I'm here late for 2 reasons: First my work bitch. I was told on Thursday evening that I needed to prepare a demo of an app I use for Monday - so I had to beg the developers to get the demo environment ready, write a demo script and practice it (it's for a big account). Well the meeting starts yesterday (I'm presenting remotely from our headquarters while a few coworkers are in the other state live). We are told we have 1 hour to present. By the time it gets to my demo, I'm told "You have 4 minutes". 4 minutes?! To demo an application? I had prepared a 10-15 minute demo as instructed. I talked so fast I don't think I even took a breath during and I was stumbling over words and thoughts because I was trying to rush. It was terrible
I have a bitchfest for today. And perhaps this is also an UO. I just read a blog post from a mom talking about why she and her daughters wear board shorts to the pool, citing that "God's love wants us to have clothes on." And that "our bodies are a special treasure from God and we are to preserve them for marriage by dressing modestly."
I just CANNOT with this. Can't. I disagree so vehemently with this I could spit. Maybe if we as a society stopped sexualizing women and girls' bodies, this wouldn't be a problem. Nobody bitches at boys to put a top on at the pool, because boys aren't objectified in the same way and aren't expected to be "modest" or "ladylike" like women are.
And I feel this way about little kids, too. If someone has a problem with a child in a swimsuit—bikinis included—that is THEIR problem. Not the kid's problem. Stop viewing women as objects, and realize that we're just f****** hot in the summertime. SCREW YOUR MODESTY.
/end rant
At first I was reading and I was like 'Board shorts at the pool sounds great!" because I tend to like any swimwear that cuts down the amount of sunscreen I have to wrestle on to my toddler. Then I kept reading and I was like "Oh....oh, no."
LOL. Right? I buy my daughter one pieces because I am lazy, and it minimizes the amount of sunscreen I have to rub all over her wiggly ass.

I mean, ultimately, I'm team put your kid in whatever you want and whatever you think is most comfortable, practical, etc for them, but saying that little girls have to be in board shorts and rash guard tops so that men and boys dont oogle them or whatever seems to miss the mark.
This. If you don't want your child wearing a bikini for personal reasons, fine. But if that reason is to prevent her from being ogled, then you're perpetuating the cycle. No woman, especially a child, should feel responsible for a man being "unable to control his urges" or should be ashamed of her body.
Exactly.

Rash guards for as long as I can convince my daughter to wear them!
