Schedule for solids

We are just now adding a lunch so lo will be getting 3 meals a day, for a while he was on solid foods twice a day but we got the go ahead to increase it with the addition of meats. Although i'm having trouble figuring out what to pair together, when to give fruits or vegetables (Also whether or not to keep feeding cereal in the morning plus at night). Should he be having 2 things at each meal? I know its ultimately up to us as parents but what is everyone doing, i just want the general consensus. I'm sure we'll be changing it up a little anyway as time goes on, it usually varies day to day

  • I have read there's other moms who got the okay to mix 2 veggies or fruits. I'm also looking forward to this thread to see what other moms do. Im just starting to give solids but I want to know how to increase it also!

  • I really like the website: https://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/  There's food charts to offer a guide about what foods to start introducing at different ages.  I also follow the recipes.  In addition to giving pureed fruits and veggies, I also have pureed some of our family meals (like chicken stew, or chicken meatballs).  I freeze them in ice cube trays so each cube is about an ounce and I can just warm them up when I want.

  • My LO has acid reflux so I'm going really slow and trying to stick to 1 or 2 ingredient foods. So far we do foods 2x a day. Oatmeal for breakfast and a fruit or veggie for lunch.
  • We've been doing oatmeal in the AM and either a fruit or veggie for dinner. I just added a fruit or veggie at lunch now, too. I haven't started with pureed meat or mixed foods yet. Probably do that next month.
  • Are you doing oatmeal in the morning AND at night along with the veggie or just one or the other?
  • I'm doing just oatmeal in the morning, and then either fruit or veggie and lunch and dinner. The last feeding, we just do formula for now.
  • I'm doing oatmeal in the morning also , and veggie as a snack in the afternoon. Haven't introduce him to any fruits or meats.
  • Ok i wasn't sure whether to still keep up with rice cereal twice a day like we started out doing or to substitute that for a fruit/veggie
  • We do oatmeal for breakfast then for lunch a fruit AND a veggie and for dinner a fruit AND a veggie. She's so in love with eating solids - she cries if she doesn't get more. I was just doing a fruit or a veggie but she started freaking out bc she wanted more food so now I do both. For breakfast and lunch she normally eats about 4-5 oz. For dinner she eats 6-8 oz. I feel like that's a lot of food! I was scared she'd have an upset tummy or become constipated, but hasn't so far...been doing this a week now. My pedi said to feed them solids till they're full so that's what I've done. We haven't tried meats yet.
  • I just gave my DD some pureed chicken today. She loved it!
  • I gave my son sweet potato with a bit of breastmilk yesterday and he liked it!! Has anyone given their little ones eggs yet!??
