Financial help with baby and bills

 I don't qualify for Wic, medicaid, foodstamps, etc... My insurance is ok but will leave me a big deductible, copay bill after delivery. Child care will also be more than a struggle. My boyfriend just lost his job... Anyone know of any non income based programs that help with bills, food, childcare? I live in indiana if that helps

Are there local churches you could visit? Food banks? Most states have supplemental insurance that will back your existing policy to help cover costs completely.

Go sign up for WIC like a week before you are due, tell them you are on maternity leave and have no income, you will get WIC short term and they will sign you up for medical that will cover co-pay and back pay some of your bills as well, that's what I did with my last pregnancy as I got charged a 1500 co-pay for me and another 1500 after baby born (new person) for my 1st!

Also check with the hospital when the bills start rolling in after delivery and have them put you on a payment plan for what you owe. They typically ask what you can afford to pay per month. I gave birth in OH so not sure if it's the same. Can't hurt to ask and its 0% interest!

Did you apply for Medicaid or just don't think you'd qualify? I'd apply and just see! It never hurts and you might be surprised. Especially if you're the only one making money in the home right now.

In most states you qualify for Medicaid while pregnant as supplemental insurance but once back to work you get terminated from it. Worth looking into.  And as someone said you definitely qualify for WIC on maternity leave.

BF should be able to collect unemployment if he was laid off and not fired.

My hospital with last baby cut my bills in half! After you have baby you're considered a family of two so the amount you make may be under their cut off after all. So check on their policies for assistance! I thought we wouldn't get anything, but once we were a family of three qualified for assistance. can't hurt to check!! This time I already checked at this practice we're going t through and we get 10% assistance (on all bills after insurance) as a family of four with our family income.

Thank you... Everyone's responses were so helpful. I just used the eligibility tool online, but they qualify my inherited ira n iras as "income" -said online, but I will make an appointment, appeal, and ask... With this, the  squeaky wheel gets the money grease

I have no experience or advice really, but I hope BF is back to work soon and you can have this weight lifted from your shoulders!
