I know we have all heard our fair share, but someone I know said to me today "Well, I hope you are roughing up your nipples, because boys nurse way more aggressively than girls!"
I have heard from several friends and family that they "loved" being pregnant. I think they must have forgotten what it is like to be pregnant in the surge of hormones that happen after giving birth.

I can honestly say when I was pregnant with L I adored it. This time was great until the cervix BS that is currently sucking the joy out of everything.

My grandma says it's not safe to lift you arms above your head while pregnant. Apparently we should all have some really nasty dirty hair for 9 months...
Love it...with all my heartburn, this little girl is going to come out with longer hair than me. And I was super lucky in that I've not had any morning sickness, but she is still a girl.
I haven't had anything said to me directly, but I'm tired of having to defend how big the bump is when I'm asked my due date. My EDD is 12/6, but I keep telling people I'm due right around Thanksgiving...it's only 10 days before my due date, but for some reason November is more acceptable to people than December is based on the size of my bump. (I think this is a page from @maamawaabangi 's book...and it totally works!)
"Your first one is *ALWAYS* late." - I can't tell you how many times I've heard that one.
I also keep hearing about how I'll be in labor for *so long* since it's my first pregnancy. This may be true, but no, mother, I'm still not driving 1.5 hours to Thanksgiving at 39 weeks, just because I'll "definitely" have enough time to make it back to the hospital.

Yeah, I've been getting this one lately too. EDD of 12/6, and my aunt is currently pouting because I'm not going to drive 5.5 hours to Northern Minnesota (hello, bad weather?) the weekend of Thanksgiving for her 50th wedding anniversary party. Newsflash lady, 38 weeks pregnant or not, 5.5 hours in the car is not fun. I can't even picture how I would start to get comfortable on a road trip like that right now...let alone in another 8 weeks!
ALSO ADDING - my girlfriend from high school just had her little one - 3 WEEKS EARLY! Not induced, no concerns that would result in her going early, just that the baby was ready. So there!

Most OBs will give you travel restrictions starting around 36 weeks. Mine were no further than 1 hr from the hospital.

I'm the oldest. I was ten days early and my mom's labor was about 4 hours total. I'm hoping my labor goes like hers!
Girls will "steal your beauty" - explaining why I get pregnancy acne instead of a glow.
I also have gotten lectures on how your heart rate shouldn't go above 140 when exercising, but if you look at the evidence, that was an arbitrary cut off decided in the 80's with no research basis whatsoever. The primary concern in exercise is not to do any exercises that are jolting/dangerous and could hurt the uterus/fetus (e.g., horseback riding, boxing, tackle football...) and don't get overheated. But even some OBs are misinformed about exercise in pregnancy. It's annoying.
Last pregnancy I also had a woman try to tell me that my anatomy scan determining DD's sex was wrong because I was carrying so low it HAD to be a boy.
Oh! I must wear a safety pin at all times, especially during full moons or eclipses of any kind. Otherwise, I will surely go into labor.
wait.....wut?
That is just craziness!!
I've been told: You HAVE to have the line negra to have a girl, if it's a half line it doesn't count.....nope nope nope Oh you're baby is moving lots? well you're going to have a really active fussy baby then!
Both of the above from the same know It all coworker that had her baby in April....smh
"I worked in labor & delivery/at an OB office for X years, so just by looking at you...." - two former coworkers -If I can't tell you're pregnant from looking at you from behind, it's a boy. I'm always right. -The way you're carrying, it's definitely a girl. I'm always right. SOMEONE HAS TO BE WRONG BECAUSE I PROMISE YOU THERE'S ONLY ONE IN THERE
I've been told that drinking caffeine while pregnant will keep your baby from sleeping through the night...DS is a great sleeper and I had the MAX caffeine allowed when pregnant with him.
I have a friend who can't have kids and thinks she has a 6th sense about the sex. She hadn't even seen me when I told her and said boy.
Then I had two older ladies tell me that they are never wrong and that I was having a girl. Friend was right. Baby is a boy.
The heartburn thing was true with my mom with me. But MIL had bad heartburn with Dh and he had no hair. So we shall see.
I'm also in the frustrated about defending the size of my bump camp. I'm being compared to a woman at work who is due in February but on her 5th pregnancy. "Your so tiny." Just stop. I'm like a foot taller than all of you!!! Of course I'm small.

That's good to know, as I've been maxing out my daily caffeine intake at least a few times a week.☕️

Oh, I wasn't even going to wait for the doctor's restrictions. I told her back in July we would not be attending! My parents are making their decision whether or not to go at the last possible minute. They don't want to be 5.5 hours away if I go in labor early with their first grandbaby
"Your first one is *ALWAYS* late." - I can't tell you how many times I've heard that one.
This was going to be mine! Every. single. person. told me to expect to go late with DD and that my labor would be a billion hours long. Guess who was born EXACTLY on her due date after 6ish hours of labor? IN YOUR FACE OLD LADY

I was told if you lift your arms above your head the umbilical cord will wrap around the baby's neck lol

Hey b*tch, don't make me feel bad for having a breezy pregnancy so far!
Such BS. Up until 36weeks with L it was a breeze. He is a super chill baby. Like we literally took him to cards in the drive home from the hospital, and he has gone ever since. He STTN from day 2.
