Re: What's on your mind about this pregnancy?

  • I'll answer my own question

Happy/excited/looking forward to? Excited to see how my youngest becomes a big brother. My current DS and DD are tight as thieves and I'm hoping that circle of love just grows. Excited to meet this new little person, God willing. Excited to feel like our family is complete and looking forward to see the interactions grow in our family.

Concerned? Zika in the US. Miscarriage, health of baby, all the natural 'pregnant mom concerns'. Moving my family in the midst of pregnancy.

    What's making you happy/excited?

I'm so happy just be growing our family. We've enjoyed DS1 SOOO much more than we ever thought possible and while most people say they dislike the newborn/infant stage we loved every minute. So I'm excited about having all of those moments again and reusing DS's baby stuff that I'm always so sad to pack away as he grows.

What are you looking forward to?

I'm looking forward to DS1 having a playmate. To watching DH fall in love again and be the amazing father he is. I'm looking forward to doing it all at home this time around and hopefully healing more quickly after birth! I'm looking forward to falling in love again, nursing and singing our beloved lullabyes to a new little family member.

    What are you concerned about?

I'm concerned about loss, of course. I'm concerned about having energy to be the mom I want to be with DS1 while pregnant with this baby. We're big on AP and are LOVING it and the results. I'm concerned with how to balance that with all of the intense needs of a newborn - and the amount of time and attention my current little guy is used to getting. It's going to break my heart the first (and probably every) time I see a twinge of jealousy or him feeling "less important".

  • Happy/Excited: About the whole process. It's my first pregnancy and it's a whole new adventure

Looking forward to: how my DH and I will grow together as a couple, our parents becoming grandparents for the first time and brothers being uncles, and seeing how the furbabies interact with our new one.

Concerned about: DH is looking for a job and we have 3 possibilities, but 2 require moving and me quitting my job, which might mean losing insurance and having to find a new OB after getting settled in our current location. The 3rd has been unresponsive to follow ups. Also, the possibility of MC or Zika; I'm scheduled for a cruise in Sept that I have to try to change to an earlier time given the ship's restrictions, and have been trying to see if the Bahamas is on the Zika list. Also the cost of having to make our condo baby acceptable (need new appliances and floor that we've put off, can't do that anymore).

Children are like casseroles; it takes a lot to mess them up.

What's making you happy/excited? I'm excited for everything! Can't wait for our first appointment on May 23 to see the heart beat and get an EDD.
What are you looking forward to? I'm looking forward to sharing the excitement with family and friends! We're going to wait until Father's Day. It will be both my parent's and my MIL first grandchild. What are you concerned about? I'm concerned about my health in the first few weeks of this pregnancy. I've had a UTI, yeast infection, strep throat, and now a peri-tonsillar abscess. Ugh! So I've had to take oral antibiotics, IM antibiotics, norco, and the doc talked me into taking a small dose of ibuprofen. I never take medications so this is making me so uncomfortable and worried about my little embryo. Can't wait to be healthy and not take any more medications for the rest of this pregnancy!

  • What's making you happy/excited?
This is my first pregnancy. So I am just excited about everything. I'm excited to share this experience with my DH. I'm excited to see him become the amazing father I know he will be.

What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to my first appointment when we can hear the heart beat. I'm also excited to see the changes in my body, especially the belly!

    What are you concerned about?
I'm concerned about the unkown. Since it's my first I just don't know what truly to expect. I'm anxious about what kind of parent I will be. I'm also anxious about juggling a career and being a mom. I love my career and want to keep succeeding but I am also taking being a new mom very seriously. Just not sure how smoothly the 2 will go hand in hand.
  • What's making me happy/excited? I have a wonderful, sunshiney 2 year old who I love to pieces, and the thought of giving him a sibling just makes my heart friggin' SHINE. I took a second home pregnancy test today for fun (lol) just because I wanted to see the plus sign appear again. It made me really happy. The thought of how miraculous it is that a little child is growing in my belly by the second, cells dividing constantly, blows my mind. I made my first doctor's appointment today and told my mom!

What am I looking forward to? Weirdly enough, the belly again. lol. It was a bit thrilling to morph slowly back into my 'before' body (well, not entirely, but you know, haha) after having my first little guy, but it's been long enough now that fun things like ultrasounds, feeling that first kick, telling more people about the pregnancy, picking up little outfits here and there.. I'm looking forward to just about everything.

What am I concerned about? I had a pregnancy before having my first son that ended unfortunately in miscarriage at 10 weeks. I had just told everyone at work that I was expecting the day before. It was heartbreaking. I know if it does happen again, that I'll be better informed and prepared maybe, but I'm really hoping everything goes smoothly until that 3 month mark.. then I'll be able to take a deep breath, lol. I'm also a little concerned with the fact that although my partner seemed tickled and happy about the pregnancy when I told him, he kinda freaked out about it later that evening once he'd thought it over. He hasn't mentioned it since. I do wish I could share my joy with him more.

    What's making you happy/excited?

I'm really excited about sharing this adventure with my OH and how everything is going to shed new light on how I see the world (and how that will change me).

What are you looking forward to?

*TW loss* With my last pregnancy, I was really into all the science of it. Pregnancy is just FASCINATING to me. Seeing how my Crossfit workouts get affected by a growing belly. I'm already a little nervous doing burpees :)

    What are you concerned about?

I had a beta + spotting scare this morning so I'm still anxious about the next few weeks going smoothly (although I'm feeling a bit more relieved now!). A little bit about Zika. A little bit about the possibility that I could be carrying twins again (though I will accept that possibility with wide open arms, but it's still scary!)

  • What's making you happy/excited? What are you looking forward to?

I am just so thrilled to be a mom! We have been trying for almost 5 years and it's been a long time coming. I am also so excited about seeing my DH as a daddy and my parents as grandparents! I just can't wait for it all!!!

    What are you concerned about?

This is the first BFP I've ever gotten so I don't know how my body works with a pregnancy. I'm just anxious to get through this first trimester. Also, DH is in the middle of running for city council so I'm a little nervous about that. The election and campaigning this summer, and how much time it's going to take up if he gets elected.

  • What's making you happy/excited? What are you looking forward to?

I am so excited to have my parents' and my in-laws' first grandchild. This will also be the first great-grandchild on my father's side. I can't wait to see DH turn into an amazing dad, and see my puppies bond with our baby! It just feels really great to be growing our "pack", and I am looking forward to all of the adventures that we're all going to have together!

    What are you concerned about?

Even though this is my first BFP, I'm concerned about MC, Zika spreading to the U.S., or some sort of unforeseen complication. I'm also feeling a bit stressed out about my job situation. I currently have a higher income than my hubby and am unhappy at my job, but feel like I am stuck in it because of baby coming (losing great insurance, not having any PTO saved up for maternity leave). Obviously the joy of having a little one makes the job woes pale in comparison, but they're still there. DH and I will have to work on it

  • I'm excited and nervous. While we went off birth control, we weren't exactly thinking it would happen this fast! We told my DH's brother and wife last night and they were beyond excited. I think when we are able to tell people we will be more excited.

Concerned? Baby having a mental disability. My DH's family has two cases on his mom's side - his aunt has Down's Syndrome and his youngest sister (they have four kids) has a chromosomal disorder that isn't classified. She is a 24-year-old with the mind of a 10 year old. While I was told that his mother had testing and this isn't a genetic thing, the thought still goes through my mind.  This worries both of us a lot and is the reason I think we are not that excited yet. Also, my family has twins, so that's also making me nervous. My dad is a twin and my cousin on my mom's side had twins a few years back. I'm definitely ready for this waiting game to be over and get to the doctor for an ultrasound already!

What's making you happy/excited? What are you looking forward to?
Happy and excited to begin a HUGE new chapter (and milestone) in my life. My mom told me that being pregnant was the happiest, most joyful time in her entire life!

    What are you concerned about?
MC of course, especially being "advanced maternal age" (at 40, I must be the oldest one in this group!) Being an older mom, poses more risks which I am learning about (complications, D syndrome, etc).

  • Thanks for sharing that image @asnowsurfer!

I was really worried last night because I'm on an international flight today and made the mistake of googling that and finding all sorts of people who claim it caused their first-trimester miscarriages... but everything official I read says that's false claims and that it's perfectly fine as long as you wear compression socks, drink tons of water, and get up and walk around plenty (all things I'm already going to do). Needless to say, I went to sleep a nervous wreck. Am waking up this morning excited though :) Baby's not even born and already it's going on its first trip abroad. Made me start thinking about all the great adventures we're about to embark on together as mom and child and as a whole family.

  • What's making you happy/excited?

Seeing DH reaction, response, involvement. He is my absolute other half and I'd be lost without him.

What are you looking forward to?

Growing as a couple with DH, as a family with this LO, seeing how our furbabies respond...can animals sense pregnancy?? :) Feeling LO grow, all the possibilities for the future

    What are you concerned about?

My age...I'm 38...MC, complications due to age, weight, all of the above. At the same time so much of this is out of my control. I will continue with my exercise routine until DR says to stop, make healthy food choices, and try to keep my stress, anxiety, and worries to a minimum and focus on each milestone.

  • What's making you happy/excited?

Being pregnant, it was our first BFP after over a year and a half of trying and a few infertility issues.

What are you looking forward to?

Just experiencing the ups and downs, having a living being growing inside me just seems like such a blessing. Even if they are only the size of a peppercorn right now!

    What are you concerned about?

I am so excited that we conceived but I am still very scared of loss... it is so early and I have had so many close friends experience loss, and it didn't matter if it was their first or third or their first few months or their last few. I am scared of health complications out of my control. I am already having terrible cramping (which I hope is just RLP) but the doctor has told me to take it easy already which is a bit unnerving.  It is also not always easy to just "take it easy" so I hope life allows me some time and space to slow down when I need to.

  • What's making you happy/excited? What are you looking forward to?

Im excited to be pregnant. Everyday is a wonderful exciting day. Im excited to tell family. Im  excited for my son to have a sibling that stays alive. Im looking forward to making it past 14-19 weeks.

    What are you concerned about?

Miscarriage again. Stillbirth. SIDS. All the scary stuff.

I just pray every chance I get and am hoping for the best.

  • I am excited to be pregnant and looking forward to all of the fun things that come with pregnancy like telling friends/family, finding out the sex, picking outfits, baby shower, etc. I am nervous about a loss because of previous mc, but I am trying to remain positive. I think I will feel much better after my first appt. which is not until the 16th! I look forward to sharing this special journey with all of you ladies.

  • Hey guys!
This is my second pregnancy...I sadly had a miscarriage back in January.  We are so excited and feel so blessed that we are pregnant again, but we can't shake the feeling something might go wrong and we are not sure if we can go through that again.
With my first pregnancy I did not get nauseous really at all, I wasn't getting morning sickness which scared me..then I had the MC.  Again I am at 6 weeks and I don't have any sickness, so it makes me nervous again.
Just want to get through my first appointment on the 23rd!!!
Looking forward to getting to know you ladies!
  • Hey! I had a miscarriage in January as well. I had a missed miscarriage, so no bleeding or warning, went for an ultrasound and baby no longer had a heartbeat. It was terrible! I also had no morning sickness at all! I was tired and had sore boobs though. Now I am 6 weeks and due on Jan 4 I think.  I have no morning sickness, maybe just a little nausea once or twice. I am terrified! And I do not have my first appt until 5/26. Praying this baby grows and has a strong heartbeat!

  • What's making you happy/excited? What are you looking forward to?

I am so happy and excited that this happened naturally, we did IVF to have our first daughter so this was definitely an extremely happy and exciting surprise.  I am so excited to give my daughter a sibling and this should complete our family.

What are you concerned about? Loss of course and finances after my year of maternity leave because I don't think we can afford me to go back to work with 2 in daycare.
