Tingly Hands/Carpal Tunnel

Anyone else lucky enough to be struck with this lovely symptom? Its mostly at night when I'm laying down, but my hands and arms are constantly falling asleep! Its hard to fall asleep when the sheets feel like pins and needles on your hands.

Lately its been happening during the day as well. I know its generally normal but has anyone found those hand braces to be effective? I'd hate to walk around with one of them if they really don't make a difference.

Re: Tingly Hands/Carpal Tunnel

  • I get tingly hands sometimes during the night, but usually in the morning, about 15-20 minutes after I wake up. Doesn't last long, but I'm not a fan!
  • I had bad carpal tunnel before I got pregnant. Had surgery on one hand so it's good now but still struggle with the other. Those wrist guard things REALLY help. Just wear them at night. I had a lot of relief using them.

  • Not yet, but I'm expecting it as I had it with both other pregnancies. Mine is worst at night and morning. It sucks especially since there is nothing at all you can do about it. Sorry :(

  • I sleep with the braces but don't wear them during the day - they help for sure! I still get tingling during the day occasionally, but it wears off quickly as it's usually just because I was holding my phone up to my ear for more than 5 minutes or some similar position where I'm constricting the blood flow.
  • I started wearing wrist braces to sleep last week. Makes a huge difference not only while I'm laying down but also during the day when I'm not wearing them. Remembering to take it off in the middle of the night when I have to pee is annoying but otherwise I'm a fan!

    I got these: https://www.futuro-usa.com/3M/en_US/futuro-us/products/?N=4318+3294508029+3294529207+3294857497&rt=rud
  • Thanks for the input! Looks like I'll be buying some wrist braces today, haha.
  • Didn't realize how common this is. I had some issues after DD was born which I believe was related to carrying her/constant phone use during BFing. I googled it and it's nicknamed "mommy thumb." It's a different tunnel than the carpal if I remember. I'm feeling it coming back already this time though. I did use a wrist guard for a few weeks. It really helped, but it also wore into my wrist and made some sores like new shoes do.
