We took our announcement photo today! Pretty cute. I think I'll post it in the "how will you announce" thread.

I'm fighting with pasta. I tried Dreamfields pasta, which is supposed to have a lower glycemic index (doesn't spike blood sugar as fast) than normal pasta. My blood sugars were out of control last night, 8 hours after I ate it. It was scary. I don't even know what to try to fix it. But I'm stubborn and I love this damn garlic pasta and I'm eating it again now for a second test with different insulin. Because I want to make it work.

Or I'm a glutton for punishment.

I got sunburned while umpiring yesterday. So today I am nursing those, and using it as a major excuse to nap and Netflix all day.

@Sugargirl1019  We eat the Dreamfields almost exclusively if having pasta.  I've been seriously tempted to use my Dad's accucheck and do a test on it.  It tastes too good to be low GI!

For teachers, when do you plan on telling your boss that you are pregnant? I feel like we are special snowflakes because we aren't in the same contract year as when we are due. Are you planning to tell your principal prior to summer break? I will be 23 weeks when we come back for next year. I feel like that's too late, but is telling them at 11 weeks too early?

@JulieSmiles I am a special snowflake, within the teacher SS.
I have already told my principal. I will be high risk, my OB is ~45min away (stupid insurance/hospital) - doesn't do OB apps after 3:30, and I will have appointments 2x a week the last tri. (so basically from the first day of classes until LO comes). Since I needed to find away to work around all the app times, I told them now so I can hopefully not have an advisory and not need a sub 2x a week for the last hour.

Otherwise I would tell them when we came back from summer. I would also have a plan about what your time off/long term sub would be doing.

@JulieSmiles I'm a teacher and contra tually obligated to inform of pregnancy at or before 13 weeks! I refused to let my jerk of a principal know first so it forced me to tell everyone else at 11 weeks.

How can they do that? and Why would they do that?

@Kate08Young  I know sounds crazy right? We had a woman that had a high risk pregnancy after a few miscarriages and for a few weeks the only person in her life besides her partner that new was my principal. I don't know how and why, especially considering no one talked to me about maternity leave until I was 6 weeks from taking it

I'm pretty sure they cannot actually make you do that, as it would be a serious invasion of privacy and HIPPA laws.

I'm also a teacher. I'll likely let the principal and the psychologist (I teach special Ed) know around 10 weeks..so second to last week of school. I had planned on adding an advisory group next year, but now that might not work as well with a sub, the principal can decide.

Most annoying - all ieps which will be due while I'm out will have to be done earlier. Waaaaahhh. This fall will be very busy.

    Congrats @MamaWino !

@Smashjam I can't see how they can do that.  It seems like a huge invasion of privacy.

@JulieSmilesI am a teacher too.  We meet for our bonuses and pay raises before the end of the school year.  We aren't done until June 10th, so I will be in my second trimester by then.  I will probably tell my principal at that time.  She knows we have been trying.  I've been with the school since we first opened, so I think she will be understanding.  We are a small, young staff and have had at least two babies born from staff the past three years.

I'm a special ed teacher too. I am already dreading how many IEPs I will have before Thanksgiving.

My in-Laws gave our DD an easter basket that contained little bags of goldfish crackers...and I'm eating them. They're too salty for an 18 month old anyway right lol

I just got ump-ing a JV baseball game. I feel like I just rode a horse for 20miles. Apparently I really use my inner thighs when I 'squat' behind the catchers.
