Thursday Ticker Change

How many weeks are you? Size comparison?

31 weeks today -- baby is big as asparagus?

Doing anything baby-related this week?

Probably finishing putting together the nightstand for the nursery. Also, I want to get started on DS1's baby books so I can hopefully get them done before DS2 is born. Can't wait to get my registry completion coupon in a couple of days so I can buy the glider - then the nursery is complete besides some décor.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms?

Sick of having to pee all the time. I've also grown out of all my maternity pants so it's all dresses, all the time for me now. This happened to me last pregnancy...lame.

GTKY: If you're working how long is your maternity leave? Is it paid? Are you planning on going back to work afterwards?

I get the 12 weeks of FMLA this time. Unpaid of course. Last time I wasn't eligible for FMLA so I only had 6 weeks of unpaid leave (not job-protected). Since having only 6 weeks off was kind of a shit-show last time, I'm looking forward to having more time to adjust. I feel like 16-20 weeks of leave would have been most ideal though. I'm planning on going back to work but since my job sucks I may start looking for another job once DS2 gets to be at least 1 year old.

31 weeks. Romaine lettuce or a small-clawed otter!

    Doing anything baby-related this week?

My work is throwing a shower for me in a half hour. I'm trying to brace myself for the discomfort that is being the center of attention! Not complaining, though. I'm very lucky to have such kind coworkers.

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms?

I feel like I had a very noticeable shift in maneuverability this week. Changing sleep positions is dreadful; getting dressed takes me a good 25 minutes (most of that being wrestling with compression socks); I have to take a few seconds before trying to walk after I stand up or it's a newborn deer situation. I think this is how I was expecting to feel at the END--not with two months left!

GTKY: If you're working how long is your maternity leave? Is it paid? Are you planning on going back to work afterwards?

I can take the 12 weeks of FMLA (6 weeks partially paid) but I don't know how long we can go without my paycheck. I needed to use a lot of my PTO when my dad was in the hospital so I don't have much left for baby. Daycare is so expensive, though. I still don't know if it makes financial sense for me to go back to work. Much too much thinking is required from this brain-dead mama.

30 weeks ... size of a zucchini apparently.

    Doing anything baby-related this week?

The crib, dresser and mattress all came in for the nursery, so saturday we are getting all that good stuff set up. And by me, I mainly mean DH ;)

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms?

Shortness of breath is killing me.  I feel heavy all the time and the exhaustion is back.  I miss eating at night too.  I was not eating past four, but then when I got up in the mornings I was very ill from lack of food.  So I've pushed it back to 6 as long as I keep it light -- cereal, sandwiches, food without flavor.  And my hips are killing me.

GTKY: If you're working how long is your maternity leave? Is it paid? Are you planning on going back to work afterwards?

We can take up to 12 weeks. The company will pay you for a portion, and it's dependent upon how long you've been there.  Since I have been at my job nearly 7 years, I can get 6 weeks paid for a vaginal delivery, 7 weeks for a C-section.  Anytime after is either unpaid or accrued time.  I'll be using sick/vacation so that I can get 8 weeks paid.  Unfortunately I will be coming back.  I wish we could swing otherwise, but oh well.  At least I enjoy my job.

    30 weeks today -- zucchini!

    Doing anything baby-related this week?

Doing lots of hypnobabies practice.  Also I'm almost certain that my surprise shower is this Saturday - In my house.  My husband is taking the day off of work on Friday just to clean the house (?!) and my brother-in-law's fiance decided we should take a girls' day starting at 8am in the morning on Saturday- She booked massages for us and won't tell me where. So I'll be out of the house all Saturday morning. But hey - I'm not complaining!!!

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms?

Starting to come close to growing out of my maternity pants too - who knew. Hopefully I'll get another week or two out of them... Other than that - just enjoying baby movements!

GTKY: If you're working how long is your maternity leave? Is it paid? Are you planning on going back to work afterwards?

I'm extremely grateful my job offers 12 weeks of paid leave.  I work at a large corporation - so that helps.  I'm definitely planning on going back to work afterwards. I love what I do and can't imagine not doing it and my husband and I make about the same.

    33, size of a ferret!

    Doing anything baby-related this week?

I have my OOT shower Saturday. Lurking on my registry makes me really fucking excited (no shame).

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms?

Not looking forward to getting ready and driving down to the Shower though. I have to pack for both me and DH, make sure the house is clean "enough", and then meet him at his office (hes flying in from a work assignment and meeting me there). Then we're taking one of those white, creepy, stalkerish vans 4 hours to the shower. Lately in the car I get these horrible pains in the middle of my chest just under my bra strap, and they really, REALLY suck. The thought of having that for 4 hours is going to kill me, and on top of it, I know DH is going to be complaining the whole ride down since he will be flying all day then have to drive 4 more hours..

GTKY: If you're working how long is your maternity leave? Is it paid? Are you planning on going back to work afterwards?

18 weeks for vaginal, 20 if I have to get a c/s. It's 100% paid, even including an average of my commission (which is 60% of my pay). I'll come back at a "part time with benefits" which is 4 days a week. My company is AHHHHmazing.

@dolewhipper Ummmm your company does sound amazing! where do you work again??  ;)

31 weeks - size of a foam finger!

(Can I just say that the hand print part the Ovia app makes me tear up a little every week? I love baby fingers!)

    Doing anything baby-related this week?

I officially started testing my blood sugar 4x a day.  It's annoying but worth it.  I'm hoping to finally have the energy to clean out the nursery this weekend.

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms?

The exhaustion has come back full force.  One DD is in bed, any energy I thought I had, is completely gone. My house is a disaster.

GTKY: If you're working how long is your maternity leave? Is it paid? Are you planning on going back to work afterwards?

I'm in a weird spot when it comes to my job.  The short story is that even though I qualify for FMLA, none of it is paid.  I will use my vacation, sick time, and personal days as my "paid" leave.  I am hoping  to interview for a new job which would start at the end of my maternity leave (about 6 weeks).  My current job is in limbo and I wills most likely need to be looking for a new job anyway because the state is changing the program.

Sorry it took me so long to respond (mobile doesn't tell me when I have a notification), one of the companies under the Expedia Inc umbrella :) They're a great company to work for!
