So I'm prepping for my 3rd FET in May. I have 15 frozen embryos 1 of which is a blast that wasn't transferred from a previous cycle. I have a choice to either thaw the first two and if they make it to day 5 transfer those two plus the 1 blast i already have. Or I can thaw all 14 embryos that are not at a blast stage and refreeze any embryos that make it to day 5. The thing is with the first option i lose less embryos because i would be transferring the first 2 that make the thaw and day 5. Or i can just thaw all remaining embryos and pray that what ever remaining embryos make it to day 5 will survive a refreeze. What would you do? I'm just so exhausted, I can't even think.

Hello @Dreambig1021. I can certainly understand being overwhelmed. I have not even gone through my first egg retrieval yet. If I were in your shoes, I would go with the simplest option. To me, it seems like thawing the two embryos and using the 1 blast would be the simplest option.

Personally I would thaw all the embryos. Yes they may not all make it to day 5, but with 14 a fair amount should. I would imagine you would be able to get a better idea of the embryo quality that way and the best chance for success.
I think I would rely on my doctors guidance on this one. I can see pros and cons of each option. I would make a list of them and then have a good discussion with your Doc and make the decision with them. I totally understand your mindstate of being exhausted, so I think using all your resources is the best way to make the decision. I find that after I know I have made the best decision for me I get a feeling if peace, I hope you are able to get that! But if it were me, prior to talking it thru w my doc, I would be leaning toward thawing all of them to see if we could get the best possible embryos. I have 14 frozen right now (Tmrw only 13!) - if I were in your shoes that is where I would be.

Transfer Meds include: Lupron Depot (4/1), Minivelle Patch (every 3rd day), Estradiol (3x daily), Amoxicillin, Progesterone in Oil, Methylprednisonlone. Lovenox and baby asprin added after transfer.
3/22/16 - Sono Saline ultrasound cyst to be aspirated on 4/1/16 if not cleared up by 3/29 US - It cleared on its own Retrieval 3/4/16 - 26 eggs retrieved, 23 mature, 20 fertilized, 14 embryos currently frozen Starting IVF Stims on +/- Feb 22, 2016 HSG scheduled for 1-26-16 - All clear "beautiful uterus" (though inverted)

So after much discussion yesterday during my mock transfer we decided to thaw out 6 embryos which is almost about half and see what happens any remaining after the two we transfer will get refrozen. I hope this is the right decision.
