DD1 just turned 2. I know she's close to being ready, so I want to get this started! I'm just totally overwhelmed as to how to do it. Do I read books about it first? Buy a potty chair for my house and the grandmas houses? Do I talk to her about it first? I really have no idea where to start. And, I'm taking care of a newborn too, so that sorta puts a little crimp into things.
Any tips or suggestions???
Re: PTing-where to start??
The day DD turned 2 I started and it took three days. We went panties only, no pull ups, and honestly never left the house for those three days. I gave her as much juice as she would drink to make her need to go and let her have salty snacks to make her thirsty. She needed to have as much practice as possible with the "have to go" feeling and she also just had to have a few accidents. After her third accident she said, "eww mommy it's on the floor" and she started making an effort to get to the potty. Two days later we were completely day trained. Nights are a whole nother story... that's taking forever.
I really liked the Baby Bjorn potty because there are no creases for pee/poop to get stuck in. Also I never bought a seat to go on our toilet, I just taught her how to sit on it like a big girl once I thought she was ready. It's so worth it! Good luck!
