Any good reads??

Hey Ladies!  Anyone reading a good pregnancy book?? I have What to Expect but there are so many great books out there, I'd love to hear some opinions and feedback!

Re: Any good reads??

  • I was advised by many people not to read WTEWYE because I already have anxiety and it can make it worse. If you're fine with it then it's a good book.

What I am reading is "Expecting Better". It's less alarmist and gives you the actual data and percentages of risks and what not vs. just telling you that you can't have anything for 9 months. I also bought a pregnancy countdown and journal. It's pretty cute. You get to write what was popular at what month and your cravings and symptoms and weird dreams and all kinds of fun things.

Not sure if you're religious, but I'm also reading "Expectant Parents" from the producers of focus on the family ministries and am looking to buy the "Pregnancy Companion" which has daily journal and devotions in there. I have severe anxiety over this pregnancy so I need all the spiritual "calm" I can get! Lol.

I'm reading the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy.  I wanted something that I knew would be from a reliable, scientific source.  So far, the beginning is a lot of what I already knew, but I do like the format.

  • I really liked Baby Bargains and basically used it as my bible for making a registry. I also read What to Expect, but it was mostly stuff I already knew- then again I'm a nursing student that has always taken an interest in this stuff. I've been thinking about Expecting Better but I think my PGAL brain will just argue with it.

  • I just started reading Your Pregnancy Week by Week, 7th Edition by Judith Schuler, but unfortunately I think it is a bit like WTEWYE as far as inducing anxiety.  Don't know if I will continue reading!
