Soooooo. My baby shower is scheduled for Saturday and all of a sudden, winter has decided to arrive in the Baltimore/DC area and they're saying we could get an actual snow storm this weekend. Anyone from this area knows that they can't predict these kinds of storms very well until the last minute. People are driving from all over to attend, so if it's bad weather, I definitely wouldn't want people to risk being on the roads. At what point do we cancel? Do we reschedule? I know it's ultimately up to the hostesses, but I thought I'd crowdsource for thoughts. I don't want to the hostesses to buy a bunch of food and stuff and have it get snowed out at the last second but also don't want to cancel prematurely... Also, as far as rescheduling goes, I don't want to inconvenience people and I'm also getting pretty tired and was planning on laying low for February to prepare for baby's arrival. (Due 2/28). Any thoughts?
Re: Baby Shower in a Snowstorm?
In addition, I'm in central VA and the problem is that 90% of the time they predict a 'snow storm' it's usually nothing or just a little bit of snow. I think even though they are predicting snow, the temp is only going to be right around freezing but not definitely below freezing, so most of the snow may not stick even if we do get a lot. Good luck!
If you don't cancel and the weather turns out worse then expected, people are able to make the decision on whether to drive or not for themselves. A well treated suburb is entirely different from back roads and a place in the woods.
