Re: Weekly Symptoms - 1/16

I definitely feel more like myself these days just aches and pains in the uterus area and lower back pain if I'm standing for most of the day.  My appetite is still up - so trying to stay ahead of major cravings and include healthy options.  My scale needs a new battery so I will find out how much I've gained at my appointment today
    - eek!  I'm 16 weeks and 1 day.

  • I'm feeling pretty good lately, but the round ligament pain is no joke this time around! I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow, and overall have very few complaints at the moment.
  • So I am having pain in between my legs in my groin muscles. I get it when I'm just walking to much. Also the more weigh I carry, toddler or groceries, it gets worse. I asked doctor about it and she said it's because everything is so loose and once my uterus or stomach or something tightens it will relieve some pain. She also said there's nothing I can do. I have been paying close attention to body movements using these muscles and not doing things that activate it which has helped a lot. Anyone have any other suggestions? Or had anyone had this? It started at 7/8 weeks.
  • I'm having really painful left side pain. It's only on the left, really sporadic, same place that I get RLP over there, so I'm really hoping it's just that or some kind of bowel pain. It's freaking me out though. 14,5, and I haven't "popped" so I'm hoping that's what it's about.

  • Leg cramps have started. I'm ALREADY uncomfortable at night and can't seem to find a position that feels good. Sleeping on my belly is a no-go since having DS (which is super sad because that was how I always slept prior to having a kid), and now I feel uncomfortable on my back. So I flip-flop on my sides and have started getting calf cramps
  • @morgarita I think I've got something similar going on. I spent a lot of the afternoon carrying DS around a local train expo and my groin and thigh muscles were really hurting. I hadn't asked my OB about it because- well I haven't been as active as I normally am and chalked it up to being out of shape! I'm thinking your OB is absolutely right and that we are just changing so much in prep for labor. I'm glad you have found that trying to avoid using that area helps, I will have to give it a try. I've been doing a lot of stretching and it seems to help!
  • Well, I woke up with my first-ever nosebleed today. I guess going full-throttle with the neti pot, blowing my nose 18 million times, and sleeping in an overly dry bedroom AREN'T great for the nose?!?!

But seriously this congestion is throwing me. I haven't had congestion like this in years and am at a loss given that basic pregnancy-safe treatments are going to up the chances of a nosebleed.

On the bright side, today is the first day I've eaten something close to what I used to eat for breakfast. Yay 2nd trimester.

  • I'm 15w & 3d and the aches and pains are not fun. I got sciatica with my first son around 20w, and even after birth I still had it once in a blue, but this pregnancy, it hit me way earlier probably since the beginning and it's everyday throughout the day. Really puts a damper on things I want to get done!
  • @morgarita it's all normal. I remember last pregnancy in third trimester it hurt to walk at times, in pelvic area. But it was mostly bad at night. I couldn't turn over without feeling like my pelvis was ripping open.
  • Restless legs have started over here which makes getting to sleep a ton of fun.  Sciatica also hit me this weekend but has calmed down so I'm hoping it stays away for awhile.
  • I remember with my son how there was a transitionary phase where I started to feel really uncomfortable getting up or lying down - my belly just felt very in the way. With my son, that started around 5-6 months. Well, the twins are kicking my butt early, because I was moaning and groaning all last night about how uncomfortable I was.

That, and I feel like I haven't slept in weeks because my hips are killing me when I lie on my side, which is the only viable position anymore in bed. I stole a pillow off the couch last night and put it between my legs and it was instant relief. Much better mood today now that I slept.

My pubic bone is also starting to feel like it's ready to pull apart - whether that's because the twins are sitting super low or because I'm a second time mom and the relaxin is going to town on my body is still up in the air. So that's a super fun symptom.

And the rhinitis can kiss my butt.

  • @brookedeyo last night after walking a lot I was trying to get out of bed and that's what it felt like- pelvis ripping open. Doesn't normally feel that bad- just what you described like in the 3rd trimester pelvic pain but mine started at 8 weeks. Was hoping someone had a solution.
  • Still a little nauseated, but starting to have days where I'm not. Dizzy pretty regularly and I've started to feel a little lightheaded when I laugh. I can feel my uterus, especially when I lean forward and if I stand for a long time, my back hurts. And occasional restless legs, which is quickly becoming my new least favorite symptom!!!

    Sweet baby boy arrived 7/7/17!
  • Sciatica issues. Sometimes I can't even walk. Getting up several times a night to pee. Starting to feel the baby move which is exciting! DH can't feel yet, but I definitely can (currently 14+6). When I lay down at night it's non stop.

  • Either the snot/mucous is out of control or I'm getting a cold but my throat has been hurting worse every day since Friday. Not bad enough to be strep but definitely not fun. Finally broke down and took some Tylenol last night which helped a ton. Had something similar last pregnancy and eventually got better after about 1 week (after wasted trip to prompt care) so hoping for similar result this time. Otherwise just more of being tired and hungry. All the ladies with the groin pain - yikes! This sounds awful.
  • 15 weeks Wednesday.  Still vomiting buy it seems to just get bad in the evenings.  Was sick until 23/26 weeks with DD then again at 34 onwards so hoping this subsides sooner.  Exhausted but other than that doing well.
  • At 13 weeks, still have to eat every two hours or I feel like I want to throw up. Still exhausted. DH is starting to lose it because he has to do everything.

I get weird snaps in my belly sometimes. It feels similar to kicks, or like a rubber band snapped. OB claims it's gas but I don't think so. I know what gas feels like.

Anyway, waiting to be out of this trimester. It was so easy last pregnancy. I barely had anything. But this is kicking my butt. I think after this one I'm done.

  • @abmommy15 I hear you on the RLS! For me it's worse at night when I'm laying on the couch trying to relax, whereas when I finally get in bed to go to sleep it's okay. It's definitely worse overall when I'm thinking about it. So, that's easy enough right? Just don't think about it! =/

  • Yesterday was particularly bad with the RLP on the left side. And, for some reason, I think my nausea is linked to indigestion and eating something even mildly greasy (like the turkey burgers from last night). I felt fine today until I had a leftover turkey burger for lunch. Now the gross stomach feeling is back...and heartburn seems to have joined it today. :(

I definitely started feeling more energy this weekend and now I have grand plans to organize all of the things!!!

  • Week 16 and FINALLY seem to be getting past the exhaustion and general yuck!!!!!

Perhaps coincidence or related - went to the chiropractor twice in the past 7 days, for sciatica. It is helping! I see her again in a week, and then hopefully we can dial back frequency from there.

She suggested getting my OB to prescribe massage. Ooo, yes please!
  • A massage sounds heavenly!

Week 14 for me... I'm feeling good, have much more energy and have been working out daily. Today has been really emotional, like crying at the drop of a hat three different times already. And yesterday, I had a terrible loss dream during my afternoon nap. It really shook me up for the rest of the day, was really vivid and graphic. Anyone else have loss dreams? They're just awful!

  • @Sassenach1743 Not exactly, but the only time I've seen my son in a dream, he was definitely not well... Tiny and covered in bandages. Not a good feeling! Hopefully the a/s will help but it hasn't made me very confident.

  • @abmommy15 oh gosh the restless leg syndrome!!  :s  not looking forward to that at all!

I'm hoping the headaches subside a bit this week - I definitely have more energy these days.

@Sassenach1743 I have had numerous loss dreams. Just last night in fact. Woke up sweating and crying. They're so scary- so I totally empathize. I try to avoid any TW posts because I think any trigger makes my anxiety worse thus making my dreams happen more frequently.
  • @Sassenach1743 - it's been quite a few weeks, but I've had three or four dreams about finding blood when I've gone to the bathroom. It's awful! I never would have guessed pregnancy is so stressful!
  • @lfk2013  Ah that was my favorite part about being pregnant last time. ;)
  • @kstewart
You have just described my last few weeks - so uncomfortable in the hips - pillows only help me so much. I actually got a second pillow to prop me up in bed and it's been helping more than the pillow between the legs.

    And yes pregnancy rhinitis sux!

  • @ktewart and @ThePecks try one of the  LeachCo pregnancy pillows. It is seriously like sleeping on/in a cloud and so worth it. I asked my mom for one for christmas and she sent one. So grateful.
  • @CarsonsMommy, my husband just looked at me yesterday and commented how much better my mood was yesterday for having gotten at least a little sleep last night, so where could be find me a pregnancy pillow so I'd be more comfortable. I'll have to tell him about this recommendation! Thank you!

  • Insomnia is my main problem....I had it last pregnancy too! I have a hard time sleeping during the day so I mostly walk around like a cranky zombie.
  • I think I have this pregnancy rhinitis you guys are talking about - I'm actually looking into humidifiers hoping it'll help.
  • Was craving sweet frog (haven't had ice cream in months, haven't been able to stomach it) and had it last night- went to get froyo and went to bed and woke up so so nauseous. So not worth it! But DS loved it- pic for cuteness
  • I feel guilty because I was led to believe that during 2nd trimester, I'd be walking around looking like a glowing goddess, with super-human like energy and long, lustrous hair and nails. Nope, wrong, none of the above. I feel like a beached whale most of the time because I can't eat a decent meal without my stomach blowing up like a balloon. Also my skin and nails SUCK, even worse than before. I've been getting back pain now and have still had this persistent tenderness in my tailbone that has lasted over a week. I feel guilty because I feel like I'm not enjoying this time like I should be because time IS moving so fast. I can't help but feel like crap being a 24 year old with a pizza face, busting out of all my clothes and have the finger nails of a hobo.
  • This content has been removed.
  • Well I just choked on my own spit and even though I haven't been nauseous for days almost vomited because of how hard I was coughing. Oh and I nearly dropped my cat off the couch cause she was on my lap. Pregnancy is hard and weird.

  • My nausea came back again in full force last night and this morning. It was ok all weekend. Not fine, but ok.
  • It would be great if I could stop burping up fish oil from the prenatal vitamins. Is this still an issue with the gummy pre-natals? I think I need to switch brands because I gag every time.
