How far along are you? EDD?  7w1d , 03/19/17

How are you feeling? Pretty good! I surprisingly felt great while we were out of town over the weekend, minus not getting great sleep, but the nausea stayed away for the most part so I was very happy! Feeling sooo excited for our first appointment this Thursday! This week can't go quick enough :)

R/R/Other: Drama (strong word) between my mom and MIL. So my mom already has grandchildren and she is called Grammy, and MIL will be a first time grandparent and decided she also wants to be called Grammy, and they also both have the same first name. My mom is all oh helllll no that's my name lol. And I swear I've very seldom heard anyone use the name Grammy and they both so happen to like it? So random. I want DH's mom to go with Nana, but she doesn't seem to be sold. Hopefully they both act like adults and get over it lol.

Questions: I've been having the minor freak outs about mine and DH's relationship changing dramatically, although I know it will be fine and for the better blah blah blah, but sometimes I just sit there and am like I love our relationship, I don't want it to change! But I know that's irrational and I have to get over it, anyone else been having that feeling? Or if you already have a child, let us know your thoughts on how your relationship changed!

GTKY: What would be your ideal place to live? City/suburb/middle of nowhere? By the beach/in the mountains?

I think I would love to live on a lake. I love the beach but I'm not down with tropical storms and having to evacuate your house. Plus beaches usually = very hot in the summer! And I'm more about mild temperatures. So a lake, within 20 minutes of a town for convenience. Although I often dream of living on a secluded island where I don't have to deal with many people at all :D

How are you feeling? Generally pretty good. I still feel like if I hadn't been trying for this and didn't know when to expect my period, I still wouldn't have any idea. It's strangely both good and bad.

R/R/Other: Just two more weeks until my first appointment! It still seems like so much longer to wait to have someone confirm that things are going as they should. **TW - losses** While I haven't previously experienced a loss, both of my sisters have had initial ultrasounds that showed losses so I worry. Lots. And it's with that plus a lack of symptoms, it's hard to get into the whole thing.

    Questions: Nothing right now!

GTKY: What would be your ideal place to live? City/suburb/middle of nowhere? By the beach/in the mountains?
I really like where we are now. Our house backs up to over 1,000 acres of forest land (privately owned but there are miles of trails that people are welcome to use) and we're just a 2-mile walk from the beach (rocky, kinda chilly, PNW-style), but we're also just over an hour from a big city or half an hour to a decently-sized city. So we can do the city things but we can also get away from all of it.

How far along are you? EDD?  6+3, March 24th

How are you feeling? Still feeling good!  I was super bloated on Saturday when we were at a wedding and I was nervous that everyone would notice it with my dress but nobody said anything.  Thank goodness or I would have died of embarrassment!

R/R/Other:  I am REALLY glad that we are done with all our weddings for this summer because I am so over being the only sober person at a wedding!  Wasting an open bar might have made me tear up a little this weekend...I swear I'm not an alcoholic!

Questions:  I don't have any today

GTKY: What would be your ideal place to live? City/suburb/middle of nowhere? By the beach/in the mountains?  We live in the mountains and I absolutely love it but we are nowhere near the ocean and I would love to be closer.  If I could have the beauty/ seclusion of the mountains and be less than an hour from the ocean that would be ideal!

@Schumerator I definitely spend a lot of time worrying about this too.  I really enjoy the lifestyle and relationship that DH and I have at this point in our lives and thinking about that changing scares me! Unfortunately I don't have any wise words for you, but you are not alone!

ETA: @Kiki75 Your location sounds amazing!  I am jealous!

  • @Kiki75 sending good vibes your way and hoping that is not the case for you! I hope after your first appointment you feel more at ease. I hate this wondering period, especially if we are not huddled over a toilet like some others seem to be.

@SienaC Not drinking in situations where you usually would has got me down a little bit too! Especially in the middle of summer when a good cold drink sounds so good, especially at an open bar for you! When we went to our cabin this weekend and everyone was drinking during the day it was weird for me to be like, no you really can't have one lol. Everyone kept saying thanks for me driving and staying sober and I kept being like stop thanking me, I have to do it haha! I'm not an alcoholic either but it's just a strange new dynamic!

    How are you feeling?
I feel how you feel right before you come down with the flu. No energy, nauseas, I just want to lay on the couch all day.

R/R/Other:  My husband has been so good to me today. Making me food and catering to my every need. He is the best.

    Questions:

GTKY: What would be your ideal place to live? City/suburb/middle of nowhere? By the beach/in the mountains?
The middle of nowhere....but within 20 minutes of a town haha
  • Hi guys!

How are you feeling? My nausea seems to be getting better overall. I've been able to eat more over the past few days which is good.

R/R/Other:  Just dealing with my terrible eczema, and missing my steroid cream. My hands look terrible :( Other than that, looking forward to my next appointment next Monday. If everything is good, I guess I'll start to tell my friends.

  • @SandwichLover - If it makes you feel any better, I also have terrible blustery cracked skin eczema on my right hand. It totally cleared up during my last pregnancy and stayed that way until 6 months pp.

@Sugargirl1019 I hope everything went great today!!

    How are you feeling?
Meh. Super tired and headache. A little crampy.

    R/R/Other:
Had my confirmation appt today! My midwife dropped the word high risk (i developed preeclampsia last pregnancy) so that threw me for a loop. I have to figure out what this means. I know I have a consumer wut a high risk doctor at the hospital where I deliver and will get extra labs. I'm just hoping they don't insist on inducing before my due date of everything is honky dorrie (Which their literature makes it seem like induction at 39 weeks us nonnegotiable. I was induced last time. It went well but it was terrifying. I do not want to go through that again.) I had no idea I would get that label, but I guess I should've anticipated!!

    Questions: None

  • I just realized that I got busy on Monday and didn't get back to replies.

@Schumerator I've done a lot of thinking about the relationship changes, too. I think the biggest thing is that you're aware of if so you can plan for it and talk about it now. I think that it's hardest for people when they either totally didn't expect anything to change and then they're blindsided by it or when they thought that having a baby was going to be a brilliant way to fix a broken relationship. I do think that it's important to plan times to go on dates and reconnect. I'm just looking at babysitting costs as an investment in our relationship and plan to have at least one date a month where it can just be the two of us and we can check in on how things are going with the systems we have in place.

@SienaC I swear I'm not an alcoholic, either but I'm having a hard time being mature about not being able to drink. I was showing H pictures of my work trip to Maine and there are a number in there that are of beers that I want to be assured I'll get to have later. I would also have very much liked to not be so painfully sober at last weekend's wedding.

@FrancesGrace630 I hope you're feeling better soon. Glad your husband is all over catering to you!

@SandwichLover I hope your doctor has some suggestions on how to deal with your eczema. I only have it on occasion but it's no fun at all.

@longliveregina Glad that you had a mostly good appointment. FWIW, I think that most inductions aren't nearly as terrifying as yours was last time. My sister had one with hers (GD) and while she didn't exactly enjoy it (I think she was a little slow to progress and ended up getting an epidural even though she had wanted to go without medication).

  • @Kiki75 thank you! That makes me feel a lot better :) I've been thinking about trying to have a lot of conversations in the third trimester with MH just so that we stay on the same page. Like I'm sorry in advance if we are both sleepless zombies and are sort of hating each other for the first few months, but let's try to support each other as best we can lol!
  • @Kiki75 Thanks. My induction actuary went really well...I went into labor from the Cervadil alone. But getting a call at work to go to the hospital immediately was pretty frightening. The fixture wad insistent that I didn't go home and get my stuff, and baby was safer out. I hate the idea of interventionist I can avoid them....it makes me feel so out of control. Of course whatever I gotta do for a healthy #2 I will!

  • @kiki75 I am also missing good beer.. I kind of think not drinking will get easier when we're showing, lol, so it will be clear why I'm not drinking. We'll see.. I have a wedding for H's cousin in Nantucket in October and we'll be going to Cisco brewery so I know that will be tough since I've wanted to go therefor awhile!!
