car seats and strollers to swaddling techniques.
  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? Today I am 6 weeks, 4 days. My EDD is Sept 8.
    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? Sore nipples, frequent peeing, crazy dreams- and I started to get some mild on-and-off queasiness. It seems to strike AFTER eating?
    3. When is your next appointment? My first sono will be this Friday, fingers crossed.
    4. Anything else you'd like to share? I got up early to get my 4th and (hopefully final) beta this morning. I should hear by early afternoon. I am pretty anxious about it.....

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy??  He's just excited it actually happened! I think we are both partially in disbelief, still, but cautiously thrilled. I know he wants to find out the sex soon and wants to be able to tell his family and friends once we're a little further along.

@persnickity definitely go buy the maternity pants! I never got the belly band but my maternity jeans are sooo comfortable! If you have any thrift stores near check them out for maternity pants. I was able to get another pair of jeans and dress pants for $5! I'm glad I wear scrubs to work, they hide my growing stomach and fit comfortably!

Lots of appointments this week for everyone! I hope all is well!

  •  1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? 11 wks 1 day, 8/8/17

    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? Nausea seems to be subsiding, I have a little more energy back, but not I am getting some acne and definitely having some stretching pains on occasion. I have noticed a little tiny bump making its way out.

    3. When is your next appointment? Feb 2nd (seems so far away) I had my first OB appointment on the 9th. Everything this looked great, growing right on target, HR was 164, and I was totally amazed to see it actually looking like a baby and moving around his/her arms and legs. It was sooooo crazy!

    4. Anything else you'd like to share? Second trimester cannot come soon enough! I feel like just recently I've started to get very nervous about miscarriage :/ I am not having any symptoms of it, its just something I all of the sudden worry about. I have had all great scans with good heart beats, and nearing the end of the first trimester you'd think I would be less worried. I just keep thinking how awful it would be to get this far and to be thinking that our IF has finally come to an end and then start all over again! Like my sense of security is just waiting to get pulled away from me. Paranoid I guess. I also fantasize that this soothing worry free calmness is just going to magically wash over me as soon as I get to the second trimester, but I know that is not reality...I can be a worry wart ( I am blaming it on my NICU nurse background) :) You worry so much about trying to get pregnant, then you do and its constant worry that something will go wrong, then you have a baby and worry that something could happen to them, get sick or hurt. I think the worry just never ends but morphs into something new with each stage.
QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy?? I think the same as everyone else's. He is just thrilled this is finally happening!

@ljsmith805 I'm not sure the fear of miscarriage ever goes away but I'm hoping it does as well! I try to keep reminding myself "I am pregnant today" because we never gotten this far and I'm incredibly thankful. IF messes with your mind so much...it's just terrible!
  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? 8w EDD of 8/30/2017

    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? I am exhausted, all the time. Emotional, occasional nausea, and smelling everything! I'm considering myself pretty lucky!

    3. When is your next appointment? I have a progesterone check next Monday and another appointment with the OB on 2/13...seems like a lifetime away!

    4. Anything else you'd like to share? We're thinking of telling our daughter soon (my step-daughter)! She is going to be 10 in February. She does have siblings at her moms house so we're not sure yet how she'll react. She lives with us full time and I think she loves having our undivided attention. Anyone else have experience telling an older child? At what point did you tell them?

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy?? I think he's excited that we're in such a good place in our lives, and that it finally happened.

  • @ljsmith805 - I feel the same way. As soon as I start feeling positive or excited that little worry pops in my head and crushes it. Each U/S I say I'm going to stop with it when it's a good U/S but that hasn't happened yet. I can't imagine having to start over at this point either. These U/S every two weeks stress me out going in but give so much relief on the way out. I just want to get mine over with tomorrow and keep moving forward

Such an awesome beta number @omarismyhomeboy!

@ARB425 I was trying to hold out, but I'm giving in and getting some maternity pants. I feel like everyone in the bump pics talks about not having anything until the 2nd trimester and I'm over here rocking the bump since like week 9. Lol

@persnickity lol embrace the bump! I think the ultrasound tech was amused the other day that I barely have a bump and am rocking the maternity jeans! I definitely don't care one bit!
  • @persnickty I felt like I noticed a change around week 9 too! It was only me though, DH said he couldn't tell, but definitely by week 10/11 you can tell a difference in side shot photos. It's small enough I can conceal easily, especially at work in scrubs. However, I am getting so sick of keeping a secret! I am ready to let the cat out of the bag! After my scan on the 2nd I think we will announce :)

@ARB425 What are your favorite shopping spots for maternity clothes? My jeans are starting to be a little too snug.

@ljsmith805 old navy a few weeks ago had a great sale online and I picked up some basic shirts, workout capris and a maxi dress for about $60(I think I got 8 total pieces). I live close to a few thrift shops so Ive bought a pair of dress pants and a pair of jeans for $5 total a few weeks ago. Goodwill actually has tons of new with tags target brand maternity clothes(last years styles) so I've been on the look out for that.  Around 9 weeks I bought maternity jeans at target out of desperation and they were $35! Granted they are super comfy, I won't be buying all my clothes at full price. I've been checking the clearance rack at target but no luck so far.  I'm hoping at work to get away with my regular scrub bottoms and scrub jacket with a tee under when I start showing more. Maternity scrubs are pricey and I just started a new job 6 months ago where I had to buy all new scrubs.

I had my first ob appointment today. She said she could feel my uterus already. Not sure if that early or not, but might explain my bump.

  • Nothing new to report this week. Currently 8w2d, still calculated due 8/30. Next appointment is at 9 weeks which is wed the 25th. Ill get an ultrasound and if all is well ill be released to my regular ob instead of being monitored by my fertility office. Symptoms are being extremely tired and peeing alot nothing else really to report. I have axiety about this pregnancy all we went thru to get here and just hoping evwrything continues smoothly. I know im blessed with no morning sickness but some days it worries me that i dont have it. Trusting the Lord that all will be well.

We are excited for the next ultrasound to see how big the little one has gotten.
  • ...And we have a heartbeat! 125 bpm. Little one is measuring 6 weeks 4 days, even though based on my last period I'd be estimated to be 7 weeks. But, unlike most infertile people, I don't actually know when I conceived since it was natural/unexpected. I have always ovulated later than normal so I'm guessing in reality I'm not exactly 7 weeks. But, I'm still going with it...

    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? the headaches OMG, just started for me out of nowhere. And my uterus has been achy :(
    3. When is your next appointment? 01/23/17
    4. Anything else you'd like to share? I have my first OB appointment with my new doctor. Well I've been to her office but they only did bloodwork and checked my urine. This will be my first time actually meeting her. I spoke with her nurse bc i wanted to verify that I'd be getting an ultrasound (I haven't had one since I left my RE at 8 weeks) and she said no! She said they would do a full physical and measure my uterus and listen for fetal heart tones. And talk about some additional screenings I could have. Is this normal??? I thought for sure I'd have one since it's been over a month and because I'm carrying twins. I know if I choose the NT screening it has to be before 13weeks 6 days, could this be why she isn't doing one at this appointment?

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy?? My husband is just excited period. He has wanted children since we first got married (10 years ago). It figures that when I'm finally ready, my body wants to be a jerk and we have to do IVF. haha. But he's super excited about finding out the genders.

  • @JuliaAnn86 - That sounds pretty normal to me. My midwife said that if someone knows the date of conception or they feel they should have one (twins) then they may order one at 8 weeks but it's not uncommon not to have another scan at all until the 20 week anatomy scan (unless you are doing the screening). My best friend only had the 20 week scan - otherwise doppler starting at 12 weeks. I'd go a little nuts haha. My RE keeps us until 20 weeks. Scan every other week until 12 weeks then once a month (so 16 and 20 weeks). My midwife had one also booked for me at 20 weeks but I have to be to transferred (already!) to an OB, maybe a high risk OB so not sure what they will do.

@JuliaAnn86 - I am lurking from 2nd tri. It is 100% normal to not have another ultrasound until 20 weeks. I am also having twins and I didnt have an ultrasound between 9 and 19 weeks. They used a pocket ultrasound because they couldnt distinguish heart beats with the doppler but no real ultrasound or measurements or anything until my anatomy scan. Those 10 weeks were hard, but it gets better once you have your antomy scan and can feel them moving. I now get ultrasounds every 4 weeks.

  • Happy Friday ladies!  @JuliaAnn86 I know some OBs don't do frequent ultrasounds but that would make me crazy too.  Especially after going through IF and being used to getting a scan once a week or more!  I got lucky, mine does one every two weeks.  Can you ask your OB to do one just for peace of mind?

    As for me:

    1. How far along are you? What is your EDD?  11w5d, EDD Aug 6 with twins :)
    2. Which oh-so-lovely pregnancy symptoms are you having? My appetite came back full force this week and I am constantly hungry!  Trying to eat small bits throughout the day instead of full meals because eating too much brings the nausea back - otherwise that has been decreasing which is awesome.  Still pretty tired but hoping that 2nd trimester energy surge is a real thing!
    3. When is your next appointment? Next Thursday the 26th
    4. Anything else you'd like to share? My OB just called with the results of our DNA blood test (anyone else do this?  Mine did the Harmony test) and they found no signs that indicate Downs or other chromosomal abnormality so that was a huge sigh of relief!  For those who did do this sort of test, is your doctor also doing a NT scan?  I'm unclear if mine will do the NT scan or if they would only do it if the blood test came back with abnormalities.  in any case I'm going to ask when I go back next week but curious if anyone else has any experience there.

QOTW: What is your SO/DH most excited about with this pregnancy?? He just gets really excited that this is all actually happening, after talking about it so much and so many disappointments throughout our journey.  Whether girls or boys he's excited to make our kids super sporty, haha.  He's going to be a great dad :)

  • @esperer I had the genetic blood testing and the NT scan. Mine was a dual test so there wasn't an option to not have the scan. In case you have the NT scan be prepared that it is a longer ultrasound.., mine was about 45 minutes because they are checking many of the baby's structures(brain, heart, spine , bladder, extremities etc). Of course my little one decided to be difficult and was head down in a ball so that didn't help! Part of my test was an abdominal u/s and a transvaginal u/s. But I was happy we got to see the baby for that long!
  • lurking....tw - loss mentioned

I can't help but checking in on everyone, I guess since i still have so many symptoms as I did I still feel like I belong.  Probably not the best for my psych, but still get joy in catching up on all you lovely ladies.

@ljsmith805 - @JWatt5  AND ALL -  I know its really hard for us to keep positive and not worrying about the worst to happen.  Going through infertility is so hard and then to finally get success, you just keep thinking the next shoe is gonna drop.  I know its hard to stay positive but please try to only keep thinking everything will be great.  Enjoy every day, I know you will continue to worry but there's nothing you can do...even if the worst happens.  i knew becoming pregnant with twins was the biggest miracle and blessing...besides being sick all the time, I still kept worrying all the time.  I would have my scan and couldn't breathe till they would finish checking the 2nd baby and tell me all was fine.  AND all was PERFECT theres just no good reason and i didn't do anything that caused the mc just hours later that evening, from everything being perfect.  Everyone doesn't get a happy ending and for this group i'll be that one, so try and stop thinking about it.  Keep seeing your healthy babies through to 9 months, keep thinking about that.  The worst happened and it sucks, and yes i have to start all over again, i have no frosties, no nothing.  You all have hope, so just keep praying for your healthy babies and every day they continue to grow strong with you.  It seems quite a few of you are in the medical field and i'm sure that doesn't help...try.  I don't blame myself for what happened BUT I do wonder if all the worrying didn't help the cause....just wanted to share with you ladies.  You're all getting so close to the 2nd trimester hope u will all be able to breathe a bit easier then.
