Breastmilk to formula transition tips

My LO is 3 months and I'm considering transitioning to formula. I've started back to work and I'm going to be unable to pump like at home. Also my supply is steadily drying up so pumping hasn't been productive like the past and I have to use my freezer milk to keep up.

Anyone have formula suggestions and tips for an easy transition?

Re: Breastmilk to formula transition tips

  • I transitioned to formula when my second LO was 10 months. I started to mix formula with breastmilk and slowly phased out the breastmilk. He never complained
  • Add one formula feeding each day? I'm sorry I just switched cold turkey and my DD didn't complain :/ I'd ask your Pedi was they'd suggest!!! Hope everything works for you!

  • I did half and half bottles for a couple of weeks and then moved to just formula with no issues.
  • We had to switch to formula at 8 weeks because of weight gain issues, my little one was actually losing weight instead of gaining.
We just started giving mostly formula and one bm bottle a day. (I'm a horrible pumper) warning though get some probiotic drops. Your little one will probably get constipated for a while.
  • My lactation specialist recommended Baby's Only Organic formula. It's labeled as toddler formula, but can be used with infants.

Please talk to your pediatrician, because toddler formula doesn't normally have enough fat for infants.
