XP & AW: Big Ol' Babies!!

Today was the 24 week ultrasound with a new set of measurements.

Heartbeats were good (his in the 150s, hers in the 140s). Belly measurements were good. His head is, well, huge. For 24wks,2days, his head is measuring 26+ weeks. He's got some long legs on him too (measuring a week or so ahead), but HER legs are like Rockette dancer long. Her legs are measuring a full 2 weeks ahead.

The only "off" thing on the u/s was one of his kidneys is a little enlarged. The doc is going to keep an eye on it, but he's not really worried because its a pretty common problem and it usually resolves itself.

The tech estimated that both kiddos are weighing in at 1 lb., 10 oz. The average weights for a baby at 24 weeks are between 1 and 1.25 lbs. So, BOTH of my kids are kind of huge!!!

My doc is thrilled with the babies measurements. He's happy with my cervical measurements and my blood pressure. He's even happy with my weight gain (24 pounds by their scale - 100% on track). Everything is good. Yippee!!!

Also, despite comments that I'm not showing "enough" for twins, my belly is measuring at 32 weeks. So, ha!!!

Re: XP & AW: Big Ol' Babies!!

  • Congrats on a good appointment! I have been told by other people my entire pregnancy that I don't look like I am showing enough for twins too....I hate that!
  • Wow...look at your beautiful miracles! You must be so thrilled!

  • That's excellent. I was so excited to hear that ours were weighing in above average too. Good job growing big babies!
  • Sounds great... right about where I am too.  I had an appointment today and my belly measured 33 weeks, but all day I get "you're so tiny even if you were just having 1 baby."  I respond with well I've gained 25lbs. already and the babies are in the 90th percentiles so I think I'm ok.
