Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

*TW* RE after 2?

Hello everyone,

I am unfortunately back here after my second MC. My OB said she usually doesn't refer to an RE until 3 recurrent losses, but also said I can see an RE if I like. I plan to make an appointment with an RE, but am wondering if they will sort of be "well you only had 2, try again then we can talk" or if they will actually take some steps with me. I am just imagining a third and then going to the RE and the thought of another loss before getting any help is terrifying. When did any of you go to an RE? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies

Re: *TW* RE after 2?

  • I  recognize you from the TTTC board! Again I'm so very sorry for your losses and that you find yourself in this place.  I hadn't had any miscarriages before my OBGYN sent us to an RE, we had been TTC for a little over a year before she sent us.  You need to do what's best for you, I wouldn't hesitate to push your OBGYN for the referral if you need one to see an RE and if you don't need one I say just do it. After my second miscarriage I pushed my RE for recurrent miscarriage testing which I'm hoping will give me some peace of mind.  Don't be afraid to be pushy when it comes to this process, you have to do what's best for you!

  • @worldtravler0522 thank you so much for your insight. I have an appointment next Tuesday and am really hoping that we can get some answers. I think I am typically a more shy person and am finding that I need to be a little more vocal/aggressive in seeking what we want and need. Thank you for your support :)

  • @GG620 I understand your pain in being shy.  I don't want people to hate me or feel like I'm being be annoying with wanting questions but going to the RE has helped me move past it.  It's amazing how much paying a chunk of money will get you over the being shy haha. Good luck with your appointment next week and keep us posted!

  • After my second MC, I got a new dr that would see me for two losses. The dr did a large panel of blood work and scheduled a sonohysterogram for me so I'm happy there's a plan! In medicine it's always best to be your own best advocate and make sure your voice is heard!
I'm sorry you have to go through this!
  • My doctor referred me to an re after my second loss. They did a bunch of tests including blood work and a hysteroscopy. We didn't find any causes for my losses. But he did make some recommendations as we try again. So I am more hopeful and he wants to follow me for the first ten weeks when we get pregnant again. Going to an re made me feel better.
