@CaptainPhasma I'm so sorry about your grandma. I've lost 2 grandparents since February and my Mom just called to say my Pop Pop just had a major stroke and is being trasferred to hospice. We just decided to name our baby boy after my Pop Pop knowing he wouldn't make it until October but I was planning on visiting him this weekend to tell him his great-grandson will have his name. I'm so sad to think that none of my grandparents will meet this baby. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and I'm sending all the positive vibes that she pulls through! I know how hard it is and being pregnant makes it even harder! Hang in there.

@CaptainPhasma I'm so sorry to hear! Your poor grandma! She sounds like a strong, spirited woman who won't give up without a fight! Sending good thoughts and vibes your way!!
Just a thought - could you take a day unpaid tomorrow to be with her? It sucks losing out on the money, but at least you wouldn't have to use your maternity time!
And @MRSCORKERI'm so sorry your grandfather has gotten worse! I hope you still get to tell him you're naming the baby after him!
I can empathize with you ladies - I'm very close with my grandmother (my mom's mom) and she's getting progressively worse these days. Just sort of giving up the will to live. It's like she's here, but she's not my grandma anymore, not the one I could talk to like a best friend... I SO want her to meet her first great-grandbaby, but we're starting to prepare ourselves should that not end up happening. Good luck to you and your families!
I posted an article to my FB page that outlines why the published paper out of Australia about CIO being ok is so bad (regardless of their conclusions, the experimental design is horrific) and this gal I know who is FIERCELY pro-CIO comments back that she's always reading things about my chosen parenting methodology being bad for babies, etc (we're literally 1000% different in our parenting beliefs). She missed my entire point and she was a cunt-faced bag whore about it. I seriously want to lay into her but DH says I'm being irrational. Grrr. Now I have pent-up pregnancy rage and I have no outlet.
@CaptainPhasma - sorry to hear about grandma, and I'm with you in that it sucks you have to make the decision about whether to see your grandma or be with baby. If you take PTO tomorrow it will come out of paid time of course, but do you still get 12 weeks' protected leave after baby comes? I'd rather just take it unpaid there if you can so you can be with gma. T&Ps.
I lost my grandmother early this year so I understand how tough it is to hear they aren't doing well - and I can't imagine with pregnancy hormones on top of it.
@CaptainPhasma Definitely take some kind of day off to be with your family.
I'm so sad my grandmother will never meet my baby. But I know she knows who he is and is just jumping for joy up there about him and that were nicknaming him after my grandfather who was the love of her life for almost 70 years. He's still kicking, so I pray he's around for the baby as he is my last living grandparent.

@MRSCORKER I also have a mandatory glucose test. I honestly have no idea what it entails, only that I have to do it within a very exact time frame!
@TurtleMomma I TOTALLY get it. Although for me, it's primarily my pro-CIO parents. Unfortunately feelings often trump scientific evidence for most people... But luckily most people our age seem to have veered away from that (completely disproven!) method.
I'm having the worst time finding shorts. I'm plus sized and really not a shorts person but i'm sweating within 2 minutes of being out with the toddler in skirts/jeans.
@coffee89 - I ordered a khaki pair from old navy and I love them. They're the perfect length... I think maybe 5" inseam. The ones at motherhood fit well, but were too short for my taste. I'm on the chubby side, as well.
In the spirit of trying to be part of the community and leave the safety of lurker status, my random is MY FREAKING HUSBAND IS SNORING SO LOUD AND IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS! I just worked a 12hr shift and want to go to sleep. (In his defense, he picked up an overtime shift on the overnight last night and then had training all day and is very tired).
Blake Lively and can just f*** right off with her perfect pregnant body in a strapless, skin tight dress with a slit up to the arm pit. I'm over here with bacne, spider veins, and cellulite while she looks like she just strapped on a cute little bump and hit the red carpet. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!

My grandma has been my only living grandparent practically all my life and she's okay for a 83-year-old woman who had been doing manual labor all her life, but in recent years she's been gradually worsening and she's taking it hard, she may really want to go now (she's always saying it, but nowadays I'm starting to believe her). I feel like a l'm selfish, but I would like my child to know her... And since all other family member died when I was really small, I don't think I can bear her death anytime soon...
@CopperBoom86 Can confirm, that's what my husband does to ME when I snore!
@mrscorker Ugh, the return of perfectly pregnant Blake Lively. I remember during her last pregnancy, she said her only cravings were organic pumpkin ice cream and small batch craft pickles. Why can't she crave pizza and bagels slathered with cream cheese like the rest of us?!
Also, thinking of you and @CaptainPhasma during this tough time ❤️
Oh my god you guys I have bed bug bites on my legs, and one dangerously close to my crotch, and these demons came out of nowhere ;( FI doesn't have any bites but I got eaten up two nights in a row now, so they are most likely hiding out on MY side of the bed... where do they even come from??? I'm freaking out, the only assurance I have is there aren't many because I don't have bites in 'clusters'...
@AllyTheKid ugh!! My parents had them a couple years ago, so gross! Make sure you wash all of your bedding, clothes, curtains, and any fabric in hot water to sterilize. They like to hide out in the corners of your bed and other furniture. I know there are some treatments you can do yourself although I'm not sure how well they work. They also have a heat treatment and a chemical spray that you can get done. Bed bugs SUCK
Oh also! We learned that bed bugs have a preference, so sometimes they will only target one/certain members of the house because they taste better
@LGW2015 I am a billion times more heebie jeebied thinking I am a bedbug delicacy ;( On the up and up, we have already established our game plan and will be washing/steaming/spraying every bedroom and every item all weekend, I am NOT taking ANY chances on letting these bastards spread! My aunt and uncle had to battle them last year and gave us all sorts of tips. I can't afford to throw away my mattresses and get new ones so I am scouting out the full covers for them and the box springs, WHY oh WHY does this kind of crap happen while I'm pregnant and trying to nest?!
@MrsCorker and @suzy311- Have you seen that model woman who is Adam Levine's wife? Rocking a bikini, smooth golden skin and a teeny bump. Meanwhile I'm seriously on the verge of buying men's gym shorts since none of my comfy clothes seem to fit right anymore...
Not to mention all she's craving is watermelon. I'm craving watermelon too - on top of a pizza that's accompanied by a hot fudge sundae.

*sigh*
I think it's a combination of winning the genetic lottery and being completely full of shit. In the interview she says she's just craving watermelon and then she goes home and stuffs 3 hot dogs in her face. At least, that's what I'm telling myself so I feel better about these ham hocks that used to be legs.

I haven't really had any cravings yet, but that's because I'm still nauseous af and puking my guts out a couple times a week. I think I'm going to be the first person to gain nothing during pregnancy but 40 pounds immediately after. As soon as the baby's born and the desire/ability to eat all the foods comes back, I'm stuffing myself and washing it down with sangria lol
@scostel2 ... yes... sangria! I had some with dinner the other night though. I checked with the restaurant and they only put 1.5 oz of wine in with juice. I felt okay about that so I had one lol.
Does anyone else ever worry that they won't ever be able to eat the stuff that makes them want to hurl during pregnancy again? I do... like, I can't fathom eating a steak right now and I'm a little worried that filet mignon will just not be part of my diet anymore.... because I used to really love steak.
@AllyTheKid - Not to freak you out even more, but do try to see if you can locate a bed bug to confirm and even go to the doctor if it does not heal quickly. My friend thought she had a case of bed bugs after we stayed at a hotel one weekend, but when she went to the doctor (hers were on her upper inner thigh area), it was confirmed that it was a case of MRSA, and not from the hotel. She still has flair ups from it, and then started back in August. Either way, washing all the bedding, clothes, etc. is a smart thing to do, and hopefully you can figure out the cause of your bites.
@Piperella Funny you mention that, because I used to get staph boils on my upper inner thighs as a child, but these definitely aren't those =/ I almost wish they were, they'd be easier to deal with and slightly less gross! But these are without a doubt bites. Overnight, from my ankles to my thighs, 16 total. The bug hunt is ON!
On the topic of cravings, I haven't had any, at all. I mean, there's been things I've wanted, but nothing I had to have. I haven't been nauseated even once throughout this pregnancy, so I know that has nothing to do with it.
For now, I'm convinced cravings are just things pregnant women wanted and deemed a "craving" to make sure they got it. (Genius)
DH and I have been having the circumcision coversation since we found out it's a boy. Last night, I had a dream that I had an affair with Fitz from Scandal and he wasn't circumcized and I didn't know what to do with it... A little too much penis/foreskin on the brain I guess.

Guys. DH just got back from the farm. Our supposed plentiful crop harvest got partially destoyed by an overnight frost and now our "return" is going to be only like 1/4 of what we expected. Which is only like half of the actual cost to farm this past season. We were planning on using the harvest money for windows and doors in our house and now it will only cover like 2 windows.....

They're walking shorts, so they're on the longer side (10 inch inseam), so I worried that they'd be too matronly, but I actually like them quite a bit.
