This is a weekly check-in for those in their 2nd trimester: weeks 14 through the end of week 27.
Congrats to all the strong ladies who have made it this far! It's such a great feeling and we've all accomplished so much! We are now 1 week closer to the end of this especially long journey we call "infertility".
Please post below a little about yourself, how many beans you have growing inside, if you have found out the sex(es) and what your EDD is. Please also let us know how far you've made it on your journey and when your next appt is and what for.
As I am taking up this check-in for the time being, I would very much appreciate a heads-up if your 3rd trimester starts the next week, as I am horrible in remembering and calculating this!
QOTW: As my nieces (5-7) are sitting next to me and I asked for a question..they wanted to know your girls favorite colour. QOTW: Would you buy a bassinet, a crib, pack 'n' play, .. or something else. And why?
@tvh1982 I'll be jumping over here on this board now! My EDD 1/27/2016. We don't know the gender yet, hoping to find out next week!
QOTW: My favorite color is red, but I also really like deep purple. QOTW#2: My sister gave me a pack and play this last weekend that she no longer needs, yay! I will need a bassinet of some kind as we plan to have wee one spend the first few weeks sleeping in our room before we graduate them to the nursery.

Hi All. 17 weeks here. I felt the first tickle yesterday from the baby. It was pretty neat. Favorite color is purple. I will get all of the above. I think each serves its own purpose.
Hi everyone. QOTW - favorite color is purple, followed by red. (Too bad we're not having a girl to purchase lots of cute purple outfits) QOTW2 - I think right now I'm leaning towards a bassinet and a crib, at least initially. We plan on having the baby sleep next to us for the first while before transitioning to a crib. I think pack and play will come in handy a little later. So eventually we'll have all of them.
@Drove2u that's awesome! What did the movement feel like?

QOTW: my favourite colour is turquoise. I'm addicted to this colour. QOTW: I will have s bassinet from my sisters husbands side of the family. And my bestfriend has a crib available so I'm sorted. A pack 'n' play I will have to for travels, (my sister has that one too) and am planning on making a babynest, just cause it is fun to make
No check ups or anything. 3 weeks in NL, so won't be checked until back in Norway.
I finally understand how it is if someone else wants to feel the kicks as my mother kept trying, but every time she got up or put her hand on my belly this little 'sh*t' stopped kicking. We got it though in the end. So when my sister popped by I just took her hand while we talked when kicks started, without a notice, and that worked right away. My nieces have poked the belly and made me drink cold coke, but nothing.
@tvh1982 That's so funny! Glad that people got to feel the kicks!

Hey! 22 weeks now. I have 2 upcoming appts this week (Tues/Thurs). It's crazy how often I feel him move/kick nowadays. DH & DD have both been able to feel him as well.
QOTW1:green is my favorite color QOTW2: I will definitely own a pack & play & a crib. If I was given a bassinet maybe I'd use it, I just feel like they aren't in it long enough to purchase on my own.

Hello ladies! Hope everyone had a great weekend. We have our anatomy scan on Thursday. My MIL is in town so I told her she is welcome to come with us to that if she'd like. She was really excited.
QOTW1: I've always been partials to blues... pretty much any shade but I do love turquoise too. QOTW2: I had a friend give me a bassinet that I will probably keep in our room. Then we'll have a crib for his room when we transition and I actually have the cradle my parents had me in that I want to use in our living room etc. I registered for a pack and play which would be nice to have too. Especially if we are going somewhere etc.

Hey ladies! New to the 2nd tri check in! @tvh1982 Due Jan 26, 2017 and we are having a girl! Currently 14+4!
QOTW: My favorite color is green. The only colors I don't wear are red, orange, yellow.
QOTW2: We will have all 3. We are being gifted a bassinet for our bedroom (APA guidelines recommend that infants sleep in the parent(s) room for the first 6 months of life to reduce the risk of SIDS), we are also being gifted a pack and play for when we travel. We have several crib offers for hand-me-downs but I think that I want to buy a new one... I have a gift card to Amazon so it should be pretty inexpensive and I love it!
Qotw1 I like blue, but I tend to go through phases of liking different colors.
Qotw2 I would get all three. The baby will probably start off sleeping in our room in a bassinet. I will have a c-section and dh has back issues, so I'm looking for something that is high enough that we both can reach easily. We'll use the pack 'n play in the family room or when we visit the grandparents. We'll have the crib for when the baby moves into his own room.
@dragonfaerie I'd love some ideas too, but I also can't find any. My friend was raving about her bassinet, but it's $250! Crazy expensive, but then she showed it to me and it really is great. She has the Halo one. I'm hoping her baby outgrows it so I can buy it from her at a lower price

@LynnNJ I just mentioned it above, but the Halo bassinet my friend showed me has adjustable height and swivels 360 degrees. It also has a bendable front so you can easily press down on the front part to reach into the bassinet. If you don't mind spending $250, it's great. I haven't looked into other options yet, so this is the only one I've seen so far like this.

I'm part of a Facebook city area buy/sell/trade group that is really cool, lots of baby stuff pops up once in a while. I'll be keeping my eye out for a bassinet. I got a great little swing that plays music for $30 (new it was $70) and I'll likely buy some clothes and other toys from the same seller. I highly recommend peeking around for community groups in your area!

@Tulips29 I was looking at that one and almost registered for it. That's a nice one and yes, expensive for a bassinet. However I noticed that the base is really big. We don't have a lot of room next to the bed. Getting a 2nd pack n play for upstairs can be used as well. Once he grows out of the bassinet part, we could possibly keep the extra packed in the car for when we visit the grandparents. However if we put the pack n play next to the bed, it will be tight.
I saw the Graco Dream Suite (bassinet) in Buy Buy Baby. I found it on the Babies R Us website, so I registered for it. It was small enough that it could easily go next to the bed, it's probably a good height.
Hi all, so great to have many people in this group and nice to read that everyone is doing well. I have a regular appointment tomorrow, otger than that nothing to report. My favorite color is blue and all the shades of blue , mostly navy so i accidentally choose 'boy' clothes for my girl but i guess it does t matter at this stage ) I still havent decided on the sleeping issue. I am hoping that i could get a second hand bassinet . Otherwise i will try to go with a crib and maybe a cosleeper only. I dont want to spend money on a bassinet and its matress and the sheets etc. We have a small apartment so i think i wont get a pack n play yet. I feel like the cheapest person of the group
Hello! We just had our anatomy scan this morning (21 weeks) and it turns out we're having a boy! Even though we were both hoping for a girl, I stilll started crying when the sonographer told us, I am just so thrilled to have made it this far!! So we're on Team Blue, and little guy is healthy.
QOTW1: favorite color is yellow, which I guess is gender-neutral.
QOTW2: We've only just started putting our registry list together so I don't really know for for sure what to get, but I'm thinking all three? Maybe?

I guess I jumped the gun thinking we were having an u/s on the 10th. It looks like it probably is just Doppler and general appointment, so no gender reveal for us then. DH and I are debating calling the lab and asking for the gender since we did PGS. It doesn't really matter, but I'm disappointed because I thought we'd get to see our wee one again sooner. Maybe I'll get a surprise and we will have a u/s...

I'm anxiously waiting for my next appointments. Have a regular OB checkup tomorrow and 16 weeks b/w next week. Yesterday I thought I saw a smidgen of dark brown when I wiped, so naturally I freaked out. But then I didn't see anything all day after that and nothing today, so I wonder if my eyes were playing tricks on me. Every time I seem to relax a bit, something is bound to drive me crazy again.

So I'll be 18 weeks tomorrow but honestly I am huge. And I feel like it's mostly constipation. I haven't had a good poop in over 4 months. I've even take stool softeners and nothing. Next up is milk of magnesia. Has anyone taken this before? I've never took laxatives in my life but now I'm getting depressed. My stomach is just ridiculously bloated and no way that could be the baby.
@Drove2u I don't think you are necessarily too big for how far along you are, every body grows differently. I'm bigger than I thought I would be at 14 weeks. I'm sorry that you have not been able to go to the bathroom though. I've never taken MoM, but I hope it does the trick for you! I will say this, I would take it on a day when you get to be at home. You never know how your body will respond to a laxative, especially since you are so backed up.

I just had my regular OB appointment this morning and everything is still looking good. I got my prescription for the breast pump so now I can order that and take it off of my huge to do list! I also should be hearing back from the OB within the next couple of weeks to schedule my c section date!
QOTW 1: I love girly colors like pink and purple QOTW 2: For now we are only planning on a crib and pack and play. I am not sure about the bassinet because I would ideally like for the baby to sleep in its crib beginning day one if possible. We are also gonna do a rock and play because I hear that babies can sleep in that as well if for whatever reason the crib is not working.

@Drove2u I think you look great, not too big at all ! I learned that there is not a `normal` or `abnormal` for bump growing and do not beat yourself up for this. You are fine as long as your weight gain and baby`s size is good. It really depends on the uterus position, your body etc. I am sorry about the constipation though, until at around 18 weeks I always had bloating though even though I never had constipation. I also decided to register for a Rock-n-Play sleeper , my friends really liked it to sleep the baby in.
@Drove2u I agree with above, you look great! Don't worry about bump size. As long as baby is healthy and growing well, you're fine. Sorry to hear about the constipation. I don't have advice or suggestions, but I'm hoping you can find relief soon.

Hi everyone! Joining the group. I'm 17 weeks today. Due date is January 10th. We know it's a boy from the PGS. My favorite color is purple. We decided to do the babies room as a classic Winnie the Pooh theme. I bought a quilt but that's it. I will probably get all of the things in the QOTW number 2. I'm also on a beg, barter, buy site so I've been keeping my eye out for good bargains on gently used things. I'm overwhelmed on which brand to choose so I haven't done too much research. I will check some of the ones you ladies have suggested. @Drove2u I was told to try MOM when I was constipated because of the Zofran. I was able to use the stool softness with some relief. Doc said Miralax was ok too. I haven't used that during pregnancy though. I feel your pain though. I was so uncomfortable for some time.
@Drove2u That is about what I looked like at 17 weeks.
AFM- OB appt went well. HR is in the 150's as usual for him. I spoke with the Dr about my terrible pubic bone & L sciatic pain. He said its common in some pregnancies and is known as "pubic symphysitis", it's basically my hips spreading as they should, but not everyone feels it like I do Not much can be done, but I'm going to try prenatal yoga on Thursday night to see if it helps. All is well otherwise. My belly is measuring spot on @ 22 weeks.

Thank you all. You're making me feel better. As thrilled as I am about this pregnancy I am having some body image issues too. But I'll get over it. It's getting a little better. I was supposed to swim today as part of my daily exercise but I think I'll be taking some milk of magnesia and sitting home.
@Drove2u I think you look great! I understand the body image issue though - I am struggling with them as well. The bloat from all the medications looked better on me than just the growing uterus that is squishing my tummy pudge into a nice roll. Lol. it isn't stopping me from eating ice cream every now and then though!

capps42613 - Did your OB recommend a maternity support belt? My physical therapist recommended one to me to help with sciatica especially during pregnancy. They have 2 types. one is just the belt around your hips & the other has a strap that comes up over the belly in addition to the hips. They are supposed to help distribute the weight of your belly and adjust it correctly on your hips.

Sorry been missing the last few days. DH and I had to travel to Florida his grandmother is not doing so well and will probably pass soon. im not sure what I'm going to buy for the twins because I will need two of each which could get pricey. Def getting a crib for both but not sure about the Rock and play and the pack and plays . Favorite colors are coral or turquoise
capps42613 - I typically have it on my left side too. So far I haven't had to use it yet but I would imagine in the next several weeks I will be. Especially as my belly gets bigger. ultratomato - Sorry to hear about DH grandmother! Hope you guys had a good visit with her while you were there.

@ultratomato sorry to hear about DH's grandmother.

Re: ***2nd Trimester Check-In, Week of August 1st***
@tvh1982 I'll be jumping over here on this board now! My EDD 1/27/2016. We don't know the gender yet, hoping to find out next week!
QOTW: My favorite color is red, but I also really like deep purple. QOTW#2: My sister gave me a pack and play this last weekend that she no longer needs, yay! I will need a bassinet of some kind as we plan to have wee one spend the first few weeks sleeping in our room before we graduate them to the nursery.

Favorite color is purple. I will get all of the above. I think each serves its own purpose.
QOTW - favorite color is purple, followed by red. (Too bad we're not having a girl to purchase lots of cute purple outfits)
QOTW2 - I think right now I'm leaning towards a bassinet and a crib, at least initially. We plan on having the baby sleep next to us for the first while before transitioning to a crib. I think pack and play will come in handy a little later. So eventually we'll have all of them.

I saw the Graco Dream Suite (bassinet) in Buy Buy Baby. I found it on the Babies R Us website, so I registered for it. It was small enough that it could easily go next to the bed, it's probably a good height.
I have a regular appointment tomorrow, otger than that nothing to report.
My favorite color is blue and all the shades of blue , mostly navy so i accidentally choose 'boy' clothes for my girl but i guess it does t matter at this stage )
I still havent decided on the sleeping issue.
QOTW1: favorite color is yellow, which I guess is gender-neutral.
QOTW2: We've only just started putting our registry list together so I don't really know for for sure what to get, but I'm thinking all three? Maybe?

I'm anxiously waiting for my next appointments. Have a regular OB checkup tomorrow and 16 weeks b/w next week. Yesterday I thought I saw a smidgen of dark brown when I wiped, so naturally I freaked out. But then I didn't see anything all day after that and nothing today, so I wonder if my eyes were playing tricks on me. Every time I seem to relax a bit, something is bound to drive me crazy again.

My belly is measuring spot on @ 22 weeks.

capps42613 - Did your OB recommend a maternity support belt? My physical therapist recommended one to me to help with sciatica especially during pregnancy. They have 2 types. one is just the belt around your hips & the other has a strap that comes up over the belly in addition to the hips. They are supposed to help distribute the weight of your belly and adjust it correctly on your hips.
