Trying to Get Pregnant

Baby Fever

Hi, I am also a newbie to this website and to the trying to conceive world. This is my first month trying to conceive and it is exciting, nerve racking, stressful, and wonderful all at the same time. I am 23 in a few days and the internet has to be every TTC womens worst nightmare. I have been googling what to do to help conceive, lurking in threads, googling DPO symptoms and everything else. I am currently CD23 and 9DPO. Fingers crossed of course but Ive been telling myself that this is only the first month after having my IUD removed and not to be let down when I get a negative result.

• Are you temping, and sure you O'd on cd14? Just so you know, it's pretty common for a hormonal iud like mirena to mess up your cycles for a little while.

• Hello and welcome. How do you know you are 9dpo.
My TTC History:
2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
2012: Baby #1
2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

• I meant to post this under introductions :(
• @simplysmith09 no shame, just re-intro over there and then start in on the TWW and WTO posts. Welcome and GL
• I also took an ovulation test and i'm pretty sure it was positive on Saturday the 16th. So I am not 100% sure if I should count that, that's why I am expecting a negative pregnancy test. I am hoping February will be more defined on the Ovulation test.
I also have been using the Ovia Fertility charting app for a month and a half and it charted my fertility window for me.
What are you ladies using for ovulation test?
How are your BBT's? mine have been elevated since my "fertile window" by like a whole degree . If I get AF on the 2nd of Feb. then I will know the app is decently close.
• I am excited to chat with you ladies about everything. So, I am kind of glad I accidentaly posted this outside of the thread.

Most of us here use Fertility Friend to chart - it works better than Ovia with predicting your fertile window.

I don't personally use OPKs, but a lot of women here use Wondfos (you can buy them on Amazon) because they are super cheap.

• @simplysmith09 hi and welcome! Like PPs have said there is a thread for intros but I wanted to add to a few things others have said!

I use Ovia and Fertility Friend. Love me some data. They usually agree but the amount of info that FF provides and teaches you is amazing. There are lessons on FF, and a plethora of charts to compare yours to each month. Ovia is prettier though. So that's why I keep both :)

I had an IUD previously too! Had it removed in July. It's really hard not to get your hopes up every month, especially that first month. But keep in mind that it can take your body up to 6 months to detox from hormonal birth control (some IUDs aren't hormonal though, so disregard this if you had one of those!)

You've picked a great board to become a part of, these women know their stuff. I recommend lurking a lot as a newbie and starting out posting in the TWW or WTO thread like you already have! And always, always, always use the search feature- it is so useful!

• Welcome! PP pretty much covered everything. Just fyi there are wondfo imposters on amazon, so do a search on here or go to wondfo's website to find the real sellers.
I mainly came here to say that with your screen name, age, and the way you speak (type), I totally thought you were my step sister and was like "Crap! They're all going to know! :cold_sweat: " But her birthday is in the fall. Whew. So, extra welcome now that I know you're not family.

OMG worst nightmare!
Haha, this is something I'm constantly worried about. If you know me in real life, you'll figure out real quick who I am lol
• Here is a question for everyone, whats your take one alcohol? I mean, bachelor monday requires red wine, but I felt guilty last night.

Oh, and I had Mirena for 5 years. I got it taken out 6 months after 5 years, so the hormones had worn out and were very minimal by then.
My body seemed to adjust well, I had removal bleeding a few days after removal and then had a reqular semi lighy period 2 week later.
So, I am not sure if my body has hormones in it still or not. Mirena claims I shouldnt.
• Perfect meme. There was this topic running around about when to test, some women were testing 10dpo. I assumed that 12-14 was the time frame or on the day of a missed period. My app says on 12dpo
What day does everyone test?
• I'm pretty new at this, but I test before drinking after 8 DPO and start for real around 11. I have a shorter LP, however.

Yes, I was testing also, just put of being nervous and it put a damper on my day seeing the negative that I knew Id get.

I also wanted to see how everyone feels about herbal teas. Ive been drinking nettle tea and raspberry leaf tea everyday religiously.
• I am very cautious about herbal teas (and I drink TONS of tea) because everything that I've felt was reliable that I've read basically says there's not enough research to say whether or not they're safe. Nettles are particularly controversial, I believe.
Me: 30 DH: 32 ~~ TTC #1: Sep 2015 ~~ BFP: Mar 2016 ~~ Daughter: Nov 2016
TTC #2: April 2018 ~~ BFP: May 2018 ~~ EDD: January 2019

• I'm not worrying about herbal tea yet, but will check ingredients with my doctor once actually PG. The one I currently have is a cinnamon spiced cider concoction, not something attempting to have any medicinal value.
• Everything ive read about raspberry leaf tea seems to be okay, I just bought the fresh leaf nettle tea the other day and im unsure about drinking it. Some sites highly recommened both and then others are against nettle tea.
Raspberry tea is said to help build the uterine lining and help stretch the luteal phase for conception. So, ill probably keep drinking this one.

The nettle tea makes me suspicious though
• @NovaSaysNo I am starting to wonder about my wondfos! I mean, maybe they are fine, I tried to find a reputable seller, and the CBEAdv's are all O's too so... I am like, uhh, we can turn an OPK any minute here guys! I have never before felt so much the WAIT. to O. :/

@simplysmith09 I have a blend I'm trying this month that is called Fertilitea, so I think that should be safe for the first half of the cycle, and then I'm switching to plain red raspberry leaf once I confirm O. FX for your BFP!!!

What is the Fertilitea blend? Are you blending your own teas together or is it a commercial one I can go out to buy?
Ive been drinking the Pregnancy tea just because I havent found anything yet besides the Raspberry leaf tea.

A lot of people are getting skeptical of wondfos. :( I apparently haven't been ovulating at all (says the doc at my appt) so it's no wonder I've only turned one (thank you one LH surge for giving me hope...). Any ideas on decent replacements? I just like how cheap they are and they used to have a solid reputation. Now that I'll hopefully be ovulating soonish I would like to make sure I'm using something that will show me!

OPKs don't confirm ovulation, they just detect the surge. The only way to confirm O is to temp & chart.

Right, the issue I was mentioning was the reliability of the wondfo products, which has been questioned by multiple people lately. That's why I mentioned the one LH surge that didn't actually mean anything (gave me false hope that ovulation was possible at all- I know LH surges don't always mean ovulation). Some women can never turn a wondfo, but can with other brands. Yes, I understand temping is the only way to confirm, but unfortunately, that's not an option for me, so finding a good opk is the best I can do which is why I was asking for other recommendations. Hope that was clearer. I'm not always clear after a 12 hour shift.

Edited to add: I see what else may be confusing, where I said I hadn't been ovulating at all. That was confirmed via my OBGYN and RE (at the same practice, thankfully) because of medical problems that I have (which are really rare). It's been preventing ovulation completely.
Also, by "show me" future ovulations, I did completely mean LH surges (poss ovulation), just wasn't clear. I didn't realize how much I left out until writing this.
• I just updated my Fertility Friend chart since Ive only been using Ovia, and well they dont really match up exactly. Fertility Friend has me at CD25/9DPO
And Ovia has CD25/11DPO and a 2 day difference on the fertile window. Is that normal if using both? :|

@simplysmith09 Yes the one I am trying is available on Amazon, either loose or in bags. There are 16 bags per box, so I just bought one and have been drinking one a day since AF had me on my knees practically. I don't usually ovulate past CD15 or 16, so when I run out, I'm out. AND HOPEFULLY DON'T NEED A SECOND BOX!! ;)

But of course, not KTFU yet so I can't speak personally to its effectiveness.

@NovaSaysNo This is only my first cycle trying either Wondfos or the digis, so it remains to be seen. So far I did finally get a flashing smiley today (based on which I tweaked my ticker a bit for a 30-day cycle, so O would be four days away) but still no positive wondfos. Time will tell...

• I started using Ovia originally until I heard you ladies talking about FF, so I downloaded it yesterday and uploaded all of the information. But the fertile days are off, FF has be Ovulated on the 20th and Ovia doesnt even show those days as being fertile.
• I've never used Ovia and I don't know how it works, but you have all this watery (i.e. fertile) cm marked in FF, and then a huge temp spike so.... the FF chart looks pretty straightforward to me, wouldn't you say, @TheBorg7of9 and @MRSCORKER?

I agree and I think if you took out the EWCM on CD 21, your CH would be solid. Judging by your temps, OP, it looks like that was just a random patch of fertile CM and not an indication that you were fertile at that time.

• On the fertility tea front, I occasionally drink this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008AJPXKU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1454172302&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=fertility+tea&dpPl=1&dpID=41JOYXJ8JQL&ref=plSrch

I don't drink it daily and I'm not KU, so I can't speak to whether it helps in the slightest. But OMG it is freaking delicious! I'm not a huge tea drinker, but really love the flavor of this tea.
