so My LO was sleeping on the couch, I usually bump up the edge with a blanket incase he rolls over.... I was laying down next to him when DH woke up so I got up and we both headed to the kitchen which is like 5 steps away. Next thing I know the baby cries and when I look baby is on the floor! I picked him up he cried for maybe 1 minute then he was fine. I checked him to see if he had any injuries nothing. He's been acting normal. I feel  so horrible! Like a horrible mother  :(

Re: LO fell & I feel horrible!!!!

  • Accidents happen. As long as your LO is ok, you shouldn't worry. But please put him in his crib or a playard. If you still like the idea of laying near him you could always start on the floor.

  • Hi mama!! I was cosleeping with my son and he has learned to roll and when I was waking up to get him he was on the floor because he rolled off the bed!! I started crying and screaming but thank God he landed on blanket and bed is not to high. He didn't hurt himself and as soon as I picked him up he stop crying and started hugging me... Next day we bought the bed rail and NEVER again did this happen! Believe me accidents happen and don't worry mama I too felt like that!! Now I always keep an eye to him and my bed has been baby proofed to the max lol I'm glad your little one is good and don't feel like that, you are doing great!
  • This also happend to my LO when he was a couple months younger I would leave him on the couch for couple minutes because he couldn't roll over then one day bam he's in the floor . I had to learn the hard way that he was starting to be more mobile. Accidents happen I had this experience with all three of my kids as babies. You are NOT a horrible mom and please don't make an accident make u feel like that. You are a great mother and you were there to comfort and love your LO after it happend and I'm pretty sure you learned from it and that's  all that matters. Babies are so much stronger then what we think . Keep your head up and remember you are a great mom !
  • Oh no, poor little one. But I've heard so many moms say this has happened to them. I promise you're not the first nor will be the last. We used to leave our LO on the couch to play but I started to see her try and roll over and we stopped leaving her on it. They're quick! You're a good mom, don't stress to much about it.
  • This actually just happened today! I had a boppy around her, middle of the bed and she was sleeping. I went to the kitchen to grab a bottle and then I hear her crying, I came in the bedroom and she was on the floor. I was so worried!!! BUT she was fine :)
  • This just happened to me this morning. I had her right next to me on the couch and I turned my head for less than ten seconds and suddenly I heard a thump, and she was on the floor looking up at me. I was educated as an EMT, so I gave her a full examination to make sure there were no injuries, no signs of concussion or anything. Physically, she was fine, just shaken up, but I feel so horrible! I couldn't believe I didn't even feel her move.

  • Same exact thing happened to me a while back. Learn from our mistake and try not to beat yourself up. I felt really bad though!
