2 week visit for DS this morning. We have to switch him to sensitive formula, he's almost a full pound above his birthweight already, and he has hydrocele in his right testicle.
I gotta go pee in a cup (much easier without the belly) to ensure I didn't get a resurgence of kidney infection when I stopped the antibiotics I had been on for 2.5 months. Hopefully that is all!
39wk appt on Wednesday and last appointment until RCS. Will do another NST and I'll likely ask for another cervical check just because I'm curious. Thankfully it's not with steely blue eyes so I can relax a little.
The dr I am seeing this week I haven't seen at all throughout this pregnancy. The last time I saw her was when we went over the reality that I would likely never conceive on my own again due to severe scarring found in my last csection. She performed my laparoscopy that revealed all scarring was gone and cleared me to try for another baby. Maybe it's the hormones but I have the warm and fuzzies about seeing her on Wednesday and seeing how everything came full circle in such a miraculous way.
39 week appointment on Wednesday. Should be checked for the first time. I'm a little nervous, I keep telling myself I know he's not coming this week... but if it's still closed I will probably still be disappointed!
40 week appointment tomorrow. Will be my first cervix check. Trying not to get my hopes up for any progress, but I know I'll be bummed if all of yesterday's contractions didn't do anything. Hoping we can avoid any kind of induction talk to at least another week. Two would be even better.
39 week appointment today. We were scheduled to get my membranes swept. While doing the sweep, the NP said I was 3cm dilated and 50% effaced. Then she said she was having a hard time finding the baby's head. So they sent me over to get an ultrasound to be safe. APPARENTLY the baby somehow shifted to a transverse position, which can lead to some risks if I go into labor before she's turned.
SO since we already swept the membranes (and that worked very well last time for me), we're working on a limited timer now. We've made a 4:30 appt today to try to have her turned...which I'm not looking forward to because I know it's super uncomfortable/painful in general, and she's full term so there's even less space in there for them to maneuver her. And if that doesn't work, we're doing an emergency c-section tonight.
I had a crappy birth last time, and within one appointment, I'm seeing my plans to have the better birth swirl down the drain.
That said, in unfortunate circumstances, we actually encountered a lot of fortune if you think about it. 1) None of our providers had noticed up to this point that she was transverse, so had I gone into labor and the water broken, she could have been at increased risk for cord prolapse and other complications. 2) We're doing the membrane sweep to get her out before my kidney stone lithotripsy, and we decided in advance that we did not want their brand new midwife to do it because she has yet to really get her sea-legs it seems. When we checked in today, she was the only provider available, so we requested the NP, who is fantastic - she just doesn't usually work on that end of the practice. And SHE was the only one to even consider that the baby wasn't in the right position. Had I not had the kidney stones and we not done the membrane sweeping and the new midwife not been the only one available, we might not have known about this potential complication at all. So it sucks, but we're fortunate. I'll keep you posted on how it all turns out. I hope you all have better appointments than we did today!!!
40 week appointment Wednesday if he hasn't arrived by then. Dr plans on doing another membrane sweep. And we are discussing scheduling induction for 41 weeks. I just want this baby born.

Good luck @LinziLoo09! Your practice(well, the NP) sounds way more proactive than mine was with DD1. We had the exact same situation- transverse at 39weeks. My midwife was so passive meanwhile I was home googling the reality of it all. Thankfully after some Spinning Babies moves she flipped before my US the next morning, but they didn't even mention a c/s at that point just the US and then a possible version. It sounds like you're in really good hands with the NP picking up on it and being proactive... the flip can happen so quickly. DD1 was head down and engaged at 38wks but sideways by 39... they are sneaky little suckers. Keep us posted for sure!!
@LinziLoo09 I'm so sorry for the wildcard baby position! But I'm incredibly impressed at your ability to see all the things that have happened for the better. i can't wait for you to meet your little one! I'm thinkng of you!!!!
@LinziLoo09 sorry to hear about the added stress. We were originally DD buddies on 12/26 and maybe now we'll be birthday buddies too - starting induction tomorrow at 4pm. T&P that you get your best case scenario in the next 24 hours
@LinziLoo09 holy goodness! Good thing they caught that! I hope baby turns head down. DS was constantly changing positions, he tended to go head down when I slept on my left side. It might help? I hope that he changes so that you can have the birth you are hoping for!!!
Had my 38 weeker today. Apparently I don't get to see my midwife any more, which wouldn't bother me but has been super annoying to this point because they would only allow me to come in on the days she was in. Now with the holidays I'm seeing everybody and their mother. The midwife I saw today just finished her midwifery training (she was a nurse in thenmaternity ward for 13 years at the hospital I'll be delivering at, so she isn't technically new to this). She was kind enough to tell me that she thinks it'll be at least another week and a half for me, but if she were to place a bet she'd say after 41 weeks. Thanks a bunch lady.
They did check me today. Still at a solid 1, 40% effaced, -2 station. Blah. T is measuring at 39 weeks. They're estimating 7 1/2 lb and another 19 1/2 inches. But who knows.
Also, had very trace amounts of protein and ketones in my urine. The only other time that happened was when I was really sick and had to go to L&D for IV therapy. I don't have any other symptoms so they're thinking maybe it's due to my recent indulgence in holiday goodies. Humpf.
UPDATE: We gave the external version (DEAR LORD THAT HURT) three tries with no success. I'm wondering if there's something keeping her in that position - cord, placenta, an alien in my uterus, etc. And I've been contracting around every seven minutes, so we don't have the opportunity to wait any longer. They've got us booked in the OR for 10pm, and hopefully DD2 will be coming tonight. And after that procedure, I have absolutely no moral qualms about the decision. We did all we could do. Now I'm just excited to meet her and to not be pregnant anymore I'll post an update on the main board when I can. Thank you all for your support! If I miss anything prior to my next post, I hope all of your baby things go smoothly!
Regular ol' 38ish-week appointment today. Apparently my baby doesn't like the doppler -- it always makes his heart race. Poor kid. Midwife doesn't do cervical checks, so I have no idea where I'm at, but I'm anticipating going way late like my mom. Yay.

40 wk f/u today with BPP. Everything checking out well but they are estimating baby over 9 lbs. which seems huge considering my other two were both under 8lbs and how I am carrying. Baby's head is super low. Declined the cervical check and membrane sweep since I'm pretty sure I'm not dilated at all and it would just make me worry more. Talks of induction if I go past 41wks, I kind of gave the OB the stink eye when she brought it up. At least she didn't bring up shoulder dystocia or anything else scary. I can push out a 9 lb baby no problem right?!! starting to have my doubts and wavering confidence that this baby is going to come out without any complications.
@zubenescamali You've got this! Those size estimates have such a high margin of error. Don't let it freak you out. Keep on keeping on. Big baby or not, you can do it!
39 week appointment today. She's still high, not dropped yet, my cervix is still thick and 1cm dilated on the outside of my cervix but the inside is still closed Talks of induction in 2 weeks if she's not here by then. Really hoping she comes in the next week and a half lol
Had my 39 week appt today. Lasted all of 2 seconds. My midwifery is very non-invasive, so I have yet to be checked - not that I really want to be. I feel like I would then start obsessing over what she would see. Apparently this week was a busy one at the birth center, they were full up last night. Hopefully our baby decides to come during a lull in the action!
To tempt fate, we made our 40 week appointment for 10 days from now, on the 30th :-P if I make it to that appointment, I'm going out to eat some spicy food for lunch and a very long walk at the mall right afterwards.
Induction tonight!! Calling at 7:30pm to see if I can come in...new home will be the hospital for a few days (hoping not too long). May check out my last yoga class before calling to see if that will help little guy out.
First cervix check today one day she of due date. 1cm. 50%. -2 station. Pretty disappointing after a few hours of contractions on Sunday. Oh well. Just have to remind myself that stuff doesn't predict the future. Although OB did sound pretty confident when she said "see you next week".
@tinattt23 thanks for the encouraging words! I'm going to read through my birth affirmations again today.
The weight is often squishy cute baby chub which is no problem to push out- and yea , the last US for my son had his weight 2lbs higher than birth weight!

I am almost exactly where you are... except you have 10% on me. I want this baby out nowwwwww!
Went to my NST and baby wasn't moving as much as they'd like, so back to the hospital for monitoring. I'm here now and so far everything looks good they just want to check my fluids. I'd be totes cool with if they just wanted to extract this child today, though.
Oh and cervix is closed for business still. Baby's head isn't engaged. My dr observed that I have a really narrow pelvis so she's thankful I'm opting for the RCS because it would explain my inability to labor on my own last time. She thinks I'd definitely be at risk of an emergency section again if I tried for VBAC. That was oddly comforting... people keep asking if I'm doing a VBAC or if I would if the baby decided to come before the RCS and I've pretty confidently said I'd still go with the RCS no matter what. I think people want to hear that I want to try for a VBAC because it's the "natural" way our bodies were made to deliver, but I still just have this instinctual feeling that my body isn't quite there... but instincts aren't very convincing. Anyway, my dr was also really happy to see me. I shared earlier the role she played in us making the decision to even try for another one and since I haven't seen her at all throughout this pregnancy she had no idea I was pregnant. She was so excited and talked about how she's still so amazed over everything that transpired.
Aside from being sent to the hospital, today's appointment was good for the soul❤️
On Monday, I had an unscheduled check up with my ob/gyn. Last week I had a hemorrhage incident with several medium/large clots, then I felt what I thought was a pelvic organ prolapse afterwards. Over the weekend, the on-call doc said it'd be good if I went in on Monday to see what's going on. When I got there, the doc said it was not a prolapse, and she pulled out some huge honkin' thing that she thought was a piece of the placenta. Next up, a sonogram to see if there was anything else in there. The sonogram tech said there was still a bunch of "junk" in there and seemed confused that I wasn't feeling sick. The doc asked if I'd had anything to eat or drink, then said I should go immediately to the hospital for a D&C.
I called my mom to come watch the baby, and husband and I headed to the hospital. Long story short, I had the D&C around 4pm, was home by 8. The doctor who performed the D&C (same guy who delivered the baby 5 weeks ago) said that he thought the chunk was a piece of "calcified placenta" - something I still need to Google to understand.
Anyway, that's my weekly checkup. Glad I went in to check on the "prolapse"!
