Vehicles??

I have a question for anyone who has multiple children or has a daycare. I run an in home daycare. I live to close to the school for the bus to come. So I currently transport to and from school. I only have a Chevy Equinox so I can only fit 3 car seats in my car. I need to buy a new vehicle for the fall. I need a vehicle that can fit at least 5 if not 6 comb of booster, forward facing and rear facing car seats. I also need to be able to get the kids easily in and out as I have to walk the kids into the school. Thanks in advice. Any ideas? Recommendations.

  • any recommendations on which one? I haven't found one that can fit the car seats i need in them. Kids need to be able to buckle themselves in the back row and so far all the ones i found the car seats are just to close for the kids to do it that i would have to climb back there. which i'm not against.
  • In all honesty, I think they are all about the same (just some have different features depending on brand/model). But that is a lot of carseats, so it is going to be a tight squeeze no matter what you put them in. The van will be easier to get kids in and out of, and more space for you to climb back there....than an SUV. But unless you are planning on getting a 10 or 12 passenger van, either you are going to have to switch to more narrow carseats (like Diono, which are expensive), or climb back there each time to help them buckle/unbuckle.

  • I just got the Toyota Highlander and love it! It has a third row and it's really easy to configure the seats.
  • My friend fits 3 car seats in the same row of her Chevy Tahoe. It has 3 rows.

I recommend a suburban if planning on using 3rd row. There is no cargo room with 3rd row in! At least with my Tahoe.
  • My nana drives a conversion van and that fits a whole wheelchair, if you're looking for something to transport a lot of kids.

My parents used a Chevy Astro van to transport all us kids (5 total) You can probably find a used one for a decent price.
  • One of my friends is a mom of  4 with 1 on the way, all are still in various stages of 5-point convertibles, boosters and of course the newborn seat will go in soon.  She just made the switch from a Suburban to a mini van.  I'll stalk her facebook and see if I can find out which one and update.

  • Found it!  She went with the Honda Odyssey since it has the capability for 6 with the LATCH system which she needed.  The Suburban only had capability of 2 LATCH installments apparently.  She also felt like the 3rd row of the suburban really didn't seat any carseat comfortably.

  • I have a Toyota Sienna and I can fit 5 car seats/boosters in it - if that helps. It has two pilot seats and then a bench so you can get in and buckle kids up all the way in the back easily.
  • We currently have an odyssey and love it. We fit three car seats and a booster great with room for our older two. Now we need a new ginormous vehicle of some sort and are looking at the nissan nv. I'm a little sad, I really love our Odyssey.
