Pregnant after 35

It's gonna be a tough two weeks (anxiety ridden post

hi ladies,  I requested my betas to be taken about a week ago - my HCG was 1844 but my progesterone was only 8.4.  My doctor had me start progesterone immediately.  Four days later my HCG was in the 3600's - it didn't double daily like she was hoping.  I had a sonogram yesterday and the doctor was pleasantly surprised.  There was something in there - a sack and a fetal pole (and it was hard to tell for sure but maybe even a heart beat).  She was concerned that it could have been an empty sac or an ectopic pregnancy.  However, it's measuring small...  Like 5+ weeks when I thought I was 6+.  She wants me to continue the progesterone and come back in 2 weeks.  She thinks the odds are 60/40...40 being good.  Does anyone have any advice or experience?  Thank you!

I don't have any experience, other than that, with my first, we were a week behind where we thought we were. And, if that's the case here, and you are really only 5+ weeks, it seems like it would be early to see much...

I'm sure these next two weeks will be long ones for you. I hope you can find some fun ways to try to distract yourself. And, here's hoping for good news at your next appointment!
  • It is soooooo early. Lots can happen in two weeks! Keep the faith!

Tried for DS for 1 year; one dose clomid Nov 2011 = DS born on 8/10/12

  • I don't have much advice either, but: at my first ultrasound, I went in thinking I was 7w5d based on lmp, but I was measuring 6w4d. At that point, they already saw a strong heartbeat, so the doctor said I probably just ovulated later than I thought. I'm now almost 13 weeks and the baby has continued growing beautifully.

  • I totally could have miscalculated...  But, HCG numbers didn't double...  They went up but didn't double.  Not sure how that plays into everything?
  • So...  Found heartbeat and baby measured 8 weeks.  But, sac looked small.  Geez!  Gotta wait for appointment with specialist now.  This waiting is getting the best of me.
  • I hope you get good news!
