GTKY: Do you consider yourself the spiritual/religious type? Or straight up empirical science-y type? Or both?

it depends so I think I'm a bit of both. I am not religious per se but I am spiritual. I believe in God and I enjoy going to mass but when it comes to things like when people are ill or even with ttc, I believe it is mostly science with a little help from the guy above so that's where I'm at.

*Question in RRCS*

Month/Cycle: 6/6

CD/DPO: 32

Timing: great from CD9-19 and then again CD23/24 just for fun, not thinking it was FW time, but now I'm starting to doubt

Testing: BFN Friday, still no AF today and another BFN. Out of tests, so if no AF by Wednesday I'll buy more.

R/R/CS: I'm so confused right now. I know you're regular 'til you're not, and I just wish you could predict based on past cycles. Questions:
1) Do you ladies get EWCM at different points in your cycle? I have had noticeable EWCM twice in my life...a couple of months ago and today (TMI: I thought it was AF, so I ran to the bathroom, but no, it was just a TON of EWCM) I didn't even consider the possibility of ovulating now....
2) I'm definitely going to start temping if I'm really not KU, so I went to scope out thermometers at the pharmacy (overseas, so they're labelled differently). How do you know if its a BBT thermometer or just a regular one? Does it have to say basal?

ETA: BSC, SS, and consulting Dr. Google has officially begun...and I was doing so well to avoid that this cycle!

GTKY: Do you consider yourself the spiritual/religious type? Or straight up empirical science-y type? Or both? A bit of both...I love science and math, but I also have a faith. In facts of the world and science, I don't see contradictions with my faith, so I would say a bit of both.

Month/Cycle: 5/5

CD/DPO: 23/9

Timing: -3, -1, 0

Testing: Tuesday/Wednesday maybe? I'm trying to make myself hold off.

R/R/CS: Woke up to a MASSIVE temp drop this morning - like, a full degree from yesterday. Which of course led to my laying in bed trying to furtively Google 'implantation dip' under the covers at 5:30am. Pair that with a crazy vivid pregnancy/labour/delivery dream last night and it's going to be a long, BSC few days.

GTKY: Do you consider yourself the spiritual/religious type? Or straight up empirical science-y type? Or both? Both I guess? I'm not religious at all, and I like scientific proof of things but I do believe there can be spiritual guiding forces in our lives.

We're off to a MLB game today! Hope everyone has a great day!

@buthayna I've seen them labeled as Basal Body Thermometers or Fertility Thermometers. Just make sure the reading temp is two digits past the decimal (97.53 vs. 97.5).

Testing: I'd like to wait until 12dpo, but we'll see how BSC I become.

R/R/CS: This WTO was rough, I'm really happy to be here!

GTKY: Do you consider yourself the spiritual/religious type? Or straight up empirical science-y type? Or both?

Both! H and I are active in our religious community, but also specifically chose a fairly progressive denomination that values science. We both love science and couldn't imagine being part of a faith community that ignores it.

@BusinessWife Ouch on FF moving your CHs! I'd agree with its current placement of it. At least you had sex during your FW though!
@buthayna - I had EWCM once a couple of cycles ago at 9dpo. Like yours, it was brief. Hope yours actually means something :) -- lol I misread, you said a ton... definitely have never had a ton after O. Also, I don't know if you have Amazon delivery where you are, but you can get the Mabis (the one a lot of people use here) on there.
@MelissaM090 - Oh no, sorry about the temp drop. Is your LP usually short? That seems like a huge drop for 9dpo. Hope you have fun at the game!
@houseofsetters - Yay! Glad you made it over here!

Month/Cycle: 4/2

CD/DPO: 25/7

Timing: -3, -2, -1

Testing: Going to hold out until the end of the week. I usually start spotting around day 10 or 11, so if I'm not spotting this cycle, I'll test.

R/R/CS: Feeling a lot better today! Mood is brighter and not feeling as crummy as the last few days. Temp went up slightly but not counting on it staying up. I'm not sure what constitutes an implantation dip and my temps are always erratic, so...

GTKY: Do you consider yourself the spiritual/religious type? Or straight up empirical science-y type? Or both? Not religious at all. I grew up Catholic and married into a religious family but I've never understood it all. I consider myself quite spiritual and practice yoga and meditation. I also heavily believe in science. I feel lucky to be part of 2 families that accept me as is and don't judge me for being/not being religious.

@canavara it was a ton to me...maybe not a ton for other people, I don't really know what's normal...but I usually have none, so if it was enough for me to think AF was here, it seemed like a ton! Who knows, maybe I'm ovulating and I'm in a random long cycle and I've spent 2 weeks in the TWW for nothing :( Definitely temping next cycle!

I can get Amazon UK where I am (just with extra shipping fees)...I'll check on the Mabis! Thanks :)

ETA: I found this, but it says to within 1/10th of a degree, which would be the first decimal place...but the picture shows two decimal places and @MelissaM090 said to the nearest hundredth....not sure if that's what I want or not :S

Yeah that's the one. Not sure why it says 1/10, it's definitely accurate to the hundredth (if you look at the images of it, it has 98.60 on all of the readings instead of 98.6)

Good Morning!

@businesswife I hate when FF does that! How rude. Good thing you still have timing in there.
@Buthayna I have noticed EWCM at different times, more during the FW, but it is definitely possible. As far as the thermometer I believe it does have to say BBT. Is Amazon an option? I got mine for $8.
@MelissaM090 lol The universe is not helping you out with the crazies, huh? FX this all leads to a positive ending. I think Google is getting a good workout this weekend.
@houseofsetters Yay for CH! Happy to see you over here. Your timing is excellent!
@canavara Ugh, I hate when FF feeds into the crazy! That is one of the reasons why I didn't get the VIP service again, it was just a little too much extra stuff. GL!
@kenya715 So glad to hear you are feeling in better spirits today. Sending positive thoughts your way!
@gonetothesea Congrats on CH! That is so exciting. That is great to hear that things are looking up! Your timing is awesome!

Month/Cycle: 9/9

CD/DPO: 25/8

Timing: Who knows!

Testing: Nope.

R/R/CS: So my PMS is in full force this weekend, which means I have been getting the most out of Google and that is the only reason why I still have a glimmer of hope. Reality is, looks like I O'd earlier than I thought and we have no idea what our timing is now. Kinda just waiting for my period now. I also feel like I am coming down with the dreaded cold, so I guess I will be drowning my sorrows with tea today. Yesterday, I cried at a huggies commercial, like full on, ugly cried. So now I am all like

GTKY: Definitely a healthy mix of both. I am more spiritual than religious, but DH and I do try to make it to church when we can. I am all for mixing in science when it comes to our health.

@PepperAT @MelissaM090 @canavara thanks for all your help! I ordered it (and 50 pregnancy tests) and I can't wait for them to come! Now I need to get researching so I know what the heck to do!

For anyone reading who temps vaginally: this might be an awkward question, but do you just stick it in? does it matter how far it goes as long as the tip is in there? It seems to be the popular opinion that vaginal temping is more precise than oral temping, so I'm going to just start with that, I think. I feel like I've wasted enough time not temping that I don't want to risk wasting cycles/data on unreadable charts IF I'm one of the people who have difficult-to-read charts from oral temping like some (not all) people end up having.

R/R/CS: My temp went way up today. FF moved my CH to CD15 on Advanced method, but I still think I o'd on CD13. On FAM method, it has CH on CD13. Either way, I have pretty good timing. I feel warm this morning and my throat is a little sore, hopefully I'm not getting sick.

GTKY: Do you consider yourself the spiritual/religious type? Or straight up empirical science-y type? Or both? I would say I'm a little bit of both. I'm in the medical field so I think science. But I believe in God and spirituality.

@Buthayna I usually just put the thermometer in about a couple of centimeters and rest it against the vaginal wall to make sure it gets a good reading. I one time made the mistake of putting it in way too far and poked my cervix--not a fun mistake :)

@canavara @PepperAT thanks, now i wish i had just ignored when it gave me dotted crosshairs, i might have pushed more to bd on cd15, which would have been O, but i was thinking if it was +2 then who cares, let's just go to sleep! Lol
@NurseMarie9 I guess that is FF's mo today! Only opk method leaves mine at cd13 and i think maybe fam has me at cd14. :p glad you feel confident in your original O-date!
@linzrunz They are so darn cute!!!
@Marley629 Yep! 7dpo sounds like the bsc is right on schedule!
@houseofsetters @gonetothesea Yay! Glad to see you here! And with great timing, no less! ;)
@MelissaM090 sounds like you have a fun day in store! It's been so long since I've been to a live game. Did your team win?
@Kenya715 glad you're feeling better! As far as implantation dips, FWIW, I try not to pay attention. First time I saw one I looked up a video online, where she shows chart with this beautiful ID, then she's all, "unfortunately, this woman did not get pregnant this cycle, " so that pretty much burst that whole bubble for me right there. I have had several cycles with implantation dips, or triphasic, and still not pregnant,so for me, I totally Do. Not. Care. If I see an ID on my chart. Not worth the stress ;) FX for you this cycle!!
@Buthayna glad you found your bbt and have it in the way!
@Megzb510 great timing! I now what you mean about the charts like mine. I try not to get too sucked down that rabbit hole if i can help it! Lol
Eta mobile ap legit ate 3/4 of my comment. I was even copying and pasting it into text messages when I would reload TB, cos it kept saying i didn't have permission, but i guess I wrongly assumed when it was looking like it was about to post, it would include the whole thing. I tried to fill back in the ones that got cut, but I'm sorry if missed anyone in the commotion!! Also, So. Month/Cycle: 5/6

CD/DPO: 25/9

Timing: Poor

Testing: Only if AF doesn't show up

R/R/CS: Big ol' temp drop today to just below cover line. I already knew I was out, but it still made me feel a little crummy. I can't let go of that little ray of baby making hope!

In other news, I'm on call from work today so I've been outside setting up my container garden in some pots, and I'm line drying clothing for the first time! Might do look at some houses with the hubs.

GTKY: I think I'm both. I go to mass every Sunday (that I'm not working, that is), I truly believe what I'm going for... But I'm also very scientific/logical in my speech and thought pattern and I need a lot of evidence to back up any decisions I make, etc. I even see my religious and spiritual beliefs as somewhat backed up by experience - I frequently say "if it's been around for 2000 years, something's going on" and my career as a nurse has so far shown me a lot of things I see as "evidence" of something more, for lack of a better way to put it.

@Marley629 - That kind of wraps up how I feel, in a lot less words. Science with a little help. Also yesterday I googled "butterflies at 8 DPO" so like, I'm with ya on the crazy.

@MelissaM090 - Have fun at the game!! I had a huge dip today, too... And have managed to not google temp dip at 9 DPO yet, but man. Man.

@houseofsetters - Glad you had your O!

@canavara - oh my goodness I hope I can hold out and not test at all like you plan to. That's my current plan, but we will see. I have zero tests in the house to help me out.

@Buthayna - Pretty much every time I get EWCM it's enough for me to run to the bathroom in fear. Well, I guess now that I'm tracking my cycle and I know to expect it, I don't, but I definitely used to. But I get it with every cycle.

@gonetothesea - Yay!! Welcome!

@PepperAT - I got super pissed at DH last night, for less than necessary of a reason, and decided it was a totally KU symptom. Then today I was like, oh right PMS... Hahaha. I'm sorry you have a cold!! Maybe if you do get AF soon you can make a hot toddy ❤️

@NurseMarie9 - I still can't decide if I should use advanced or FAM on a regular basis. Half of my cycles I interpret on my own.

@Megzb510 - I can't agree with you more on the annoyed by pseudoscience and anti-vaxxers. Big peeves.

*Question: Is green tea okay in TWW or could it have any effect on implantation?

@gonetothesea yay for CH! Your timing looks great! :)
@PepperAT Sorry you're feeling down. I feel like I'm coming down with something also. I'll probably need some tea later today.

@Megzb510 I also have wondfos on hand this time, I want to wait until CD11 but I'm sure I'll start sooner lol

@BusinessWife dang FF can't make up its mind! At least it looks like with your timing, you're still in the game!
@Khbear sorry about the temp drop :( Enjoy your gardening today! I can't wait to get my container pots going.

@NurseMarie9 I think it's fine but I'm not an expert. I would say drinking a few cups like normal is good, I just wouldn't go taking green tea supplement pills. I believe it's just the caffeine that's the issue.
• Options
@NurseMarie9 I agree, everything in moderation! I do remember reading somewhere that green tea can decrease or prevent? ( I can't think of the proper word) the ability to absorb folic acid. But I think it is similar to coffee, as long as you are not chugging it all day long.

*Question -- after reading about the green tea, is there something/an article out there that you all are referencing that you'd recommend to see what to do and what not to do (food and drink-wise) while you're in the TWW? I thought you could continue to do/eat whatever you've been eating with no problem and adjust if there is a BFP? I'm learning something new everyday! :)

@futuremrshp ya, that's true. Most any normal foods and drink are fine. You just want to watch when you start getting into certain herbs and supplements. Like I have a fertilitea that is specifically for the follicular phase, but not recommended after you confirm O. I had a supplement that was clearly labeled not to take if you may become pregnant, but otherwise you are absolutely correct. Some people limit caffeine or alcohol, others are, "drink till it's pink." To each their own!

Testing: If FF keeps my CH, probably Friday

R/R/CS: Well hello! I'm optimistically going to jump in over here, though i'm about 80% confident FF will take away my crosshairs any day now (already did it once, early last week).. This has been my first cycle off BCP (which I was on for ~12 years) and boy has it been a doozy..

Any professional opinions on whether i've actually ovulated this time around? Those two high temps I woke up feeling pretty warm, but the last two days have felt normal - even though they're lower they're still some of my highest temps. I guess the only real answer is 'wait another 9 days and see' but speculation seems so much more fun.. :)
Chart: https://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/6358d1
[as a side note, I don't actually ever sleep for 3 full hours in a row, so that's probably not helping here..]

GTKY: Do you consider yourself the spiritual/religious type? Or straight up empirical science-y type? Or both?
I'm agnostic and very much science-y.

@BusinessWife - (hugs)! I got it part way finished today. I need one more container, and I'm thinking of growing either my zucchini or my lettuce/spinach in an old metal washtub. I just need to drill holes in the bottom. Happy birthday to your grandma!

@NurseMarie9 - Gardening was totally therapeutic, and I kind of felt a bit "circle of life"-y while doing it, from a TTC perspective. Yknow, planting seeds and what not. :) Also I drink green tea all the time. I'm not KU yet so who knows, but the only issue I've really heard of is it may inhibit folic acid absorption? Like @PepperAT said, I think in moderation it won't hurt you. I just don't drink it when I'm taking my PNV.

@futuremrshp - I totally back up what @BusinessWife said. The only thing I can think to add is just trying to eat and be healthier in general, because a healthy body helps a healthy pregnancy down the road. And in general it's good for you!
