New to the Boards

Hello everyone! My name is Melanie. I am 28 years old. I have been a member of The Bump for about three years now, but took a very long break. Today is my first day back and I wanted to introduce myself and start getting to know all of you. Here is my story: My husband Adam and I got married in June of 2012. We decided to start TTC on our one year anniversary. ( This is when I joined the Bump). I knew something was wrong when we approached a year of TTC and we had no success. This is around the time when I stopped coming to the boards because I was very frustrated with everything. Something I am sure many of you can relate to. At the year and a half mark, we went to my Dr. and began undergoing tests. I had blood work and HSG, both normal. My husband had an analysis done and they found that his morphology was not where it should be. We were referred to a Urologist who was trying to be helpful, but really just ended up breaking our spirits a bit. He told us that he did not think my husband's test results were the root of our problem and we were both young so we should try not to worry about it. After that, with no real reason as to why we could not get pregnant, we took a break from actively "trying", just deciding that if it happened, great... if not, we would re-approach the process when we were both mentally ready. Well, it has now been about a year and a half from our trip to the Urologist and we are ready to start again. We have a consultation appointment next week with a Fertility Specialist. I am very excited to be continuing on our journey, but at the same time, I am extremely nervous because I have no idea what to expect. I look forward to talking to all of you on these boards and sharing in your experiences.

Welcome to the board and FX you aren't here very long. It's amazing how much we want something definitive to be "wrong" when it comes to IF. And for such a large percentage of us, there isn't a clear answer to why things are working out the way they are. I hope some easy, basic intervention is all you need! Good luck at your upcoming appt!

Welcome! Sorry you find yourself here. I can relate to you, as I'm 28 too. Never thought we would have a problem when we started trying so "early" compared to a lot of my friends. I think its great you are seeing a specialist! We only tried for 8 months (tracking everything with timed interxourse) and then saw an RE. All our treatment detail are in my signature, but I do feel lucky I had an OB that took our lack of success seriously and found an RE that was willing to try each thing once, getting more aggressive each month. Make sure you find an RE you like and are comfortable with. These forums are also great for learning and support. Best of luck!

Welcome!  I hope you don't have to be here very long. I agree with finding an RE you like and are comfortable with. You may want to "interview" them. It can make things much easier to feel like they care and see you as a person rather than a number or just another pocketbook.  Good luck!
