I've seen this on other boards, but I don't see it here... Anyone in this unfortunate club with me? I failed the 1 hour last week, then the 3 hour yesterday, so she has diagnosed me with mild GD. I have to pick up my testing supplies after work and test 4x a day (first thing in the morning and an hour after each meal) and log foods, but I don't require insulin at this point (and hopefully won't). They couldn't get me in for education until May 2, so it's kind of a guessing game for me until then.
Right now, I just feel like crying because I feel like my body is just awful at pregnancy. I had 2 months of bedrest and pre-term labor with my son, then a miscarriage the pregnancy after him, and now GD with this one (after already having "irritable uterus" contractions with this one and being on Procardia). I'm glad I only wanted two kids!

Maybe this will at least make you more comfortable with terminology, and skills.
It's in no way our faults. Anybody can get it! There are days all I want to do is cry, but remember it should go away after your baby is born.
Eating right is hard. I still nibble on chocolate here and there, just enough to help my cravings. It sucks because we should be eating whatever we want, but sadly we can't.
I understand your frustrations. The first day or too I was upset, now I've kind of gotten used to it, and actually feel it may help me to be a little healthier. We will get through this!
My OB wants my fasting to be under 90 and 120 for one hour after eating. My advice would be to do as much research as you can on the subject. Get a good meal plan for groceries. If you want a natural birth (no induction or meds) that is possible however you really need a supportive OB and be knowledge of the risks of going past a certain post. GD gives you some risks like a bigger baby getting stuck, placenta calcification, unstable blood sugars in baby after birth. Personally, I will weigh the pros and cons and decide if I will allow them to induce me at 39 or give it until 40. I will not go past 40 because I worry about stillbirth.

Just some food for thought.
Anyway, I find myself here with you lovely ladies. Failed the 1 hour by a few points, and my 3 hour was weird... My fasting was perfect, 1 hour after drinking that crap my number was about 50 points below the accepted cut off, at 2 hours it was 40 above the accepted cut off, and 3 hours it was about back to normal, but still just slightly elevated. Until yesterday I was testing 4 times a day, but was allowed to cut back to 2 times a day (and additional if I feel out of my norm). No insulin or anything, and as long as I am moving around after eating (even just walking around the house) and have some water, I have so far been very lucky that it stays in my "safe" ranges.
Can we talk about that for a minute? I wonder what goes into those numbers? How are they decided? Because my top accepted number for 1 hour after eating seems to be more than everyone else I have talked too...
Little man has been measuring big for some time (since around 9-12 weeks) falling into the 97th percentile now. The plan so far is just for me to keep my numbers low like they are, and keep moving to keep us healthy and from gaining too much. I had an additional growth ultrasound on Tuesday, and another between 32-36 weeks (depending on how we look when we go in). I was told that ultrasound will be the deciding factor to induce (before our already agreed upon induction if I hit 40 weeks and 1 day plan) or not. I am really hoping to avoid that!

The good news? My sugars were back to normal the day after I delivered my DD. Due to the risk of type 2 diabetes I track my A1C pretty carefully but 3 years in it is still in the normal range and I am a fluffy gal.
This pregnancy I am struggling more for several reasons. 1. Harder to eat well and exercise and get the proper amount of sleep with a toddler. 2. My fasting numbers are just horrible. Even with insulin. I am having the same creep up just as I did in my first pregnancy but it is just faster than that one. Very discouraging to do everything right and still see the "wrong results".
I had a horrible endo appt today. Despite not asking what I was eating ever, the endo said I should be eating smaller meals as my BMI is still high. Umm yeah - pregnancy really isn't the best time to start a diet and lose those pesky pre-pregnancy pounds. Oh - and I have gained 4 pounds total so far this pregnancy at 28 weeks. I have decided he was just a douche.
For those who are curious about levels: my fasting is to be under 95 and my 1 hour is to be under 140. This is totally different (new practice) from my first pregnancy and almost everything the nutritionist told me this go around was almost the complete opposite of my first pregnancy. So I am trying to find the middle ground. Eat what is healthy, exercise and try not to beat myself up over something that is some days just out of my control.
So there's this boy. He kinda stole my heart. He calls me "Mom"

Then skippy PB is actually only 6g carbs per 2 tablespoons, minus 2 g of fiber!
Always interested in what everyone is told as far as counts/subtracting etc. I was told only subtract fiber if it was 5g or more. The new nutritionist/dietician for where my mom works told them can't subtract fiber. The old one for there told them subtract fiber AND protein. My grandma was told subtract nothing. So always interesting to me
On the bread talk, Aunt Millie's whole grain white bread only has 10g of carbs for one piece with 2.5g fiber (the package has it listed for to pieces 20g and 5. So depending on how you were told to count, may be less).
Also corn tortillas (especially yellow corn) are usually about half the carbs as others.
I have 6in Mission yellow corn tortillas (that say gluten free) that are 13g carbs, 2 fiber for 1 shell.
Old El Paso 6in flour tortillas are 2 shells for 24 carbs.
Making a million variations of tacos etc or doing them similar to an open faced grilled cheese (then folding it over on it's self) sometimes adding pepperoni or something, usually makes a really filling meal. Depending on what's in it, we either use Taco sauce and sour cream to dip it in or sometimes pizza sauce.
Have to give props to my DH who has been a rockstar of scouring YouTube and finding all kinds of cool low carb recipes and substitutions for our normal foods. So I suggest that if you have some time!

I hate artificial sweeteners but liked the carb smart ice cream bars that reminded me of pudding pops after a few weeks without real sugar. I ate a slice of ezekiel bread with 2 eggs almost every morning and stocked my purse with individual peanut butter servings, almomds, a boiled eggs.
My favorite dinners were salads and broth soups with one serving or noodles or rice in them. I also got into mashed cauliflower and roasted carrots to replace potatoes.
