Baby Movement/Cramping

So I had a little cramping starting yesterday. It isn't really strong. It feels like the cramp you get when you run and you are out of breath. However, I haven't felt the baby move today. I usually don't really notice if she's moving or not during the day, but at night I feel that she's pretty active. I'm about 21 weeks pregnant. I don't have any bleeding. I fee like I'm over reacting and everything is fine, but would like to know what you ladies think?

Re: Baby Movement/Cramping

  • Baby movements are very unpredictable until 3rd Tri. Some days they just move more than others, and when they're small enough, you may not always feel it when they move. I wouldn't worry at all.

It's very common to feel inconsistent movement at this point. Some days I feel lots of movement and then others barely anything....and that's how it was my last pregnancy until I felt consistent movement into my 3rd trimester.

Also, with the cramping I notice I get twinges every once in awhile that I associate with my uterus stretching and growing. As long as there's no bleeding and the cramping isn't severe I'd say it's normal.

  • Around 21-22 weeks I noticed a definite decrease in movement. My doctor said it was fine since it was still early, movement isn't expected to be felt all the time until 28 weeks. I also found out that they go through a growth spurt around that time too, and a decrease in movement can be really common because of that!

RLP and BH are both very normal and can sometimes feel like cramps.

What you're describing does sound normal to me. I am only just starting to feel movement consistenty at 24+6, and some days she is more active than others. I've also been having RLP & BH quite a bit lately which definitely feels like cramps. Nothing alarming, just slightly painful.

    Try not to worry!!

    Edited for grammar.
  • Thank you ladies!! Feel much better!!
  • I remember having the cramps like I ran a lot too. They seemed to subside. I'm guessing it has to do with stretching. I've noticed my girls have been less active the past day or so, and that seems to just happen. I've heard it can be growth spurts or if you are more active it lulls them to sleep. I wouldn't be too worried but it never hurts to call and ask the doctor or the nurse either!
  • My BH contractions can take my breath away sometimes! I agree with PPers and would only be worried if there was bleeding or severe cramps. Do you have an appointment soon to hear the heartbeat or an ultrasound and have some peace of mind?
  • I could have written your post word for word. I called my doctor for the same exact thing this morning and I'm 21 weeks. After a stillbirth I am very aware of movements and this little guy was super active for about 2 weeks and then yesterday it almost completely dropped off. My nurse said, "At this point they are regularly irregular." She said there is a lot of room in there and it's possible the baby moved into another position or it's possible they are having a good growth day.

Oh, I also remember hearing that at around 22 weeks, they have a growth spurt and sleep a lot.

  • Same thing happened to me..I had been feeling loys of movement then one day I had a lot of BH the next day cramping and no movement. Called the drs office they saI'd it was normal...Now she's moving again ♡♥
  • I've had days like this recently too. I try not to get worried when I don't feel him as much as usual but it's hard.

  • Echoing what all the PPs have said, I think it's completely normal, but I freaked out last week or so. Our little guy had been quite active at fairly regular time. Then almost nothing. So I got worried, and decided to use my doppler just to hear his sweet heart beat. All was fine. I think he figured he got me worried for nothing...he's been kicking with a vengeance since, especially at bedtime, but also at differrent points throughout the day.

Yes, I do on Monday that's why I was debating if I should wait or not. I do have to say that Monday can't come fast enough! :)
  • I bet!! Hang in there, I'm sure all will be fine.
