Pregnant after a Loss

TW--Early miscarriage and future risk?

I like to be prepared and know my odds...
So I came across this article today.   I like it because it is a little more specific regarding risk as it brings different factors into play.  I have had 3 early losses (on or before the 5th week)  do those count towards high risk for this (and future) pregnancies, or because they happened so early do they not count towards risk for future miscarriage?  Thoughts?

Re: TW--Early miscarriage and future risk?

  • I'm definitely not an expert but after 3 losses my doctor went ahead with some preliminary tests to rule out blood clotting disorders, thyroid problems and something else. We would've done more but I got pregnant again soon after those tests and so far so good. I'd ask for some tests to be done at least for your own peace of mind!

  • @rkrichey, I'm in the same boat.  Did a bunch of blood work tests after my 3rd loss.  Next step was HSG, but I got pregnant.  My first ultrasound is coming up soon, so guess I'm just getting nervous about potential bad news.

  • I had a MMC and my doctor said if I had another MC, he would do testing. My second loss was a chemical pregnancy at 4w2d and he said those were very common, so he would wait to do testing if I had another MC that was further along. I'm not sure about 3 CP's, though. Personally, if I had a third loss at any stage I would have gone to an RE, whether my dr recommended it or not. But I'm 37, so that definitely makes things more urgent.

RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.
