Hi all. I'm excited to be a new member!!! I'm 37 and ttc. I have 2 daughters (13 and 10) from previous marriage but want one child with my new partner. Had IUI in May but BFN. We did sex selection and partner's count was awful. His total motile sperm post-wash and sex selection was less than 4 million. His motility was right at 30%. Tried IUI again this cycle but did not opt for sex selection. His post wash count was over 179 million with 86% motility. SA also states that mean straightness is 78%. What does that mean exactly? I have another 6 days to wait before finding out results. If unsuccessful, should I pursue IVF?
Welcome! I suggest reading and rereading the Newbie guide. Your question would be more appropriate for the TWW thread. Jump in there and also introduce yourself in the weekly Newbie thread.
On this board, we avoid "Google" type questions in our own threads and personal threads in general, as we are community who thrives on both giving AND receiving support, snark, and sexy scientific facts in a two-way street sort of fashion.
Wait no timeout. So many questions. Why are you doing fertility treatment? Your partner's counts seem strong and you have children from a previous marriage so did something change on your side? Is this elective since you were doing sex selection? How long have you been trying (sounds like one IUI)? Seems VERY early to jump to IVF unless there is some medical reason. Did you read the newbie thread? Did you google "mean straightness"? The answer is there. I have so many more questions, but more generally I'm just confused....
Try the Infertility board as those ladies have had this test done more than most here. If you do post on the Infertility board, I would recommend lurking a lot before posting on an existing thread. They are a close knit community.

Do you actually have an infertility diagnosis or did you just start doing IUI for sex selection purposes (which I didn't even know was possible ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)? If you don't have IF or you're not in a same-sex couple, I'm not sure how well you'd fit over there. Most everyone on that board, myself included, are there because we cannot get, or are unlikely to get, pregnant without ART. (ETA on the other hand, if you're doing sex selection to avoid passing on a genetic disease prevalent in a specific sex, I think that would be a different issue entirely.)
FWIW your count at your second IUI was superb. I wouldn't worry about mean straightness or whatever. DH has male factor infertility and my RE cares only about his motile count.
Yeah I'm side-eyeing the sex selection. If you're only doing it bc you have two girls and want a boy, get outta here with that ish. If there's a legitimate reason then I'll take back my side eye. As for mean straightness, that's a question for your doctor.

Same here. I was just about to say that until I saw @eggplantface 's response. @Babymnz83 Unless there is a legit reason for the sex selection, you should be trilled with what you get (even if it's another girl) - I know I would be and I am assuming so would any of the other ladies on this board. Also, IMO (remember I am not a doctor) I would suggest not doing IVF unless your doctor says you should. Based on the very little information provided it doesn't seem like you would need to - again it's just my opinion.

If you are only pursuing fertility treatments as a means to sex selection then I would absolutely NOT recommend IVF. I went through IVF myself, it's a long, expensive, and brutal process and IMO should absolutely not be used purely as a method of sex selection. I would even side eye your RE if he or she is OK with you doing that.....
ETA: even IVF doesn't guarantee you will get the sex you want. I have a friend who did IVF and ended up with 8 Embryos-- ALL of which were boys. We did not do PGS testing on our embryos to find out the sex because all I wanted was a heathy baby.. Boy or girl
