Girl name poll

Hi ladies- I find out next week if we are having a girl or boy, everyone keeps asking "what do I want?" I have ZERO preference- but i usually give a stupid answer like "I guess I have a lot of boy names so Im set if its a boy." So I need help with girl names bc obv its a very real possibility it'll be a girl! Im open to suggestions. I have a few on my list that I'll poll. I dont like old fashioned names, I tend to like unisex/boyish names (I know how many feel about some of the options I'll be posting) I do like trendy names but am trying to not go top 10. I was born in the 80s with probably THEE most common girl name but didnt really suffer from having too many in my class with the same name, really. My husband is half german half dutch (but American born), we kind of like the idea of a name reflecting *some* heritage, but Im a mutt of scottish, french and english so it really isnt top priority. Im just rambling now- if you think of similar name-sounds based on my list, feel free! PS- last name is one syllable and ends in -ink . My middle name is Leigh and It was also my moms middle name, she spelled it Lee, so I would like to continue that trend if it fits.

Re: Girl name poll

  • Of those Lauren Olivia is solid and ages well.

Harper Quinn is double masculine and pretty close to Harley Quinn which also reminds me of the trashy romance novels aside from the character

Rowan is all boy but Rowena would be excellent

  • Rowena is not excellent. It's really awful in fact. I love Rowan, and Harper Quinn.

  • Harper and Rowan are very trendy.  I agree with PP, I think of Rowan as a boy's name.  Lauren Olivia is very pretty and is more classic.  So it just depends upon what type of name you want.

What is wrong with Rowena? It's a legit name and a good alternative to the masculine Rowan.
  • I LOVE HARPER QUINN!! That is a beautiful name and unique; I feel Lauren is pretty common.

  • I think Quinn as a middle name may sound odd with a monosyllabic last name.
For that reason, I think either of your other two options would flow better with the last name.

I don't mind Rowan for a girl, but would be partial to Lauren Elizabeth if I were to meld any of your options together.

    Good luck! It's tough.
  • It really comes down to what's more important to you, how much do you like a given names versus how much you want to minimize the chances of your child sharing a name with another in their class.

If your daughter not sharing a name is important, then go with Lauren. It is trending down while Harper, and Rowan for both genders is trending up. Harper has a good chance of breaking into the top 10 next year, having been less than 500 names off of Charlotte who is currently 10, hand having a higher percentage of "jumps" then Charlotte.
  • Everything bbiutmcph said.

I love Lauren Olivia. Lauren was a top contender for us. My son is Rowan so obviously that is all boy to me.
  • I vote Lauren Olivia mostly because I'm very partial to Olivia. I love that name
  • I voted for Harper Quinn, but it reminds me of Harley Quinn from Batman. But I loved her in those Batman cartoons that the WB used to show.

What about Harper Lauren? Because I read the harlequin comment. ;)
  • I voted Lauren. I like Harper too, but it seems very common. I really like Quinn for a fn.
  • I love Harper!! Rowan is cute too!
