Infertility

Estrogen priming protocol cut short by cycle.

I have had two canceled rounds of IVF (antagonist) and one failed cycle (micro lupron). This time we were going to try the estrogen priming. I started the patches when directed, then yesterday before starting ganirelix, I started spotting yesterday. I called and the on call staff said to move up ganirelix and start that evening and call with update in the morning. So I called in the morning and then 30 minutes later when my cycle started. I was told to stop the ganirelix and estrogen and start cycle tomorrow. Apparently the estrogen was supposed to delay my cycle. Anyone had this happen? I have DOR with very low AMH and turn 33 soon.  I am concerned that because protocol cut short, I won't have good results.  Ugh. If this protocol didn't work any better we were just going with egg donor, especially since my little boy has a very rare x linked disorder.  I don't love the thought of loans and all the issues but at the moment I am feeling discouraged.

  • I think I'm doing an estrogen priming protocol too, but I'm starting with Estrace pills each night.  I just started my period at the same time I was supposed before the pills.  I'm confused because I thought i wouldn't have a period too? Couldn't get a hold of anyone at my docs.
@kyethra did you find out anything about your cycle?
Me & DH - 41, DH has a cyst blocking his tubes, I'm just old.
    IVF #1 scheduled May 2016 - 375/525 follistim, 75 menopur - cancelled cycle Day 6
    IVF #2 scheduled July 2016 - new protocol, switcharoo...IUI June 2016 - BFN
IVF#3 scheduled August 2016 - estrogen & testosterone primed for 3 wks - ganirelix 7 days leading up to stim - 500 follistim, 75 menopur, 150 clomid , no follicle growth on day 6, stopped injectibles. Scanned day 9 just to check, some growth, 3 days 200 mg clomid, day 12 more growth, 100 follistim, 75 menopur, start ganirelix on day 13, ER = 0 eggs, ovulated to soon ( :( )
IVF#4 scheduled Sept 2016 - Microdose Flare protocol, cancelled stim day 6 converted to IUI (one dominant follicle)  :(  IUI cancelled ovulated too soon again. Taking a mental health break.
IVF#5 December 2016 - New protocol, same results. My adventure is over.

  • I had my start cycle appointment and the nurse said she wondered too and asked a doc there who had just done this protocol. Apparently it is ok, and people do pregnant when it is cut short. It looked promising this weekend with multiple follicles. On tuesday it was iffy, I had at least 4 follicles but only one lead follicle. So we have to see what things look like tomorrow morning. If this cycle go to egg retrieval I am going to donor egg unless my doctor has some way to tweak this that she is super positive about. So as I inject myself I just remind myself I likely won't need to do stims again.
