@Patience7150 - my knitting mojo has been missing since my loss in December but I'm hoping it will pick up soon because normally I'm obsessed with knitting.
If y'all are interested in knitting and/or crochet and haven't joined Ravelry, you really should. It is an amazing resource, the likes of which I've never seen. Lots of helpful people on there, an easy way to search patterns (free and paid; and see reviews of the patterns because not all patterns are well written), and you can also see photos that people have posted of the projects that are associated with patterns you are interested in. It is free to join and I love it to bits

I was never a fan of knitted items growing up. I always thought they were so old looking... Now that I'm older, I'm loving them more and more and wishing I had made my grandmothers teach me. I bought knitting items a couple months ago because they were on clearance- hubby called me grandma. Eh oh well, I'm excited to learn. I'm hoping it will help me relax.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
@winchestergirl on the blanket you mentioned was a granny square, does it look like she did each stripe individually and then went back and attached them with the white? To me it looks like the colors are all one direction and the white parts are in another? I am a beginner at this and still have issues reading patterns so I will have to work on it and am not sure I would be able I would be able to figure out how to connect two pieces... but I am curious your opinion...
@FishyMom That's exactly how it looks to me. Each stripe is worked almost like a scarf (straight, separate), then bordered and joined in white. There are several different methods of joining granny squares, so you could choose whichever one was easiest and gives you the look you want.
@winchestergirl it seems like that would make the blanket a smaller project cause you would feel like there are several finish lines vs just one large (feeling) of never ending stitches... I am very intrigued by this project. Maybe I will start making some stripes and see if I can figure it out. Thanks for your help. I am sure there will be tons more questions before I finish this one!
@phlox728 I have a Cricut and LOVE it. I have a lot of projects I need/want to do.
I'm a Cricut-er too! My hubby thinks I'm nuts with all the things I've been rattling off about making for baby! My cousin decorated plain bottles, wipes containers, sippy cups... I've got so many ideas!
@tishb I never thought about doing the labels and stuff for the bottles and things!! A WHOLE NEW WORLD!! I need to do DD thermos with her name but that's about all I have thought of at this point!
@peachesnbean The only thing I can't tell from the picture is if they are doing the inner circle/s of the granny square in the color of the appliqué, or if the whole appliqué is attached after the fact.
If you can find a free pattern for the little hedge hogs you probably can put it together without their pattern.

Based off this- looks after the fact?

@WinchesterGirl - I am going to bite the bullet and buy the pattern. I think I'll do the blanket in a light blue. If baby ends up being a girl I will accent with more feminine colors Or- what do you think? I like the white, but worry about white+babies

We finally finished our kitchen (started it this winter)! I sewed the curtains and stained our cabinets. We were 1/2 of the way into the cabinets when I found out I was pregnant. So they sat half finished for quite some time, I was just to tired!!
We (I) am doing Harry Potter themed for babe's room and so far today DS and I painted a wall and I started on the mobile that is going to be the flying keys from The Philosophers Stone. I just need to add wings and a ring at the top to hang it.
@tishb, my DS would love the one with the tie. He wears his real little tie around everywhere. Just clips it to his tshirts and he's good to go. He likes looking formal and official lol I showed him the picture and he really wants one.
I am super jealous of the Harry Potter themed anything that @peachesnbean and @kashy17 have!! I love Harry... Fun fact: I went to HP world alone in Jan walked into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter heard the theme music got teary and had to back out... I wasn't expecting the theme music and it overwhelmed me. lol I am the biggest nerd ever!
All this Harry Potter talk is making me want one of those iced butterbeers they serve in the park! I have no idea what's in that creamy top stuff, but it tastes like unicorn tears.
I'm going to start knitting a baby blanket this weekend, I loom knitted my twins blankets while I was pregnant with them and on bed rest. I'm also going to be making myself so belly bands much cheaper then buying them. I have so many projects planned for this pregnancy I don't know if I'll get them all done.
I got my Learn to Knit Kit and I'm loving it! I've only been working on 1 stitch right now but I'm excited! It came with a ton of yarn, a set of needles, and the book. I had to watch a couple videos to get the stitch, but I'm loving it so far! @kswiger06 you were interested, yeah?
I left H and the dogs alone with my knitting for 2.5 minutes while I peed and brushed my teeth. The dogs grabbed the skein and DESTROYED it. H does not understand why I'm upset.
@WinchesterGirl finally got to look at it during a 2 hour drive today and yes, it is salvageable! I managed to get it balled up with minimal knot removal.
