@LuND could you try latching it to the drawer above it? Otherwise I'd maybe try adding something really bitter to the trash and waiting for him to get into it, it might deter him next time. My H coated our dogs kennel with hot sauce because he kept chewing on the bars. He's pretty much stopped that since then.
@midsomervillage + 1 for realizing how insensitive previous comments might have been. I actually still catch myself IRL sometimes. Like the other day; my bosses daughter is getting married in a few months so I was teasing him about becoming a grandpa soon and then abruptly realized how much of an ass I was being.

@ChefRamsay I don't think we can latch it to the drawer above, but I like the idea of adding hot sauce or something really unpalatable to the trash. Although, now that he's had some serious positive reinforcement from getting into the trash and having it be full of goodies a few times, I'm not sure if that will be enough. DH and I thought we just weren't closing the drawer/cabinet all of the way, and today was the first time I realized how much effort he's putting into getting into it.
@mispanda thank you! I think I'll grab some of those as well as the magnetic ones when I go to the store. My only concern about the type that you posted is that I could see him getting his nose or paw in the gap and then having enough leverage to pry it open. But, like I said I'll buy both and give both a try. Luckily neither option is expensive.
(snip) You guys, I truly don't understand the desire for a 1/1er to post in the grad thread. Like, I can't imagine wanting a group of strangers to know I got a BFP because I just don't get the point. I post this at the risk of sounding bitter, and truly it didn't bother me because I'm not having a bad day today (for once), but I just can't help but wonder why.
I'll own my bitterness. You know why they do it.

@LuND yea my LO has figured out she can get her arm in but hasn't figured out you have to push down on the lever thing to get it out. I wouldn't put it past a dog to figure it out!
@ChefRamsay that's the type of lock I'm going to try. I'm just hoping that the little plastic lever that holds it shut is beefy enough to keep my dog out!
@LuND Is there somewhere (around a corner or something) you can hide and wait for your dog to try to get into it, then squirt him with a squirt bottle? The goal is for the squirting to come from the great unknown so it's not associated with you and therefore could happen even when you aren't around. Plain water worked on ours but if it isn't working you can add a little vinegar. Also, you can buy some bitter apple and just spritz it onto the areas he would have to put his mouth on to open it. I've sprayed that stuff on brick, walls, wood trim, fabric and more and haven't had it stain anything.
As for 1/1ers... Let's just say that when I was that fresh and glitter and unicorns naive I thought I would post a grad thread to thank everyone. I really was so thankful to everyone even at that point and it seemed like it would be weird to just ghost and not even say thank you. But then again I was also temping and immediately downloaded FF and read TCOYF. It's well-intended. But...
My WTF: I'm home for the holidays and it's FW. So I'm trying to sneak OPKs to the bathroom and stuff. This morning I peed in the cup, set it down, stood up, poured the cup into the toilet and threw it away and then looked at my bone dry OPKs and cursed. So off my game and distracted that I never dipped them. Just cleaned up. Idiot! Edit: typo
@LuND I have not tried this kind but I hear good things about them. I was positive my DS would figure them out but I don't think my dog would. plus if you attached one part to the drawer above it even if he got it open he would have to figure out how to get in there because the drawer above would also open.
@swimsister That suuuuuucks. I am so sorry you had to deal with that. Hugs.
@Kiki75 Huh, I'm quite the opposite -- in cycle 3 when I convinced myself I was KTFU because of an implantation dip, I debated internally quite a bit about whether I was enough a regular to post in the grad thread. Not that it mattered obviously. Also, I have DEFINITELY made that mistake with OPKs!
@Kiki75 it's something to consider, but he's surprisingly stealthy about it. He's never attempted it when we've been in the house. I'll definitely try the bitter apple though!
And I commend you for your diligent TTC behavior while away for the holidays! At least you didn't leave a full pee cup on the counter or something (I've totally never done that btw.......except I have)
@jillibean0871 that's a good idea! Luckily none of this stuff is very expensive, so I'll probably buy a few different options to try. Hopefully my damn dog doesn't die from whatever he finds in our trash before we figure out how to keep him out of it lol
@lund we have the lock that @jillibean0871 mentioned, it works reasonably well though we have had to replace the adhesive pad twice in the last year.
my WTF is to myself... I broke my toe today, this is the 7th time I have broken this toe! Really can I not stop accidentally kicking heavy objects when I don't have shoes on?!?

@LuND I don't know what kind of dog you have, but rest assured most are fairly resilient. We have a Beagle who is a menice and has made trips to the ER vet for eating a needle, sudafed from the pharmacist, a toad and has also ingested about 20 pacifiers and multiple rocks! He's alive and well and still menicing as we speak!
Ongoing saga with DH and his parents. Now his mom is coming with him to get me from the airport because apparently he can't drive the 15 minutes to the airport by himself. They baby him so much. I love my in laws but it's like DH turns into a five year when they're around and I want to smack him!
@adirat By 3 I had a much better understanding. But at the same time, I still would hate to just disappear. And it makes me sad when I'm lurking BMBs and see someone who I know and liked and would have wanted to celebrate who didn't feel comfortable posting. The only ones I really get irritated with are the ones who don't even do a full cycle and show up in TWW or throw in some tactless verbiage like the 'what I did to get so lucky' girl.
About dogs eating crap they shouldn't, ask your vet what they recommend for immediate action. For bones and crap like that you don't want to make them barf but for things like raisins, chocolate, and onions some vets will recommend you give them hydrogen peroxide to make them puke. So it's best to have a plan before it happens.

WTF to my body. After a few hours of very moderate biking, my body aches. My knees, neck, shoulders and especially crotch/butt (from the seat) all hurt so bad.
Ugh. I am learning my body does not rebound as well in my late 20s as it did in my early 20s.

@hartmich I posted in the grad thread as a 2nd cycle, 3rd month poster (beginning of December). I had only been on here as a regular participant for about 6 weeks at that point. I hope I didn't offend or bother anyone when I posted. It obviously didn't work out and I do seriously side eye the 1/1 posters as well, but I also am just extremely bitter (especially as the 1 month mark is approaching).
But I am grateful that at least I had the support of this community when I got the sad news a few days later that I had a loss. If I hadn't posted in the grad thread, I wouldn't have had the context to come back here for support (not saying that makes right wrong or otherwise). I guess I am just rambling at this point and don't know where it's going. Sorry...feeling particularly lost tonight.
@ChefRamsay Don't feel too bad! I'm still cringing remembering my past remarks or even my past thoughts. I'll totally admit that at first, I didn't understand why there was a rule to not ask "am I pregnant" randomly on BP. facepalm.

@kiki75 thanks. Ya, yesterday wasn't a good day. I wanted to bring myself to test this morning, but couldn't do it. I have anxiety about potential disappointment and I don't feel ready for it.
