Has anyone given birth at Northside lately? I keep hearing that you should empty out the cart every time they bring baby in and they will keep refilling it. Is this true? Can you take all these supplies home? Is it tacky or looked down upon?
Try the "Local Babies" boards. Not sure you'll get an answer here for your specific hospital. Although from what I'm reading from other moms and BMBs, most hospitals allow you to take home whatever they supply for you to use, but I would ask your nurse if thats the case.
I delivered at Northside Forsyth (I assume it will be the same) twice and yep, take everything. They'll replenish supplies if you run low/out. Really the only things you'll probably want to get extras of for home is diapers and wipes. Both my kids lived in the long sleeve undershirts the first few weeks since they don't rub the umbilical stump. Also don't forget to take your water cup, it's pretty great. There should actually be a small Northside duffle bag in the bathroom for you to take all this stuff home in.
I've delivered at Nothside twice and Northside Forsyth once. Forsyth is more generous when it comes to restocking the cart, but I think this is because it isn't nearly as busy. If you take out all the diapers they will put more in there but at Atlanta you may have to ask them because you might need diapers before they get around to restocking the cart. They give you a duffle bag to take you stuff home and the nurse will help make sure you've taken everything. They aren't going to reuse it. Don't forget your cup!
