We are going to IHOP again for all you can eat pancakes!! Have to bring the in-laws, but its a small price to pay
That sounds amazing. I just realized we have to clear out our master closet this weekend and patch and paint the walls. It was going to be a task for next weekend because we're having new shelving installed at the end of this month. But then my kid got sick so we postponed visiting my SIL and brand new nice until next weekend, so now it has to happen today and we have to survive 2 weeks without our closet.
An ice storm is moving our way, so I am up to go to the grocery store now at 7:45 am. Boooo.
Other than that, we are doing nothing this weekend!

I've got a three day weekend, so we'll be organizing the pantry and fridge, now I that I can actually look at food again. I also got the parts to finish converting DS's old toddler bed back to a crib. Our new stroller and glider came in, too, so I'll be assembling those. Our china closet shelves collapsed, so DH will be busy cleaning up the broken china and crystal (I'm heartbroken, and I can't even look at it all). Hopefully we'll do that all pretty quickly, and can have some fun relaxing, too. I want to set up a mega hot wheels track with DS and all the sweet parts he got for xmas, so he's looking forward to that. Nice weekend in.
3 day weekend!! I'll be taking my nieces to "the museum of play" on Monday to spend some time with them. Otherwise, just watching some playoff football!!!

Oh no at the broken china! Did you have heirloom pieces or wedding gifts in the collection ?
I technically have a three day weekend too so am happy about that! Your post just reminded me that we never bought the conversion kit for our crib and RH changes out the styles of their crib quite frequently - will need to scour EBay to see if I can buy the parts. Did you go from crib to toddler bed to bed? Or skip the toddler bed part?
Dh and I are going to our last Christmas party of the season. Then out for a nice dinner. I told dh we have to get dessert tonight even if it's just drive thru ice cream. We were talking about a movie this afternoon. Passengers maybe? Mil has ds overnight!!!!
Every year in January we have a friends giving st our house. It happens to be this weekend. Everyone comes and bring a side dish. Tonight we will about 40 people at our house including all their children. It's always a good time and nice to catch up with friends we don't see often.
I have a random QUESTION: any advice on how to deal with anxiety about having sex while pregnant? I know it's safe as long as we're not in a high risk situation, but we're both still scared to try and a bit weirded out by it.
@lph4248 since your both nervous about it why don't you keep an open dialogue and go as far as you feel comfortable. Maybe you don't get very far maybe you do and it's fine but talk about it and keep it light.

If you're looking for a sci-fi ish movie, I HIGHLY recommend arrival with Amy Adams. It was so good!!
@lph4248 gosh I don't know, I was going to give myself until second trimester before I started thinking about it - I feel horrible but the drive is just not there and when it is, I get nervous about the baby (knowing how irrational that is)
@satsumasandlemons Well it's good to know we're not alone!! @morgarita I agree communication about it is so important and I think we're doing well in that regard. I'm just thinking... you always hear how sex is put on the back burner once the baby comes, so I wish we could just enjoy this pre-baby time more and not be scared of sex. Maybe further into the 2nd trimester I'll feel more comfortable... I hope...
@lph4248 Coming from a PGAL mom with serious anxiety issues, it's totally normal to worry about it. My husband and I didn't have sex for 6 weeks when we found out I was pregnant because I was too scared about hurting the baby or dislodging it. It probably didn't help that when I lost my first baby at 5 weeks we had just had sex and I started bleeding. Our sex has not been the same since then, and we had a pretty healthy life before then. I only go for it when I feel totally confident in it, and I have no weird pains or feelings going on. If anything hurts, or I feel uncomfortable, or I get a weird twinge, we stop. My husband and I both miss our regular sex lives, but it is what it is for now. It took weeks of telling myself that everything was ok and sex isn't going to hurt the baby to be able to do anything at all. Definitely keep talking to your husband about it, take it slow, and don't push yourself. If he's weird about it too, it will be even easier. After we have a couple of times, and now that I'm 14 weeks, it's easier to not freak out. It just takes time to reassure yourself that everything is going to be ok with it. Also, you can always just cuddle naked, fool around like teenagers, foreplay all you want even if you don't have sex. It keeps you close. For my husband, massages are almost as good as sex, so if I really can't but we want to feel intimate, I massage him.

There were a few pieces from Ireland that my grandmother had given me, but mostly wedding stuff. I had service for 12 from my wedding, all Waterford. All but 3 wine glasses broke, along with several pieces of china. I don't know the final tally, because I can't even look. It's hundreds of dollars in damage, and I used it all every time I hosted a holiday (every year). I'm so disappointed.
As for the bed, we went to the toddler bed when DS was ~2.5. We would have kept him in there longer, but we needed it for this LO. We switched him right after Christmas, so he could get used to all the changes to his room before all of "his" started becoming the new baby's stuff. We haven't told him about the baby officially yet, so he thinks all of the baby gear that has been showing up is for our friend's son, but once we now the sex, we'll tell him, and probably let him help pick out the nursery decor from our choices (maybe). We thought the transition would be better that way. Anyway, we have him in a twin with a trundle, and one of those rails on the side. He's happy.
Like most of America, it's nasty outside so we are advised not to drive(bad roads) unless 100% necessary. I'm making a BIG 'honey do' list. Holy shit have we put soooo many things off. My end is organizing, all baby stuff, finances(better savings plan and separate college savings for DS), we need life insurance for me and DS. Morbid I know but the average funeral with no bells and whistles is 10-13k?! We just need to get our financial ducks in a row. Time to adult better than just a general savings account. I want specific accounts for certain things. I'm VERY overwhelmed.
Wish i I could say I was doing 'fun' stuff. Anyone have any advice on life insurance types and 529 plan vs. general savings for college? Or another option I might not know about?
@LoveLee85 I do have a suggestion as far as funeral goes (super morbid and kind of weird to talk about) but I would suggest looking into cemetery plots. My great grandpa recently passed and has had his bought and paid off for probably 10 years and it made it much easier on the family to have that expense taken care of. My mom was the same way and my dad and her will share a head stone that is already engraved because of my mom so that expense is not something my siblings and I will have to worry about.
ETA that DH and I have our plots already too.

I have to catch up on work so I will be at my computer most of the weekend. Luckily DH is preoccupied because his friend has VIP access to the Sony Open. So I will have the house to myself to watch football and write some briefs.
@cssme13 thank you!!! I didn't even think about that...and I know my parents want to be cremated, but that's all I know! I wonder if they have plots?! I will put that on the list to talk about soon with husband and parents. You know, it is morbid but like you said, it's so much less stressful to have a plan.
@LoveLee85 Dave Ramsey recommends an ESA before doing a 529, but I think the limit is $2k per year.
I was just thinking about Dave Ramsey! I don't know much about him other than he keeps it 'real' and so many people love him. Thank you! I will look into that.
DH and DS went to the farm this morning to unload hay and feed cows and then we are going to watch my cousin's basketball game this afternoon. We both have a three day weekend from work but we have nothing planned and I'm totally fine with that.

With the whole not feeling kicks yet and not really showing, it is hard to believe that I am pregnant sometimes. But I just looked down and areolas are darker and the line nigra started to appear just faintly, so that is quite reassuring.

@LoveLee85 our financial advisor had us put money into a mutual fund rather than 529. Can't remember the specifics, but basically he said that a) it's hard to predict what is going to happen with the education system, and b) if our kid decides not to go to college (or, in our case, ends up at a free university in Germany), it can be hard to use the money for something else without taking a large tax hit.
Tl; dr - maybe talk to an advisor before setting up a 529 specifically

FWIW, my parents put money in a mutual fund for me when I was born that I used to pay for college, and I still have funds left in it after college even though I haven't contributed to it in probably 20 years. I think that's a great way to go from my personal experience.

I'm on call this holiday weekend... womp womp... on the upside though, I have to brag about the husband - he is off and I just came home to a nice home cooked meal (he is not someone who cooks a lot, and put in a ton of effort!) and a relatively clean apartment!

That's big in my book! My husband cooks on average once every 2 years. Kudos to your hubby!
We're spending the weekend at my friend's cabin in a snowy mountain town. I'm so sad to go home tomorrow afternoon. My daughter's first snow trip has been so much fun and I definitely want to make it a yearly thing!
That's a really good point of a mutual fund rather than a 529. We have edvest just bc mil was a big wig at the company who started it owns it. And mil got us set up with it.
So so last night before we went on date night dh asks me "beer or liquor?" Like what should he drink. I gave him the stink eye. We ended up going to the party for a bit then having our late dinner then straight home bc HE was tired.
I am so jealous @kerils that is one of my favorite series (both books and movies) but the hubby doesn't watch movies let alone ones like that. I have to watch my guilty pleasures while he isn't around, but he does watch TMZ so he can't say much.
@chiquita928 I feel terrible for you, I understand how important China and Waterford pieces can be especially with the meaning and occasions behind them.
DH and I are looking at a farm property this afternoon. This property is not ideal but it is big and has some pretty cool and unique features - and because of the condition it's a for sale by owner with no traditional loans - which makes it harder to sell. It needs work and isn't ideally located so we passed on seeing it but they called us yesterday and are having a showing this afternoon and asked if we would go. DH is thinking in putting in a ridiculously low offer (and they have already dropped the price significantly) to see if anything comes of it. I would love to live in the country but I know all the work he'd have to do to get it fixed up so I won't push either way but I LOVE looking at properties so I am just excited to see it.
@Dcwtada I'm so jealous of you getting to look at a farm property. That's what we're hoping for next time we buy but we decided that's not for atleast 2-3 years if that's not pushed back, plus trying to find a place with land and ideally an old farm house. We had new neighbors built next to our house which was built in 1947 by the army so that they were near the missle silo. The new neighbors built the biggest house they could right on the legal building limits so their house is 3-5 feet from our driveway, which is a single car right up to our house. Just so jealous of the idea that you even get to think about it.
