TW :( I don't know what to think *UPDATE

edited July 2016 in March 2017 Moms
so I'm on day 10 of spotting. It's nothing heavy but my GP wants me to get blood tests every three days... What are those called again? Are those the hcg tests or beta? I don't know the terms. Good news is that I'll be getting an earlier ultrasound.

Doctor said I had a 50/50 chance of keeping the baby though. I'm still nauseas, so I'm hopeful.

anyone else here have spotting but a healthy pregnancy? I've never had spotting or miscarriage so I have no clue what to think. Cross your fingers or pray for me if you can please <3

UPDATE: you guys are STUCK WITH ME, muahaha! My betas, or whatever it's called, are rising! Now just waiting to make sure that my ultrasound is cool and I'm here for good ;)

  • I have had spotting with every pregnancy. I hope they get an idea of what's going on so you can feel supported!

Ugh! That's a scary number, doc! I'm so sorry to hear this!  Prayers that the bleeding actually has nothing to do with the baby and you can get quick answers.  When is your ultrasound?
  • Fingers crossed and prayers sent your way, @ihateusernames*
  • It's not until August 11!
I wish I had acted more dramatic or lied and said I was in pain... Maybe then I would be getting in sooner

  • Thats crazy, I had one day of spotting my last pregnancy, got evaluated and I had an ultrasound the very next day- *TW* it was not a good outcome unfortunately but if you are really concerned you need to advocate for yourself! I would push for an ultrasound sooner, thats like 2 1/2 weeks from now! Just for your peace of mind.
  • I'm sorry to hear you are still spotting. I know that has to be scary and frustrating! FX for you and sending some T&Ps your way. Please keep us updated!

  • @ihateusernames* I went to the ER but only because when I went to the OB office- the nearest ultrasound was at the hospital so they told me to just go and get admitted. I guess if they already did lab work or whatever, maybe see if they will order you an ultrasound without going to the ER.
  • Hope it turns out to be nothing.

I have two healthy babies that I bled not spotted but bled from 10dpo through the ENTIRE pregnancy. Very possible to carry to term and spot and it just one of those freak things.
I'm currently back in the same boat, spotting and concerned but aware it could very well be fine, some women just spot/bleed in pregnancy.

  • Have you done your first blood test yet? That might give you some peace of mind.
They call them betas and they test for HCG so whichever term you want to use is fine.
    Thinking of you!

  • I had heavy bleeding twice during my last pregnancy, once early on and then later on. I now have an extremely healthy 6 month old baby boy! I am thinking of you!
  • I did my blood test right after seeing the doctor this morning. Do you think they would know the results yet? @howdthathappen
  • No experience here but sending lots of positive vibes your way! FX hard for a positive outcome for you and your little!
  • Just a story to help you feel better! My mom had significant breakthrough bleeding for four months...she didn't even know she was pregnant because she thought it was a period. Bodies are weird! It's so hard, try to stay positive.  :'(

I agree that you really need to advocate for yourself. An ER bill could be big, so maybe try calling the doctor again?

  • Sending good thoughts you're way. I have had spotting off and on since last Wednesday, mostly brown but a little red here and there. It's unnerving as hell and I have an earlier u/s on Friday to check on everything. Good luck and I hope you get some peace of mind soon!
  • My former boss bled every month, through her entire first pregnancy, and all was fine. Sending good vibes!

  • I had spotting throughout my whole pregnancy and some fairly heavy bleeding on a regular basis too. I'll be honest, I didn't really get comfortable with my situation until like 8 months.. but DS is 11 months now and perfectly healthy! Keeping my fingers crossed for you  <3
  • I live in Canada so ER visits are free! Just not ambulance ;)@longliveregina
  • Sending hopeful and calming thoughts!  I was just out in LA at a conference and a woman (early, like us) who is pregnant with twins had a scare like this but wound up being totally fine. She passed quite a bit of blood but it wound up being bold vessel related. Just wanted to share a story with a positive outcome.  Really hoping you get some good news at your appointment.
  • Thanks ladies! You guys rock <3<3
  • Oh no! Fingers and toes crossed here and sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way.

  • One of my best friends had subchorionic hemorrhages throughout both her pregnancies. It's basically a blood clot near the placenta that can never completely clot because the uterus is constantly growing and stretching. It was just monitored throughout. Fingers crossed for you that it's something similarly benign.

  • I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, I know it must be really stressful. I haven't had personal experience with this, but I've definitely had a couple friends who had spotting but had a healthy pregnancy and delivered a full-term baby. Hoping it's nothing serious and that you get good news and reassurance at your ultrasound!
  • I spotted for a couple weeks with my son. My OB wouldn't see me or do anything. It resolved and now I have an almost 5 year old. As a precaution this time my nether regions are closed for business for a few weeks.
  • Standing with you here mama. I've been spotting off and on. Have an appointment tomorrow to check.

Sorry, I missed this ihateusernames*. Sometimes I get my results back within in hour and sometimes it takes until the next morning (I usually draw in the last afternoon/evening). Just depends on how busy the lab is.
I assume you got them back now??
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @ihateusernames* how fast you get your results also depends on whether they send the bloodwork out or if they analyze it in the office.  My doctor's office sends it out so I have to wait until the next day.  Keep us posted!

  • Yay!! @ihateusernames*
i went in today for sono and baby looked healthy for 7 weeks but they found a sub chorionic hematoma. Might absorb, might continue to bleed itself out, have to be monitored but it shouldn't cause big problems.

I had had this with my son as well and passed a 6in blood clot at 11weeks.

  • Amazing!
  • Sending good vibes @ihateusernames*

TERRIFYING! Yikes, hoping you will not have to go through that again this time!!
