I always think of the children's book, Madeline, it doesn't rhyme if pronounced -LYN. "They left the house at half past nine/in two straight lines/in rain or shine/the smallest one was Madeline".
-line. And I don't find -lyn to be an attractive pronunciation at all. But if that's your goal, still prefer it spelled Madeline to Madelyn, which is ugly and trendy.
Lyn. I've known two people named Madeline (spelled this way) and they've both pronounced it "lyn". FWIW I've know the spelling "Caroline" to be pronounced both ways as well.
