Night Sleeping

DS just turned 1 & is walking, but since he's turned 1, his sleep patterns are worse than when he was a NB....I've tried everything, letting him cry it out, putting him to bed at different times (more when he was 6-9mos) & now we have an established bedtime routine, which he LOVES & cooperates well.  He goes to sleep fine, the problem is once he's up in the middle of the night (between 11:30 & 1AM) he wants to play!  He's wide awake & I try to put him down, rocking, singing, etc, but I eventually bring him to bed & then he wakes up every 1-2 hours still to continue to nurse (Nursing is my only saving grace at that time of the night)!

Thanks for the advice!

Re: Night Sleeping

  • I know it's a saving grace for you...but if he knows that he's going to get the bubbies when he wakes up at night, he'll continue to do it.  Our daughter did the same thing until I stopped night nursing and her schedule eventually straightened out.  DD is 15 months old and we do CYO...she cries for maybe 3-5 minutes and then she's out.

     Good luck!!

  • You and me both.  Nursing is the only thing thing that allows me to get ANY sleep at night.  My pedi said it's because DS is hitting SOOOO many milestones that he wakes up and wants to immediately try new things.  My DS has this same pattern.  I am at the point that I take him to bed with me immediately at night so I don't have to deal with not getting sleep.  I work full time plus hours and I am in grad school.  I just can't handle no sleep!!
